You don’t have to be Imelda Marcos or Cinderella to appreciate why this isn't your ordinary news about shoes.

• According to J.Crew's queen supreme Jenna Lyons, there are two types of shoes: "Shiny Ponies" and "Ugly Dollies." A delicious behind-the-scenes video explains. {Racked National}

Obviously there is a shoe for every neighborhood in NYC. And whether or not you're a city dweller, this handy guide 1.) exists and 2.) is fantastically accurate. {Refinery 29}

Vans continues to dominate capsule collections by teaming up with Comme des Garçons. We're hoping that the shoe makes it stateside because it's just plain pretty. {Highsnobiety}

Ugg boots have never been completely immune to derision, but the folks at the Conservative Political Action Conference have some very specific thoughts about them. {The Cut}

• And finally, we are much obliged to share this public service announcement for all sneakerheads with Instagram shortcomings. {Complex}

Looks from J.Crew's Spring 2013 New York Fashion Week presentation.

Can you believe it's only been a year now that fashion-forward retail giant J.Crew has been showing at New York Fashion Week? Yes, it's only been 365 days (well, roughly) since the Jenna Lyons/Mickey Drexler match-up made its Lincoln Center debut. (And though J.Crew has shown exclusively via presentation and not runway show thus far, that hasn't stopped MEGASTARS like Miss Beyonce Knowles) from showing support. And judging from the brand's marked evolution of the collections from season to season while still keeping true to the J.Crew signatures (namely excellent tailoring and a massive sucker punch of color), it's not hard to see why.

J.Crew Fall 2012 New York Fashion Week.

Despite going through many, MANY fashion phases in my lifetime thus far, the one thing that has remained consistent is a preppy bass line. I'm a sucker for a clean line, a collared shirt, and a great trouser. Naturally, brushes with J.Crew in any capacity send me into a dizzying prep-gasm. This morning's Fall 2012 New York Fashion Week presentation did not disappoint. President/Creative Director extraordinaire Jenna Lyons employs a '70s rec room color palette for her latest autumn/winter collection of dresses and professional separates, blessing it all with her Midas styling touch, namely heavy-handed layering and fearless print mixing.

J.Crew may have skimped on the hosiery, but Jenna ain't no fool. This season is COLD! Instead of tights, she presents a grip of tailored trouser options in enough colors and prints to make your head spin and skirt hemlines extend to below or just above the knee. Pieces are layered one, two, three times over with collared shirts sitting under thinner sweaters and all under blazers (and coats!). Short-sleeve tops are constructed thicker and worn over printed long-sleeves and turtlenecks. The combinations are endless, just make sure you're balancing your lines and weights of fabrics.

• Footwear designer Christian Louboutin is on a mission to make the only red bottom pump. Last week he sued Yves Saint Laurent, who has a red soled shoe. And this week, he's going after Carmen Steffens, whose shoes contain soles of all colors, including red. {Styleite}

Kate Moss for Louis Vuitton? Candice Swanepoel for Versace? Irina Kulikova for Moschino? And more Fall 2011 designer campaign casting rumors...{Fashionologie}

J. Crew's creative director Jenna Lyons is getting flak from Fox News for an article on the brand's website where she's painting her son's toes Essie pink. Meanwhile her son is a BABY, and everyone at Fox News can RELAX because that ish is removable. {Styleite}

• After a brief hiatus to get her health in check, tennis star Serena Williams has returned to the a shiny neon pink catsuit. Yep, sheeeee's baaaaack. {Coco Perez}

• FYI: Proctor & Gamble has recently recalled 10 shades of Clairol Natural Instincts at-home hair color, claiming inaccurate color results. Don't say we didn't warn ya'. {Stylelist}

I love these two as a couple. What a festive way to celebrate two important events in their life. Mariah looks like a dream.
