Janelle Monae Movie Awards Nails

Just because the MTV Movie Awards are over, it doesn't mean we're done talking about ALL the fash-happenings that took place on the red carpet. We already dished on the fashion trends (metallics! Peplums!) and pulled out the top looks, but what about those nails? After taking a closer look at the stars' tips, we noticed one thing that all these ladies had in common—they matched their manis PERFECTLY to their ensembles. Bravo! First up: Janelle Monae sported cool black and white nail art to emulate her even cooler menswear-inspired black suit and white button-up look. (Psst: We love that she added a pop of pink on her lips and eyes for some color in her ensemble.) Even her ring took on the black and white trend!

Kate Moss at the Mango collection launch in Paris on May 17.

• The typically tight-lipped mega supermodel Kate Moss opened up about a partnership with fashion retailer Mango and Terry Richardson. They produced a special video that aired last night in Paris, but it has yet to surface on the web. Until then, you can read about how much she likes jam and Kate Middleton. {Fashionista}

• Fashion icon/actress/coolest person ever Tilda Swinton rocks a SERIOUS bowl cut in her latest Pringle ads. And, no, unfortunately we don't mean the "Once you pop, the fun don't stop" chips, Pringle of Scotland is actually a superhigh fashion (aka super expensive) clothing line that we now want EVERYTHING from. Dang it, Tilda. {HuffPost Style}

• 17-year-old model Lindsey Wixson just couldn't keep upright at Naomi Campbell's charity fashion show. She wasn't the only model that stumbled that evening, but you can watch her fall not once, twice, but three times—in a row—until an audience member tried to help her out. Luckily, no one cried... except maybe the dress' designer. {The Cut}

• Something's in the water, y'all. First Hailee Steinfeld is named the new face of Miu Miu, and now 14-year-old Chloë Moretz sports a peach ruffled top and skirt by the same designer. Is Miu Miu starting a tween fashion cult? {Coco Perez}

Carolina Herrera, Christian Siriano, Erin Fetherston, Nicole Miller, Narciso Rodriguez, and a BAJILLION other designers sketched their fantasy opera costumes! While the proceeds from the sketches benefit the New York City Opera, we're just into the fact that this is some SERIOUSLY breathtaking artwork. {The Cut}

• Juuuust when we were getting into animal print nails, of COURSE a manicurist had to step it up a notch. You can get an actual snakeskin gel manicure if you have $300 and 2 hours to spare. Um, we'll stick to the fake stuff, thanks. {Coco Perez}

• Hot summer weather is around the corner, so InStyle compiled tons of supercute (and sexy!) dresses for under $100. Our fave? The printed dress from—gasp—Delia's! {InStyle}

You guys. Spring is soo close. And there's just something about impending sunshine, warm breezes, and flowers blossoming that make us want to dig out our girliest gear and skip down the street. OK, maybe that would overdo it a tad, but after a long, harsh winter we're ready for a wardrobe mood lift. And it seems some of our favorite style blogs are on board too. We came across three lovely ladies whose frilly, tiered frocks channeled that loving, spring-time feeling we've been missing. Rachelle Morgan of Discovering Elegance, Folake Huntoon of Style Pantry, and Sara Johnson of Isabella's Fashion all created ensembles with fiercely feminine silhouette thanks to tiers upon tiers of ruffled sweetness.

There's a lot going on with Rachelle's look — patterned tights, leather jacket, scarves, lace, thigh-highs — wowza! It's a wonder her tiered lace Zara skirt wasn't completely overshadowed. Instead it acts as the centerpiece, tying together vastly different elements in a cohesive and unique way. The layers of lace are a distinctively sweet contrast to the abrasive feel of her biker jacket and kick-your-ass boots, while the soft fabrics of her tee, scarf, and rose embroidered tights play up her ladylike qualities. But wait! There's more! Girlfriend's skirt is ACTUALLY a dress in disguise. What a sneaky surprise. Multipurpose outfit items are the absolute best. Covet.

Folake Huntoon of Style Pantry
Blog: StylePantry.com. Twitter: @stylepantry.
Folake's long flowing tulle tiers of petal pink prettiness make us feel like she should be modeling cupcakes or chasing bunnies because it's just so soft and delicate. We also absolutely adore the fact that this skirt is a maxi instead of a run-of-the-mill short tiered mini available anywhere. She simultaneously dresses it up by teaming it with classy-lady pearls, yet keeps it casual with a sassy, tied-up chambray top. And did we mention that Anat B. clutch yet?! Hulloooo, gorgeous. Seeing Folake play up these blue, pink, and yellow hues has us breaking out mid-skip into an all-out sprint.

Sara Johnson of Isabella's Fashion
Blog: IsabellasFashion.Blogspot.com. Twitter: @isafashionblog.
Sara, a fashion student from upstate New York, took the all-over tiered approach with her purple ombre cotton shift for a silhouette that carries across her entire ensemble. She also makes her Erin Fetherston for Target dress seasonally transitional by wearing it with a chunky rib knit sweater, cozy scarf, and boots. So if the air out there still has some bite to it, take note and layer it on like Sara. The tiers will still poke through and provide plenty of personality, color, and chic charm.

New York Fall 2011 Fashion Week has officially wrapped, but not without leaving some fierce trends in its wake. From beautiful braids to mix-and-match prints, these are the fall trends that got our attention. Confession: We’re seriously contemplating jumping the gun and wearing these hot looks NOW. What? Is that a problem?

DEEP TEAL: Pantone wasn’t joking when they said that deep teal would be the go-to hue for Fall 2011. Dozens of designers including Marc Jacobs, Rodarte, and Rachel Roy incorporated the ocean-invoking shade into their collections. What we noticed: It’s a color that works on every skin tone.

WILD PRINTS: Prints in fall aren’t really anything shocking, but hyper mixing and matching them like Anna Sui, Rebecca Taylor, Betsey Johnson did is definitely something new. The colorful look is bold and brazen—wallflowers need not apply.

HIGH NECKLINES: Turtlenecks sort of fell off the radar over the last few years, but they are back in a big way. Everyone from Christian Siriano and BCBG Max Azria to Tommy Hilfiger showed the topper on the runway this week, teaming it with flowing dresses and draping skirts.

'70S INSPIRED: Tory Burch, Anna Sui, and Marc By Marc Jacobs flaunted their ‘70s inspired looks—fluffy furs, oversize shades, and bow-collared blouses—on the runway. Do you dig it, foxy?

BRAIDS WITH A TWIST: As for hair, woven locks were the popular pick. But not just any old French braid would do for these designers. Erin Fetherston interlaced metallic thread into braided crowns, a Mara Hoffman showed fat side braids, and Charlotte Ronson’s plaits were tiny and hidden at the nape of her models’ necks.

This weekend we saw a slew of braids on New York Fashion Week runways. But not just any old Little House on the Prairie braids. These were braids with a serious twist! At Charlotte Ronson, models' hair was slicked to one side with a few tiny plaits peeking out from underneath. Meanwhile, the models at Erin Fetherston and Band of Outsiders wore chunky braids--Erin Fetherston's were wrapped crown-style around their heads, and Band of Outsiders were pulled to one shoulder.
