Katy's skirt adds, like, ten feet.

We already had a feeling Katy Perry’s Prismatic World Tour wardrobe was going to be epic with her all-star lineup of designers like The Blonds, Di$count Universe, Valentino, and way more. But now we know it’s going to be epic, thanks to Katy’s most recent Instagram—her fave spot to preview all her tour outfits—featuring a larger-than-life yin-yang parachute skirt, designed by Johnny Wujek and Marco Marco.

By now, everyone knows that Lupita Nyong'o has great style. She is one of the most colorful dressers to ever walk the red carpet and judging by the impressive palette she’s pulled off so far, she can’t do any wrong. So it’s kind of a given that she’d be on the cover of The Hollywood Reporter’s 25 Top Stylists of 2014 issue, literally hugging the woman who helped propel her to the fashion darling that she is today, Micaela Erlanger, alongside fellow House of Erlanger disciple, Downton Abbey star Michelle Dockery.

Katy Perry really is growing up, y'all! In a stark contrast to her bubblegum Candyfornia image of yesteryear, KP has released the music video for "Unconditionally," the second official single off of her Prism album, and it's super mature and gorgeous (just like her!). Where the lyric video for the track was really stripped down and bare, the full-fledged music video is more about beautiful, rich imagery and symbolism which Katy revealed in her MTV First with Iggy Azalea was meant to express that abstract phenomenon of falling in love—and apparently unconditional love also comes with a swagged out closet of designer goods, so sign us up! We were fortunate enough to catch up with Katy's long-time trusted stylist Johnny Wujek to pick his brain about the ogle-worthy wardrobe and its inspiration.
That's right, Katy Cats! Your fearless ruler Katy Perry (she likes to go by "Mom") is headed for the 2013 Video Music Awards. Filling out an already star-studded lineup (so far including Lady Gaga and Kanye West), Katy will use her VMA appearance Sunday, August 25, at 9 p.m. ET at Brooklyn's Barclays Center for the premier live performance of her brand new single, "Roar." KP's been a VMA mainstay since her One Of The Boys mainstream debut, so in honor of her history-making homecoming (and in anticipation of what "new" Katy will wear for her performance, we're taking a look back at her VMA style evolution. Leggo!

It's been a minute since we were first introduced to this version of KP: bubbly, blue-eyed and owner of one of the summer's hottest (in more ways than one) singles "I Kissed A Girl." For her breakout VMA appearance in 2008, Katy went for a red carpet look that mirrored the boudoir feel of her music video: a white satin bustier top with a demi halter neck and silver star embellishments, peach satin hotpants with maribou feather adornments, metallic fuschia round-toe pumps, and a glittery hard case clutch decorated with star-spangled rhinestones. Her lips were red, her liquid liner pristine, and she had a bow-shaped barrette in her hair.

If there's one thing we've learned here at MTV Style, it's that for every celebrity or musician we peep on the red carpet, there's an insanely talented stylist behind them. And you know what? The job ain't easy! They have the pressure of creating iconic looks time and time again, which can make (or break!) a person's entire career. It's time to finally get to know the names behind the oh-so-famous faces, so The Hollywood Reporter put together a list of the top 25 most powerful stylists in Hollywood. And, yay, some of our old faves (Johnny Wujek! Brad Goreski! Rachel Zoe!) managed to make the cut!
Katy Perry performing at the Kids Inaugural Concert, and then at the inauguration ceremony.
We're so into the way Katy Perry stans for President Obama. There are many celebs who will ride for our newly sworn-in Commander-In-Chief, but are any of them rocking custom latex ballot dresses and attending EVERY event of the inauguration? No, just Katy. Having closely followed her time on the president's campaign trail we were eagerly awaiting Katy's inaugural weekend looks, and were CRUSHED when more of them weren't easily accessible to us online. Luckily, Vogue had our back, and linked up with Katy to publish her Inauguration weekend photo diary. Not only does it let us see candid shots of her custom stars and stripes bustier (which she designed HERSELF, along with stylist extraordinaire Johnny Wujek), but also her amazing Rodarte Inauguration ceremony coat, Oscar De La Renta performance dress, Dolce & Gabbana White House After-Party CAPE, AND her custom Kimmie Kyees patriotic nails. Ah-May-Zing. The photos really do make us feel like an insider, and of course possess that signature KP humor.
First things first: after months of campaigning, $6 billion in spending, and a long (looooong) voting day yesterday, Barack Obama is officially the winner of the 2012 Presidential Election! BUT before all that went down late last night, Katy Perry and Johnny Wujek hit the polls- and turned voting into a fashion show, obviously. The pop star and her stylist each turned out to pick their president yesterday in Los Angeles dressed in some seriously patriotic duds. Katy's been a longtime Obama supporter, so it's not that surprising that the singer showed her love for the Dems in a bright blue suit, sheer white blouse with black collar, and a skinny black tie. The sleek outfit might not be quite as extreme as that amazing ballot dress she rocked at the Las Vegas rally this month, but hey- it definitely got the point across, and WE.LOVE.IT.
Three things we're obsessed with: Katy Perry, Ellen Von Unwerth, and finding the perfect flat iron. All three in one place? Dreamy. We've always loved Katy Perry's campaign shots for hair tools giant ghd (which we've HEARD makes the best flat irons in all the land), which have previously been shot by the great David LaChappelle, but we have to say, this latest Ellen Von Unwerth-shot edition is far and away our fave. In previous Chappelle shoots the looks were heavily stylized, from mermaids to styles throughout the eras, to the roaring 20's, and although they stopped us in our tracks with their uber-glam beauty, the graceful, simple look of Von Unwerth's pictures has us really focused on what we're all here for anyway: Katy and the hair. Von Unwerth shoots the typically colorful singer in black and white, styled with a clean cat eye and porcelain skin, and Johnny Wujek tones down the glitter in exchange for a simple silk in one image, and a crystal embellished crew neck dress in the other (he HAD to have some sparkle somewhere, honestly). The hair in both images is flawless. From a retro loose look, featuring blunt, thick above the eyebrow bangs and a subtle wave, to a sleek, low side-ponytail.

We throw around the phrase "beauty is pain" for a variety of situations - tweezing eyebrows, pushing through that last lap at the gym, even waking up an hour early to give our hair a little extra TLC - but apparently, in Katy Perry's case, the expression a bit of an understatement. According to a recent interview the "Wide Awake" singer gave with The Sun, Katy's insurers are pulling for her to shelve her iconic spinning peppermint bra for fear that the pop star may injure her neck. "Why would a candy-themed ladylump chariot have anything to do with her neck?" you might be shouting aloud at the computer screen. Well, Katy explains that, too.
