Well, we're officially jealous of the West Coast. Yesterday, celebs, designers, and artists gathered together for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund event at the Chateau Marmont in L.A. looking as if winter weren't just a month away (or mere days if you count the Frankenstorm coming our way. Yipes!). Jaime King, Katy Perry, Emma Roberts, and Mandy Moore all showed up sporting super summery graphic print frocks that are seriously making us miss those warm summer days. Jaime wore a crimson red paisley print peplum Giambattista Valli Resort 2013 dress with a brown Valentino clutch and matching shoes. She finished her look with a killer gold cuff, bold red lips and soft, blonde waves. PERF!

Zoe Saldana, Pharrell Williams and Mary Kate Olsen at the CFDA awards.
Photo: Getty

Sometimes the fashion world can seem intimidating and stuffy, but then events like the Met Gala or last night's CFDA awards ceremony pop up and the world that was one intimidating gets to bust out all of its creative, gutsy excitement for the world to see. A designer, a blogger, and a model singing and dancing to "Call Me Maybe" while getting ready? Check. A host decked out in a lace dress and boxer shorts? Check. Some of our favorite celebs wearing GORGEOUS couture? Check, check, check, check. While there were a TON of outfits that struck our fancy on last night's red carpet, there were a few that stuck out in particular. Zoe Saldana wore one of the more striking looks of the night, although it was also one of the most simple. Prabal Gurung dressed the actress in a jet black, carpet-sweeping illusion gown, with figure accentuating sheer panels, long sleeves, and a slit to there. The look was gorgeous paired with a strong kohl eye, nude lips, and tightly pulled-back hair. Pharrell Williams also managed to make black look risky in...dare we say it...a shorts tux. The modernized tux, which also featured a giant bow tie and a beanie, was designed by Comme Des Garçons and revealed the music and fashion mogul's calf tattoo. It's a fresh take on a timeless look that some say needs no updating, but we say go for it Pharrell, what's the point of being in fashion if you're too afraid to take a risk every once in awhile. Also, we need to add that this is not 100% uncharted territory: Joe Jonas wore a giant bow tie to last year's CFDA's. Just sayin'. Ok, ok, we know it's summer and that we need to move on from all the winter-colored outfits, but we couldn't leave out Mary Kate Olsen in The Row, especially since the talented twin and her sister took home the award for Women's Wear Designer of the Year, considered the biggest achievement of the night. Mary Kate joined the winners circle with a new 'do, showing up to the show with brand new brunette locks. The color makes MK's blue eyes pop, an effect that she accentuated with a pair of oversized emerald green drop earrings.

Drew Barrymore at 'The Beauty Detox Solution' launch party in West Hollywood on April 13, Rumer Willis at a "Love, Loss & What I Wore' celebration in New York on March 24, and Mandy Moore at the ASPCA headquarters in New York on April 20.

Oh snaps! Flame-tressed goodness in threesies! Maybe it's the promise of summer and that gloriously floral springtime scent in the air, but it's definitely a season for change. And by change we mean temporarily experimenting with the color of the fibrous structural proteins that make up your HAIR! The first case of going rouge was spotted on our dear trendsetting Whitney Port earlier this month, with her typically blonde strands going strawberry and then BAMBAMBAM, we've got Drew Barrymore, Rumer Willis and Mandy Moore looking perfect for spring and debuting gorgeous red heads. It's amazing what a difference it makes. I mean, not cuhrazy to where they look that different. They were freakishly attractive ladies to begin with.

Drew opted for coppery layers that still beautifully complements her boho-chic ensemble choices and makes her skin look bright and amazing. Serious peaches-n-cream going on here. Given that this long 'do is one that she's sported for several years, it's kinda incredible that the influx of color alters everything subtly like, look at the green flecks that comprise the hazel of her eyes. Plus, it warms up all that lovely gold jewelry.

Rumer's quintessentially Rumer-ish modified pixie/bob goes for a more maroonish red, which gives a great deal of depth to her wavy tousled, asymmetrical strands. It's like the rug in The Dude's house; it really ties the room together etc etc.

Mandy's hair is GLORIOUS and always looks rich and perfect and healthy and shiny, and like it smells like either almonds or outside or field (but not if there's like animals or anything. This is not where this is going). The awesome thing about Mandy's hair is that the auburn and rusty red highlights make all types of springtime colors and floral looks feminine and beautiful. Like a girl you want to marry immediately and make her learn acoustic guitar or put on an old-school bicycle with a basket or something. Plus, she loves cats. Winner.

