Chanel's Paris-Bombay Pre-Fall 2012 show in Paris.

When it comes to over-the-top luxe fashion spectacles of the highest order, no one puts on a show quite like Chanel does. As you know, my Uncle Karl is a genius (that's Karl Lagerfeld to those of you who have yet to realize that he's your long lost uncle, too), and he has massive visions of what he wants his fashion shows to look like before he stages them. We've seen everything from under the sea mermaid villages to tripped-out garden parties, and he always seems to top himself each season. Even though we're currently between seasons and have some time before the next fashion week, Chanel decided to show their pre-fall 2012 collection like a massive fash-week bonanza complete with an imagined trip to India and one sumptuous feast of towering delicacies twinkling beneath rows of dripping crystal chandeliers that seemed fit for Marie Antoinette (and the editors who were invited, of course). Not only did King Karl put on a parade of gahhhh-stopping look after look, he threw in some '90s supermodels like Yasmin Le Bon as well as singer/songwriter Chan Marshall of Cat Power to liven up the Bombay-influenced Parisian palace. Oh, and the clothes? Silver studded, nose-beaded, googly-eye pyramid MAGIC.

Just two weeks ago, we were stopped dead in our tracks, shocked to find that the entire Marc Jacobs Spring 2012 collection was stolen from a train in Paris. Scratching our heads, wondering, for one, how a scheme so large could be pulled off undetected and what that might mean for the future production of the actual purchasable collection. Now, our return to the office after a long weekend of snuggly Thanksgiving vacay times comes accompanied by the sharp reality of another unexpected jolt—the theft of more than $400,000 worth of Louis Vuitton merchandise from a Paris airport. The grand-scale burglary came by the hand of "five masked thieves" according to WWD.

While we would never dream of actually carrying out an actual holdup for the benefit of our wardrobes, these couture capers do have us thinking about from which epic collections we wouldn't mind trying to score a five-finger discount. Of course, if we were to really think about this strategically, we'd go for a Fall/Winter as opposed to the Spring/Summer variety (HELLO, think of the leathers and furs and silks and nomnomnom), but since those collections are already out, and the grandeur of that Marc Jacobs robbery is its at-the-moment one-of-a-kind exclusivity, here are our top five Spring/Summer 2012 collections worth plotting a heist for.

I meannn. The product of the genius mind and discerning hand of Karl Lagerfeld, which debuted with the unveiling of Florence Welch from a clam shell à la "The Birth of Venus," is kind of a no-brainer, to say the very least. With all its glitteringly feminine goodness juxtaposed with crisp tailoring and so much classic chic, the Chanel Spring 2012 collection is what we might call an investment heist. So long as no one realizes you, y'know, stole all this ish, these are pieces you can wear forever.

Lady Gaga in Alexander McQueen at the Bambi Awards in Germany.
Photo: Getty Images

There's nothing like ending the week with the triumphant sartorial cheer of Lady Gaga wearing something GLORIOUS. Yes, little monsters, the queen of the red carpet showed up to the Bambi Awards (aka "Germany's most important media prize ceremony") wearing a jaw-dropping Alexander McQueen gown that made her look like an elegantly wayward swan drenched in gold (her poor pet deer fossilized forever in her precious metal embrace). To get right to the point, this is a MAYJAH style moment. It was classic McQueen and evoked his late muse Isabella Blow. Not only is this dress matted to Gaga's body like wet 24 karat feathers, it swirls up and around her face and then COVERS HER ENTIRE HEAD. But just what is it made out of? Are these flowers, leaves, or just random frippery? Or, WAIT. Is this headdress constructed out of dozens of expensive looking SUNFLOWER SEEDS?

This is so weird. My Uncle Karl (aka Karl Lagerfeld, not to name-drop or anything) hasn't been returning my phone calls lately. I mean, he's a really busy man, what with being the king of Chanel, running his own signature line of products, taking photos of Florence Welch on the weekend, and also enjoying a ginormous library of art books at his home palace in Paris (which I sometimes fantasize about living amongst while wearing an interlocking C's silk robe, metallic cap-toe shoes, and subsisting on a diet of nothing but mini Marie Antoinette cakes). It's really strange that I haven't seen him since he walked the runway of his underwater-themed Spring 2012 show, his delicate white ponytail dancing upon the phosphorescent breeze. I was clicking around the internet while not waiting for his phone call (or a random delivery of, oh, a cross shoulder quilted bag or, say, some discontinued nail polish that he may or may not have tested on his own jewel-adorned fingers), and I came across something so HORRIFYING, so wonderfully beautiful and scientifically JARRING that I don't really know what to say. You guys, someone shrank my Uncle Karl and trapped him in a snow globe full of gold flakes. *HYPERVENTILATING*

Dakota and Elle Fanning pose in the same iconic Chanel jacket for Karl Lagerfeld's upcoming photography book.

Sisters Dakota and Elle Fanning took a break from their pedestal as pint-sized muses to Marc Jacobs to serve as inspiration for another fashion visionary: Karl Lagerfeld. The girls were shot as part of an upcoming photography book from the Chanel creative director, and thanks to V magazine, we're able to see a few pages from the compilation while it's still in progress. The book features the Fannings, top models, and more sporting the brand's iconic bouclé tweed jacket and, styled by Carine Roitfeld, the series of images prove the renowned garment's versatility.

