And the Oscar for the Best Dress at the 2014 Academy Awards goes to... Ugh, bear with me. This seal is stuck. Man, this thing is REALLY on there. Does anyone happen to have, like, an envelope opener or something? I JUST got this mani and really don't want to ruin my nails. Anybody? Bueller? OK, well, in that case, we're just going to have to give you our top 10 because TBH, we didn't want to pick a favorite anyway.

OHHH, LUPITA. How do we love thee? Let us count the ways! JK, nobody has time for that (our list is LONG). But seriously, we are obsessed with Nyongo's "Nairobi blue," deep-V custom Prada gown. Paired with a delicate gold Fred Leighton headband, diamond leaflet earrings, and her adorable "family totem" frog-shaped ring, the Best Supporting Actress winner proved, yet again, why she's fashion AND film's newest "It" Girl. She just. Can't. Lose.

Just when we thought we couldn't love a gown on Kate Hudson more than that slinky, yellow satin number she wore at the end of How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (GAH. SO GOOD!), she swoops in from left field with this beaded, belly-grazing Atelier Versace gown, complete with shrouded cape.

Word on the street (and by street we mean Twitter) is that before taking the long walk down the red carpet, Jennifer Lawrence made a pit stop at the McDonald's directly across the street from Hollywood's Dolby Theatre. Hey, this show is LONG and a girl's gotta eat. Thankfully, from what we can tell, it looks like J-Law was able to keep any and all grease stains away from her stunning, strapless Christian Dior (duh) gown. She was not, however, able to stay on her feet, as the actress took yet another tiny tumble (despite telling ABC that she even did a "stair test" before the show) while exiting her limo. At least this time was at a less conspicuous moment?

Awkward MTV Movie Awards

Sometimes the coolest part about the Movie Awards is seeing some of our favorite MTV stars get all glammed up on the red carpet. The ladies from Awkward brought out their fashion A-game in short, springy frocks that we totally want to steal this season. Molly Tarlov sported a killer pale pink dress with black floral print and structured cap sleeves. She accessorized with pink and blue pumps and a super cute bow ring. She threw her hair up in a messy 'do and finished the look with a soft smoky eye, pink cheeks, color-blocked nails and a light pink pout. Jillian Rose Reed looked bright and bold in a cut-out white and blue Charlotte Ronson dress with white striped L.A.M.B. peep toe heels, blue Neil Lane drop earrings and a stone cuff. She sported her signature red waves to one side with a similar smoky-eye-and-pink-lip look.

Despite the scorching temperatures on the 2012 Emmy Awards red carpet, the dresses certainly looked fall-ready in their jewel-toned hues. Kat Dennings, Jena Malone, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus all sported an autumn-appropriate brownish-red oxblood color in three totally gorge ways. Kat wore a gathered strapless J. Mendel dress with a plunging sweetheart neckline and gathered chiffon overlay. She accessorized with a statement gold Neil Lane cuff and matching cocktail ring with Louboutins underneath. Kat vamped up her beauty look with shiny black nails, burgundy lips, light brown shadow, and tousled waves. Perf!

Holland Roden Video Music Awards

OMG, the VMA red carpet has officially opened, which means our red carpet host Holland Roden is about to talk all-things fashion with some of our favorite celebs. Eeee! As you may remember, we followed the Teen Wolf star all week long on her timeline to the VMAs—we watched her try out some hairstyles, test out some makeup looks, and even try on some dresses. So, what did she decide to wear on her big debut? A DARLING Pamella Roland number! Her flirty light green frock has a sheer overlay with tons of tiny beads embroidered all over. GLAAAMMOORR. She nailed her beauty look by pulling her hair back into a bouffant retro updo and paired it with a seriously heavy smoky eye and nude lip. PERF. For her accessories, she finished the look with beige peep-toe Giuseppe Zanotti pumps and Neil Lane jewelry. To get all the latest updates on the red carpet, keep checking back on our live blog!

