Before you freak out, we know cutting off the back of your shoes seems crazy because, well, it totally is. Basically, this all started when a meme-y photo of all-white Nike Air Force Ones that got hacked into very (very) DIY slippers took over our Twitter feed. Even though most people publicly shamed this slashed set of sneaks, one person mentioned that it could actually be pretty cool—if only it were executed better. So, since it's summer, and we're feelin' free, we decided to do just that: cut up a pair of Nikes in hopes we could make it look less insane and, heck, maybe even wearable. Check out how it all went down (in GIFs!) below.
STEP 1: GATHER YOUR MATERIALS

Congrats! You've decided to cut up a great pair of shoes for the sake of fashion. To start, you're gonna need some sneakers (duh). We swiped up a pair of pre-worn Nike BRS Classics ($40) at Crossroads, but, hey, if you want to splice up a pair of brand new sneaks, we won't judge. You'll also need a pencil with an eraser, a multi-purpose utility knife ($6), and super glue ($6).