The creative partnership between Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfeld (also known as my Uncle Karl) and balladeer beauty Florence Welch of Florence + the Machine is reaching epic levels. Ever since Mr. Lagerfeld fell for the vintage-adorned songbird (seriously, she's a style slayer of the highest order), the two have been collab-ing all over the place from the pages of Vogue Japan to the Chanel spring 2012 show at Paris Fashion Week where Florence emerged like a mystical pearlescent mermaid out of a giant Chanel oyster shell to walk with the designer down the runway. Now, the two are at it again with the release of Flo's new single, "Shake It Out", which features a limited-edition vinyl cover shot by King Karl himself. All I can say is this continued musical-muse love fest is getting so good that it has me exploding into poetry.

Elizabeth Olsen Karl Lagerfeld

According to a profile of actress Elizabeth Olsen in the New York Times, Karl Lagerfeld recently shot the indie film ingenue for a coffee table book. We've already decreed her a rising style star, and all we have to say is, once King Karl photographs you, you've officially ARRIVED. The little sis to Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen (and the muse for their Elizabeth and James line), Elizabeth seems to be all over the place recently and for good reason. Her film debut in the upcoming indie drama Martha Marcy May Marlene is garnering crazy good reviews (and was a hit at the Sundance Film Fest), and she's been slaying red carpets everywhere while doing press for the film.

She wore Alexander McQueen to the premiere and a Boy. by Band of Outsiders seersucker dress to the New York Film Fest. But what in Chanel blazers is this coffee tawk?! Elizabeth told the Times that she'd had a photo session with Monsieur Lagerfeld for an unnamed coffee table book and wore an "oversize classic Chanel tweed jacket," but didn't elaborate beyond that. Could Elizabeth be Karl's new muse? We know he has a penchant for casting actresses and singers for ad campaigns, but this shoot sounds interesting. In the profile, Elizabeth is running late because the shoot with Karl apparently ran long, so perhaps there are are TONS of photos for, like, an entire book? We're interlocking C's intrigued...

Karl Lagerfeld Florence Welch Chanel

Ever since the unveiling of the Chanel spring 2012 collection at Paris Fashion Week two days ago, the MTV Style staff has been in full-tilt swoon about the majesty of the 'Enchantment Under the Sea'-dancesque theme of Karl Lagerfeld's show. I mean, the Kaiser fully unveiled Florence Welch in a frickin' clam shell on some Boticelli's Venus ish which just goes to show that Uncle Karl is the G.

There was flowing, iridescence GALORE with wee scintillating pearls gracing the faces of the girls to where they had labret piercings and Madonna piercings IN PEARL and it was SO Man Ray's 'Tears of Glass' EXCEPT that there were even shiny, dew-droppy SPINAL COLUMNS on the moddels which gets into space alien territory that rules. Seriously, watch this behind-the-scenes video and use a spatula to scrape your face off the floor because it hath molten into a puddle of ZOMG.

Karl Lagerfeld and Snoop Dogg.
Photo: Getty Images

Fashion designer and white collar aficionado Karl Lagerfeld has been hanging out with Snoop Dogg recently. WAIT, whaaaaaaaat?! Apparently, the Chanel impresario attended The Doggfather's "West Coast" party in Paris earlier this summer. (Seriously, can you see King Karl throwing West Coast hand signs up in that place, singing along to "Gin & Juice" in his succinct German accent while lecturing any gangsta he can get his hands on that it's incredibly important to think pink but NEVER wear it?) But, even more recently, Monsieur Lagerfeld was shooting a music video (he wears many hats but never on his head) in a Saint-Tropez cafe with Euro nightclub owner and music maker Jean-Roch featuring—drum roll—Snoop D. Could this mean there's a FASHION partnership on the style horizon featuring gangsta rap and couture's most celebrated kingpins?

Taylor Lautner

Taylor Lautner is REALLY excited for FASHHUNN.
Photo: Getty Images

OMG, Taylor Lautner, what are you soooo happy about? When we spotted you today at the Abduction premiere, your arms were wildly outstretched with the most intense jazz hands we have ever seen. Your lips were OBVIOUSLY mouthing the words "YAYYYYY" with more excitement than we could ever imagine, but WHY? What is it? Would could make our dear Taylor so happy? Is it the fact that your gray checkered suit is so freakin' well-fitted? Is it simply just knowing that your teeth are the pearliest, whitest choppers in the world? Is it because you know that WE know that you look ridiculously good shirtless? Or, or it is that, like us, you're just excited about FASHION?! YEAH. That's probably it, right Tay Tay? Well, we've made some educated guesses as to what is on the other side of this photo, because it's OBVIOUSLY fashion-related, so we kept that in mind. Let us know if we nailed it, kay Taylor? Thanks!

YAYYYY, SNOOKI SLIPPERS!

Nothing is more happy-making than Snooki, but then she *gasp* designed slippers! In leopard print! And it just so happened that Taylor got his hands on the BIGGEST. ONE. EVER. Lucky dog. No wonder he's smiling ear-to-ear.

YAYYYY, ETSY CAT!

Remember that time we found buttloads of photos of hipster cats? Well, WE DO. It just so happens that "Etsy Cat" was one of our faves, so it was probably Taylor's too. Which is why he's SOOO EXCITED, right?!