Miley Cyrus Engagement Ring

If there's one thing we love to talk about here at MTV Style, it's ENGAGEMENT RINGS. *eye twinkle* Ever since we broke the news that Miley Cyrus got engaged to Hunger Games star Liam Hemsworth, we've been waiting SO patiently to hear more deets about the ring, and EEP. IT'S FINALLY HEREEEE! People magazine broke the exclusive news, and, man, they got every last detail on this bad boy! It turns out Liam chose jeweler Neil Lane to help him create "something unusual" yet "something really beautiful and romantic" for his special lady. (OMG, are you crying yet?) The end result was a GORGE 3.5-carat cushion-cut diamond ring, which is handcrafted in 18-karat gold. The band has carved floral motifs and the stone is from the 19th century! Whoooaaa.

Not a day goes by in pop culture when an engagement (Britney, bish!) or divorce (sorry, Kobe) isn't announced. Isn't love grand? While a breakup is enough to bring a tear to our eyes and lead to nights binging on ice cream and playing Adele on repeat, we LOOOVE to hear a man got on one knee and proposed to our fave pop princesses. And 2011 was the perfect year to make a relationship OFFIC with STAHS like Kim Kardashian, Anne Hathaway, and (GASP) the one and only Brit Brit sporting new bling. Of course, the relationship is most important (cough, Kim Kardashian), but we won't be mad if he puts a ring on it with a suurrrious, show-stopping sparkler. So, let's see whose rock shines the brightest, shall we?

Newsflash: Miss Britney is a woman with class. She's all grown up and ready for real love, hence her understated Neil Lane ring of 4 carats from her former agent Jason Trawick. Sure we've never seen a celeb with a ring this small, but we've also never seen Brit more in love. And that's what's most important anyway...right? RIGHT?

The red (er, fuschia) carpet at Sunday night's 83rd Annual Academy Awards (aka the granddaddy of all awards shows) featured a handful of classic fashion hits (trains, bustles, etc.), plus a slew of surprise ensembles (who knew so many celebs would rock red?!). Here are the looks we’ll be talking about ALL week long…

MILA KUNIS: Black Swan star Mila Kunis brought the glamor in a lacy lilac Elie Saab gown, which she wore with Neil Lane jewelry. J'ADORE!

MICHELLE WILLIAMS: Michelle Williams, who was nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role for Blue Valentine, balanced the conservative cut of her champagne Chanel gown with head-to-toe encrusted crystals.

MANDY MOORE: Mandy Moore, who performed with Zachary Levi, rocked the red carpet in a twinkling gold Monique Lhuillier gown.

FLORENCE WELCH: Florence Welch, who performed "If I Rise" from 127 Hours, let her fiery red hair do the talking, while keeping her gown choice—a lace tiered Valentino number—muted.

JENNIFER LAWRENCE: One of the first celebs to walk the red carpet, Jennifer Lawrence got the party started in a sleek red Calvin Klein shift that looked painted on!

Taylor Swift at the 2011 People's Choice Awards in Los Angeles on Jan. 5, Natalie Portman on the 'Vogue' January 2011 Cover.
Photo: Getty Images/Vogue

It's only January, but Taylor Swift and Natalie Portman are already rocking spring colors that have us swooning! Last night, Taylor picked a peach J. Mendel frock for the People's Choice Awards in Los Angeles. The country crooner dressed up the pleated dress with a beaded bracelet, Neil Lane jewels, and beige Prada heels. Meanwhile, check out Natalie on the January 2011 issue of Vogue in the same ballerina-inspired gown, which she wears with huge diamond earrings and blossom pink lips. Both celebs looked fabulous in the ladylike look, but Taylor's interpretation won us over—the bright red pout and chic chignon give the ensemble some edge. But what do you think?

It's always a little bit of a gamble when a celebrity decides to wear red on a red carpet, as clashing is sure to ensue. But, the stars of Glee went for red anyway, and clash they did not! Jessalyn Gilsig wore a strapless Nicole Miller gown with a ruffle detail along the front that stretched into a train, while Jenna Ushkowitz wore a halter-style red gown by Kevan Hall and jewelry by Neil Lane. We would've liked Jenna's dress better if the straps were positioned closer to her neck, so to pick a favorite between these two red looks, we have to go with the simple and elegant Jessalyn.

+ Which red dress do you like better — Jessalyn or Jenna?
