Haim for 'Nylon.'
Photo: Nylon's Facebook

Haim are no strangers to magazine covers, but they just landed the cover of Nylon's annual music issue, which is a BFD. For their first Nylon cover, the trio brought their long locks, strong brows, and best stares. I know my last name isn't Haim and I can't play any instruments, but, um, can I join the band? Or will they at least teach me to get glossy hair?

Vanessa Hudgens

While we are the #1 fans of Demi Lovato's blue hair and its first feature on the cover of Nylon, we were eagerly waiting to see who the magazine tapped for their February cover. Well, we finally got our answer: It's Vanessa Hudgens! Two Disney stars in a row? Maybe Miley for March? The ex-Mousketeer hat trick is tempting.

Anyway, we're getting ahead of ourselves. Let's talk Vanessa. While the actual cover isn't out yet, Nylon just released some preview shots from her spread, and we are definitely feeling her styling. In one shot, she wears a pink bra with an Armani Exchange leather jacket and sheer Burberry Prorsum skirt. Are bras and leather jackets really becoming a thing? Katy Perry just wore the look in GQ, and if that's the trend for spring, I better stock up on publicly acceptable bras now.

Demi Lovato

Demi Lovato and her blue hair for 'NYLON.'

It looks like our dreams of a blue-haired Demi Lovato on the cover of a magazine have come true! Thanks, NYLON: we should've guessed the fave magazine of ~alt girls~ everywhere would give Demi's blue tresses the attention they deserve! Demi debuted her blue 'do a full two months ago and has since graced three magazine covers, but all featured blonde Demi. Now, like an early Christmas present, a blue-haired Demi spread has been wrapped and delivered. So, while it may only be the 2nd day of December, this month is shaping up already.

The color of Demi's hair has faded since she first dyed it (even since it glowed in the "Neon Lights" video, actually). Her dark roots have also grown out, turning it into an enviable colorful ombre. It also looks like she's collecting a number of blue hued highlights around the front of her face, and, TBH, I'd start a blue highlight collection too if it would look like Demi's hair and not a Smurf hibernating on my head. Alas.

Lana Del Rey

Lana Del Rey on the cover of the November issue of 'NYLON.'
Photo: NYLON

After hearing nary a peep about Lana Del Rey for months, she's popped back into our lives big time in the past few days. First, of course, was her role in the Kimye engagement: Kanye hired a 50-piece orchestra to play her song, "Young and Beautiful" as the soundtrack to the proposal. Then, she crops up on NYLON's November cover with insanely shiny, deep auburn hair (it's not that far of a cry from her dark brown hair the last time we saw her, on the Tropico poster, but it's noticeably lighter). Where ya been, LDR? It doesn't really matter, TBH, we're just happy to have you back.

On the cover, Lana wears a Calvin Klein denim shirt, a black bustier from Nasty Gal, and a DKNY skirt. She may be laying low, but she can still bring it when it comes to magazine covers: she has, after all, had ample experience. Gone is her signature cat eye; in its place a some subtle pink eyeliner and mascara.

We've grown accustom to Demi Lovato serving up angst, edge, black lipstick with silver body paint and spiked manicures all throughout her promotion of DEMI, but much like the album itself, D isn't all wailing up-tempo pop ballads and smoky eyes. She embraces her softer side (as far as the photos are concerned, that is) in NYLON's music issue, working a fresh-faced natural beauty look—pretty pink lips, the BEST mascara, and a subtle sheen of blush across the apples of her cheeks—and very demure ladylike steez.

Avril Lavigne on the cover of Nylon.
Photo: Brooke Nipar/NYLON

When it came out in 2002, I used to listen to Avril Lavigne's debut album, Let Go, over and over again on my headphones in the dark. The spokeswoman for sad, "Complicated" teenage girls, Avril was the early aughts' Alanis, and at least everyone I knew was completely into it. It's more than a decade later, now, and both we—the girls listening to Let Go in the dark and Avril herself—have grown up, but she is still going strong, making music and refining her signature skater girl style. This month, she's on the cover of NYLON's music issue, giving a cuts-right-through-you stare that has us fully convinced that growing up hasn't taken away a hint of her edge.

Holland Roden Adam Lamber Ashley Benson Jaden Smith Audring Patridge Nylon Young Hollywood Issue Party

Whew, if there's one event we'd want to squeeze into all year long, it'd definitely be last night's Young Hollywood party hosted by NYLON! I mean, literally all of our favorite people arrived decked out in the most effortlessly-cool ensembles, and, oddly enough, they all seemed to stick with one particular trend—the head-to-toe monochrome look. Holland Roden, Adam Lambert, Ashley Benson, Jaden Smith, and Audrina Patridge sported outfits devoid of ANY color (like, not even on the shoes or accessories, y'all), and considering it's almost summer AND they're in California, this feels pretty out of character, dontcha think? Luckily, us New Yorkers love a good ol' gothy ensemble, so we're obsessed with their dark take on typically springy trends.

Chloe Moretz covers the May 2013 issue of NYLON.
Photo: Courtesy of NYLON.

Ever since the very beginning in the '90s with cover girls like Liv Tyler and Gwen Stefani, NYLON's always been one to show total and complete support for the latest crop of rising stars. But we've got to admit, for this year's annual Young Hollywood Issue, the magazine outdid even itself by choosing none other than Miss Chloe Grace Moretz (!!) to represent the new guard of up-and-comers. We first suspected something was up several weeks ago when the actress tweeted this photo of her rad pop art manicure, and now we can see the spread in all its fun high fashion glory. Fresh off her recent Teen Vogue stint, where she showed her tough-girl side in tulle coupled with studs and leather, Chloe's getting playful and punky here with mixed prints, tons of slogan tees, and a complete '90s style resurgence. Who knows? Maybe Liv Tyler's 1999 cover really HAS come full circle in 2013. See even more of the photoshoot below!

You know that sparkly feeling that you get when the stars align, Mercury is FINALLY out of retrograde (um, it's about time), and things just feel right? Yep, it's basically a collision of awesomeness, and that's exactly what happened this afternoon when we got word that Hayley Williams is NYLON magazine's new cover girl. Talk about perfect timing! The Paramore singer fronts the publication's April anniversary issue, which not-so-coincidentally happens to be when the band's fourth album drops (and Hayley's orange MAC collection debuts). Needless to say, this will be a BIG month for Paramore and fans alike, and honestly, we can't really think of a better way to get psyched up.

Chloe Moretz Nail Art

Chloe Moretz and her killer nail art.
Photo: Getty Images/Chloe Moretz's Instagram

Since it's #ManicureMonday over here at MTV Style, we've already got nail art on the mind, but when we were perusing through Chloe Moretz's Instagram feed (like we usually do, NBD) we stumbled upon a KILLER mani that we need to discuss ASAP. She posted a picture of her tips (above) two days ago with the caption, "Best. Nail art. Ever!!!! #nylonmagazine sneak ;)" Umm, OK, now we officially have two reasons to freak out: an out-of-this-world mani and a Nylon magazine shoot? Yesss! If her outfit is anything like her decked-out tips, she's going to be in a seriously pop art-inspired ensemble, and we can't WAIT to see that. But first, let's take a closer look at these nails, shall we?