The red (er, fuschia) carpet at Sunday night's 83rd Annual Academy Awards (aka the granddaddy of all awards shows) featured a handful of classic fashion hits (trains, bustles, etc.), plus a slew of surprise ensembles (who knew so many celebs would rock red?!). Here are the looks we’ll be talking about ALL week long…

MILA KUNIS: Black Swan star Mila Kunis brought the glamor in a lacy lilac Elie Saab gown, which she wore with Neil Lane jewelry. J'ADORE!

MICHELLE WILLIAMS: Michelle Williams, who was nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role for Blue Valentine, balanced the conservative cut of her champagne Chanel gown with head-to-toe encrusted crystals.

MANDY MOORE: Mandy Moore, who performed with Zachary Levi, rocked the red carpet in a twinkling gold Monique Lhuillier gown.

FLORENCE WELCH: Florence Welch, who performed "If I Rise" from 127 Hours, let her fiery red hair do the talking, while keeping her gown choice—a lace tiered Valentino number—muted.

JENNIFER LAWRENCE: One of the first celebs to walk the red carpet, Jennifer Lawrence got the party started in a sleek red Calvin Klein shift that looked painted on!

For every awards show that comes, we try to predict which trends will rule the red carpet. Most of the time, we are completely surprised (pleasantly) by the looks the stars step out in...which was the case at Sunday night's 2011 Academy Awards. From lovely lace to shades of purple, here’s the lowdown on this year’s hottest Oscars red carpet trends.

IN THE NUDE: Mandy Moore, Halle Berry, and Florence Welch looked naturally beautiful in nude-hued gowns. Mandy wore a shoulder-baring Marchesa dress, while Halle also sported a magnificent Marchesa creation, and Florence gave the red carpet a vintage-y vibe in a tired Valentino frock.

RED HAUTE: Jennifer Lawrence (in Calvin Klein), Sandra Bullock (in Vera Wang), and Jennifer Hudson (in Versace) were just a few of the bombshells to wear a serious pop of color.

SHADES OF PURPLE: Purple reigned with Mila Kunis donning a boundary-pushing Elie Saab gown with white drop earrings, Natalie Portman showing her baby bump in a flowing Rodarte dress, and Cate Blanchett wearing a work of art in the form of a Givenchy frock.

GLITTER AND SEQUINS: It's one way to turn heads on the red carpet! Mandy Moore (in Monique Lhuillier), Amy Adams (in L'Wren Scott), and Michelle Williams (in Chanel) weren't hard to miss in their sparkling gowns.

SHEER THINGS: Mila Kunis, Hailee Steinfeld, and Scarlett Johansson looked lovely in lace. Mila's lavender Elie Saab dress was demure yet insanely sexy. Meanwhile, Hailee looked like a modern day princess in Marchesa, and Scarlett's Dolce & Gabbana gown was the talk of the carpet.

8:16 pmZachary Levi, who is singing with Mandy Moore at tonight's show, proves (once again) why we chose him as a Hottest Hustler a few weeks ago. This guy looks amazingly sharp from neck (the bow tie!) to toe (the shiny lace-ups!).

8:01 pm — We're seeing a trend! Sandra Bullock ALSO wore red on the red carpet. Her pick: a classic and beautiful Vera Wang strapless gown with a full and fabulous bustle.

7:56 pmGwyneth Paltrow looks sleek and modern (like we'd want to look on a red carpet!) in a metallic gold Calvin Klein gown with a deep skinny V-neck front.

7:53 pmJustin Timberlake might just be the best-dressed man on the red carpet. Probably because his Tom Ford tux is custom-tailored to fit him like a glove.

7:24 pm — Who's digging the lacy, form-fitting Dolce & Gabbana gown that Scarlett Johansson is rocking? WE ARE!! Our only critique is that the maroon hue doesn't pop off the red carpet as much as we'd like it to.

7:09 pm — In a sea of black and white tuxes, Jennifer Hudson brings a pop of color in this tangerine Versace halter dress. And the word on the street is that she's wearing purple shoes underneath!

6:53 pm — Lovely is probably the best way we can describe Michelle Williams' look—her lightly coiffed pixie, her circle diamond earrings, and her glittery Chanel frock.

6:51 pm — Performer Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine wears a lot of nude/beige on red carpets, so this lacy Valentino number was no big surprise. But we love it nonetheless!!

The 83rd Annual Academy Awards is tonight! Will King's Speech win for Best Film? Will Natalie Portman take home an Oscar for her role in Black Swan? Who knows! The more important question (as far as we're concerned) is: What will the stars be wearing? Will young nominee Hailee Steinfeld rock something new from Prada or something vintage? Will cohost James Franco keep his ensemble classy or kooky? Well, it's time to find out. We'll be here live-blogging the red carpet arrivals, so come back and tell us what you're loving/hating. Honeysuckle may be the cool new hue for 2011, but pink, green, beige, blue, red, and black stole the color show (if only momentarily) at Sunday’s Golden Globes Awards. Which shade was your fave?

