Harmony Korine, the auteur behind Spring Breakers and Kids, directed Dior's latest fragrance ad. The commercial features a model wandering around a decked-out mansion before stumbling across a secret garden where a heavily remixed version of Die Antwoord's "Enter the Ninja" drops in. The last time Korine was tapped to direct a fashion film was 2011, for Proenza Schouler. It was widely panned.

Korine's films tackle issues like poverty, mental illness, and dysfunctional families. He isn't a traditional filmmaker: His work is non-linear, experimental, and surrealist with elements of Vaudevillian minstrelsy, dark humor, and absurdism. In other words, he's never been one for mainstreamers, so it's interesting to see him so restrained. In honor of Harmony Korine, here's a roundup of other outlandish fashion films. This one's for the weirdos. Mazel.

JULIETTE LEWIS & DAFT PUNK X GAP

Let's start off simple. In 2001, when the only songs by French robotic duo Daft Punk on your radar was the house favorite "One More Time" or the meme bait "Harder Better Faster Stronger", they were tapped by Gap along with Juliette Lewis to shill jeans. Oh 2001, what a year to be alive.

Ashley Benson in Matthew Williamson, Lil' Mama in Sherri Hill encrusted dress, and Shay Mitchell in a short, metallic sequin dress, all at the 2011 MTV Movie Awards in Universal City, California, on June 5, 2011.

Like red carpet disco balls, these gals didn't just wear sequins: They wore metallic-colored, glitter-shard-coated frocks that seemed simply rolled in all of the amazing things that make an event like this fantastic. Gold flecks, crystal bits, and confetti-like details appeared en mass last night at the MTV Movie Awards, and these ladies quite literally put on the ritz and it actually looked quite lovely.

Young Ashley Benson from the fairly addicting "Pretty Little Liars" rocked a Matthew Williamson with sequin embellishments in a warm copper, showing that metallics can be done without getting all shiny. Then Lil' Mama, who looked like she played "Katamari" in dark crystals with some bangin' accessories, took the shiny shard trend to the edgy extreme in a black encrusted strapless by Sherri Hill (please note: the killer cuff doesn't look overdone because everything else of hers is perfectly straight and to the point). As if sequins and bling wasn't glamorous enough, Miss Shay Mitchell (also of "Pretty Little Liars") came through with a sleeveless minidress in a shiny, textured body-con cut. She scores in a traditional shape with an intricate pattern.

In last night's episode of Gossip Girl, "Petty in Pink," we found out that Lily Bass Humphrey (Kelly Rutherford) got sentenced to house arrest instead of who-knows-how-many-years in the big house for sending an innocent man to prison. She'll spend the next nine months hiding her ankle monitor, but that means she gets to stock up on new long maxi dresses and wide leg slacks (always looking on the bright side).

An editor contacted Dan with an assignment to follow and slyly report on visiting Prince Louie Grimaldi. Turns out the French prince was actually Blair Waldorf's (Leighton Meester) fling from her summer spent in Paris. His majesty defied his parents to spend time with his American crush (Blair) in NYC. To ensure Louie was able to stick around, she staged a kiss with Dan Humphrey (Penn Badgley) to trick the prince's handler into believing he isn't commingling with the commoner. OF COURSE, the scheme backfired. Charlie Rhodes (Kaylee DeFer) sent footage of the "kiss" to Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) and Gossip Girl, who proceeded to send it to the entire Upper West Side.

Meanwhile, Raina Thorpe (Tika Sumpter) was on the hunt for her birth mother but didn't want to tell Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick), who was drowning his own misery in booze, straight-up Howard Hughes-style. At first, Chuck wanted to stop Raina from finding her mother, but then he had a change of heart.

And, what would an episode of Gossip Girl be without a high-fashion party scene? In this installment, it was the annual UWS Pink Party (Think: P. Diddy's white party...with petal, salmon, and honeysuckle hues). Check Blair's Oscar de la Renta strapless frock, and Serena's Marchesa mini. HOT.

Olivia Palermo at the Matthew Williamson and Mulberry Salon fashion shows in London on Feb. 20, at the Rachel Roy Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week show in New York on Feb. 15.
Photo: Getty Images/WireImage

The City alum Olivia Palermo has been piling on the layers, wearing everything (but the kitchen sink) to fashion shows from New York City to London...and we sort of love it! For the Matthew Williamson show on Feb. 20 in London, Olivia went cowgirl in a knitted turtleneck, furry cream coat, Topshop pleated maxi skirt and a fedora. That same day she sat front row at the Mulberry fashion show wearing a flippy miniskirt, scoop neck tee, tan blazer, caramel Mulberry leather jacket, gray lace-up heels, and an animal print Mulberry bag...whew! While in New York City a few days earlier, Olivia popped by the Rachel Roy fashion presentation just as covered up in a tailored coat, leather skirt, leopard print lace-ups, and a ton of fur. A TON.

+ Do you like Olivia Palermo's layered look? Or, is it just too much?

America Ferrera, Drew Barrymore, and Jessica Lowndes
Getty Images

America Ferrera, Drew Barrymore, and Jessica Lowndes proved that accessories can do wonderful things when they showed off the cute belts they paired with fun party dresses recently. On August 21, America Ferrera wore a dark brown belt by 3.1 Phillip Lim to cinch the waist of her Catherine Malandrino orange dress for a screening in Miami, while Drew Barrymore punched up her camo-green Alexander McQueen dress with a studded belt by Balmain for the London premiere of Going The Distance on August 19. And 21-year-old 90210 star Jessica Lowndes added color to her printed V-neck dress from Matthew Williamson's resort 2010 collection with an eye-catching coral belt when she attended an Emmy kick-off party on August 24.

We were majorly inspired when we saw all the pretty patterned dresses Whitney Port's been wearing lately, like the Matthew Williamson dress that she wore to The Hills: A Hollywood Ending and the fun Moschino frock she wore the Much Music Awards. So we figured we’d take a page out of Ms. Port’s fashion agenda and try and get our hands on a colorful dress of our own. Enter Motel Rocks’ Celia Dress in Peacock Red ($54). With its square sleeveless shoulders and sheer back, this dress not only has tons of color — think vibrant turquoise, cherry red, and stripes galore — but also super-sexy. Pair it with black brogues during the day for a casual look, or dress it up for evening with nude pumps.

Left: Hills finale; Right: Much Music Awards.
Photo: George Pimentel/WireImage; PictureGroup

If we had to choose one person who brought the most color to tonight's red carpet for The Hills: A Hollywood Ending, it would have to be Whitney Port. Tonight she wore a Matthew Williamson tank dress that featured cut-outs at the waist, with colors like blue, pink, yellow, red, and purple printed all over it. It's so rainbow-tastic! Do the cheery colors boost her mood? They must, because she wears brightly-colored frocks a lot. Just a few weeks ago, she wore a similar printed dress by Moschino to the Much Music Awards on June 20. SO. MUCH. COLOR. We're wondering what her former People's Revolution boss Kelly Cutrone, lover of all things black, thinks about Whitney looking like a pack of tropical Skittles all the time, because we kinda love it.
