Ah, young love. Just as one celeb marriage burns out like a candle in the Santa Ana winds, another one dawns anew on the Hollywood horizon. The rest of the gossip-mongering world is currently a-titter about the recent demise of one such poisonous, no longer ivy-entwined partnership, while there is cause (and pause) for celebration at the revelation of a recent engagement. You guys, Frances Bean Cobain is (allegedly) GETTING MARRIED!!! Yes, it seems that our little girl is all growns-up and ready to walk barefoot down a petal-strewn patch of sunshine deep in the valleys of Topanga Canyon wearing vintage lace and smoky eyes with her purported "lucky man" and "best friend," Isaiah Silva! According to OC Weekly, the gentleman asking (not asking?) for the daughter of Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love's black-nailed hand is the singer of a band called The Rambles (whose most popular song on MySpace is "Little Sunshine" followed by "I Just Wanna Sleep With You"). He also appears to be an attractive indie dude with longish hair, a faint goatee, and a habit of being photographed showing a lot of man chest. We wonder A) if this is really true, and B) what Frances B.C. is going to wear on the big day...

Frances Bean Cobain

Last week, the entire blogosphere stopped en masse to stare with wonder and exhilaration at a young woman named Frances Bean Cobain, who looked defiantly out of shots done by designer/photographer Hedi Slimane. Today, we received another batch of Frances Bean images, this time from Los Angeles photographer (and friend) Rocky Schenck. The shoots could not be more different: Slimane's are rough and stark, while Schenck's show Frances as a glamorous, slightly tortured beauty. Loosely tied hair, pouting lips, vintage outfits instead of ripped and torn T-shirts. Though not channeling her rocker history, these pictures are just as alluring.

Frances Bean, unlike her counterparts Jagger or Osbourne or Leon, is a relative unknown. Sure, there was her parents' infamy and the Kurt Cobain tragedy, but we don't see her in the Page Sixes and gossip strangely familiar as her face may be. How did this young thing pass us by? Why did we not notice her blossoming into a beauty or get to ogle her awkward teen stage? And how did her mother, Courtney Love, the mistress of very publicly courting drama, shield Miss Cobain from the ills of fame?

Frances Bean Cobain

It's hard not to talk about her very public beef with mom Courtney Love, or what it's like to grow up as the heir and legacy of one of rock and roll's most tortured souls, her father Kurt Cobain. But Frances Bean Cobain—named as such, as rock legend goes, after Seattle's Frances Farmer and the fact that she looked like a bean as a baby—has done remarkably well avoiding publicity. Which, despite the air of tragedy and complexity around her, is kind of a shame, because as Hedi Slimane's recent photo shoot depicts, she's a magnetic and alluring young lady.

Slimane, famous for his stint at Dior Homme, sat down with Frances for a group of stark, revealing black and white photos that are simultaneously eerie because Frances looks like a woman (instead of the baby oft-photographed with her grunge-icon parents) and because Frances looks like the precise blend of mom and dad. But also, she looks beautiful, wearing little makeup and a lot of jewelry, staring down the camera like she was born for it (she was) and like she grew up in front of it (she didn't). Romantic, introspective, and intense: more Frances, please.

I love these two as a couple. What a festive way to celebrate two important events in their life. Mariah looks like a dream.