PRETTY IN PINK: Claire Danes, who scooped up a Golden Globe, wore a bright pink Calvin Klein halter dress, while Natalie Portman (in Viktor & Rolf), Emma Stone (in Calvin Klein), and Lea Michele (in Oscar de la Renta), chose softer shades of pink.

EMERALD CITY: It was a green scene on the red carpet with Elisabeth Moss (appropriate last name!) in a Donna Karan forest-hued strapless dress, and Catherine Zeta-Jones in Monique Lhuillier. Angelina Jolie rocked a sparkly Versace dress, while Mila Kunis picked the perfect shade of green (in a Vera Wang dress) for her skin tone.

BEIGE BEAUTIES: The beiges worn by Scarlett Johansson, Michelle Williams, Sarah Hyland, and Dianna Agron were FAR from boring. Scarlett wore a sheer/lacy Elie Saab number, while Michelle wore a daisy-covered Valentino dress. Sarah Hyland and Dianna Agron went for strapless silhouettes in Max Azria Atelier and J. Mendel, respectively.

SEA OF BLUE: Jenna Ushkowitz (in Rebecca Taylor), Mandy Moore (in a colbat single-shoulder dress), and Amy Adams (in Marchesa) stayed true in gorgeous shades of blue.

LADIES IN RED: Sofia Vergara (in Vera Wang), Christina Hendricks (in Romona Keveza), and January Jones (in Versace) sizzled—not only were their gowns red hot but they were body-con, too.

BEAUTIFUL IN BLACK: Jennifer Lawrence (in Louis Vuitton), Jayma Mays (in Alberta Ferretti), Piper Perabo (in Oscar de la Renta), and Julia Stiles (in a single-shoulder ruffled dress) stuck with the classics—it's hard to go wrong with a bold, elegant dark gown.

From acting vet Michelle Williams in a vintage-y white gown to 14-year-old Hailee Steinfeld (star of True Grit) in a perfectly ruffled cocktail dress, the 2011 Critics' Choice Movie Awards was chock full of Hollywood glamour. And to think, this was just a warm-up for the rest of the awards show season! Here's a glimpse at the celebs who really showed their stuff in the dress department on Friday night...

ELLE FANNING

Elle Fanning looked like a golden girl in a heavily embellished Valentino minidress. And being the smart style cookie that she is, the mini-actress kept her shoes simple—nude Mary Janes—so as not to compete with her party frock.

MILA KUNIS

Black Swan star Mila Kunis' LBD (Little Black Dress) wasn't just any old LBD. Check out the Nina Ricci frock's mini-fishtail and ruffles. Plus, she paired it with über-cute ribbon-laced heels for another layer of uniqueness.

HAILEE STEINFELD

Hailee's tan peep-toe booties and mini-white clutch upped the cool quotient of her already hip Marchesa one-shoulder dress.

MICHELLE WILLIAMS

Blue Valentine actress Michelle looked like the belle of the ball in a Balenciaga dress, satin Salvatore Ferragamo shoes and delicate jewelry.

Our favorite part about awards shows is that we get to see dozens of hot trends on dozens of celebrities at one time. Such was the case at the 2011 Critics' Choice Movie Awards, where sheer fabric frocks carried over their dominance from 2010 and "mullet dresses" had their official coming-out party. Check out the other statement-making looks we loved.

SHEER DELIGHT: Short and sheer was the name of the game as actress Eva Mendes rocked an allover see-through Valentino number. Meanwhile, Elle Fanning's Valentino dress and Keri Hilson's black frock featured just hints of mesh.

MULLET DRESSES: It was business in the front, and party in the back for Mila Kunis in Nina Ricci, Michelle Williams in Balenciaga, and Khloe Kardashian in an animal print gown.

PEACHY KEEN: Flesh tone dresses full of embellishments, including glitter and ruffles, had a strong showing. We loved Jennifer Lawrence's L'Wren Scott pencil dress, Hailee Steinfeld's Marchesa cocktail dress and Elle Fanning's flippy Valentino dress.

STRAPLESS SWEETHEARTS: With or without jewelry, Amber Rose, Sofia Vergara, and Mandy Moore slipped into sexy collarbone-revealing gowns for the red carpet. Amber's mermaid dress and Sofia's metallic Temperley London showed off their figures, too, while Mandy's Monique Lhuillier just skimmed over her curves.
