Beyonce

Crazy in love, y'all.

When we first saw the spectacular lineup for Beyonce and Jay Z's On the Run wardrobe, we just had one question: Where's the Givenchy? Thankfully, it only took 12 hours for fashion house head Riccardo Tisci to answer that question with a few Instagrams. The couple's BFF and frequent collaborator—see also: Watch the Throne artwork, and Beyonce's tour wardrobe and Met Gala dresses from the past couple of years—is responsible for at least two creations on this tour.

The black and white American flag dress Beyonce wears is one of Tisci's designs. TBH, I never considered the possibility that our country's flag could make for such a stunning bustle but leave it to Bey and T. to pull off the seemingly impossible. But also, Beyonce can literally make wallpaper look good.

The 2014 Met Gala might have been days ago, but the world is STILL talking about Beyonce's red carpet appearance—and not just because Jay Z pretended to propose to her. Her ultra-glamorous getup, consisting of a Givenchy dress and birdcage veil, was easily one of the evening's best couture displays. And judging by the designer sketch Beyonce posted on her website, the ensemble was stunning from the very start.

Jay Z, Kanye West

Jay Z and Kanye West reunite the Throne at SXSW.

Don't rub your eyes. The above picture of Jay Z and Kanye West is, in fact, NOT from 2011. Jay and Ye joined forces again LAST NIGHT (March 12) during Austin's SXSW music festival—a Watch the Throne reunion of epic proportions that was only just announced this Monday (March 10). Amidst many of their solo hits—"Tom Ford," "New Slaves," "Izzo (HOVA)," and "Runaway" to name a few—Yeezy and Hov performed Throne classics like "H*A*M," "Who Gon' Stop Me," "No Church in the Wild," "Otis," and of course, "N***** in Paris" for their two-hour, 35-song set. But the music wasn't the only part of the Throne they brought back: They also resurrected their Givenchy performance steez.

Erykah Badu

Erykah Badu’s relationship with Givenchy keeps getting better. Not only did the neo-soul songstress partly inspire the fashion house’s Afrocentric-meets-Japanese spring collection, she was also tapped to star in their campaign. And it’s one of the better ones of the season, with Badu flawlessly modeling some of the collection’s strongest looks, like the off-the-shoulder beaded mask tapestry and the deconstructed tux kimono with a top hat. In a batch of campaign photos Badu posted to her Facebook page, she also mixes pieces from Spring '14 with ones from past seasons and her signature turban.

Givenchy is continuing its streak of casting famous faces in its campaigns, and for spring 2014, the label has tapped legendary singer-songwriter Erykah Badu! Style.com got an exclusive look at the images and chatted with Givenchy creative director Riccardo Tisci about his decision to cast the singer, who, he says, "is one of the most stylish women [he's] met in [his] life."

Tisci said that he had Erykah on his mind when designing the 2014 spring collection, which will feature a combination of African and Japanese influences. The black-and-white campaign image, shot by Mert & Marcus, features a short-haired Badu in what is essentially a poncho with the shoulders cut out. The beguiling top has no sleeves and no obvious collar, but instead hangs from two thick straps around her neck. On the runway, the bright graphic on the front looks like it's made of sequins, but in the ad, it's completely muted, giving the piece an entirely different feel.

Rihanna performing in custom Riccardo Tisci on the Diamonds World Tour.
Photo: Getty

Last night, Maud and I had the pleasure of seeing Rihanna in Brooklyn for the New York stop on her sold-out Diamonds World Tour. Actually, the show was supposed to be on Saturday but there was some scheduling kerfuffle involving The Nets and that's pretty much where my knowledge and interests end because I know ZERO about all sports outside of competitive eating. Anyway, as you know, we've been covering the DWT extensively, as well as the incredible performance outfits dreamt up by her genius styling team Adam Selman and Mel Ottenberg, so here are our collective thoughts on Rihanna's DWT togs IRL. Warning: be prepared for a DEPRESSING amount of envy given the all-custom-everything nature of the clothes that are displayed on the borg-perfect body of a bajillionaire.

Beyonce

Only Beyonce can pivot from the middle of her first international arena tour since becoming a mother to acting as honorary co-chair of the 2013 Met Gala (a night we affectionately refer to as "Fashion Prom") without missing a beat. More accurately, not only does King Bey take to the red carpet as if she's been doing nothing but swimming backstroke in a pool of moisturizer until the big night, she COMMANDS it. Mrs. Carter flew solo dolo for this year's Costume Institute Benefit, but who needs a date when you're dripping in seriously FUEGO Givenchy duds?

Kim Kardashian & Kanye West

KIMYE ALERT. As soon as Kanye West and Kim Kardashian placed their pegs on the Met Gala red carpet for the kick off of the "Punk: Chaos To Couture" show, all of our eyes were on them. Partly because Yeezy has been known to rock the throw back punk uniform of the kilt, partly because what was girly girl Kim going to wear to rep the show theme? Well, here we are sitting pretty thinking we've got all things figured and—BAM!—the duo surprises us with some seriously unforeseen 'fits.

Riccardo Tisci and a look from Givenchy's FW 2010 collection, which, according to 'The Telegraph,' 'owes something to the spirit of punk.'

Whether we're talking about bands like The Clash or just kids hanging out on King's Road in London, nobody can deny the commonalities running through punk's storied fashion history: safety pins, studs, zippers, mix-matched materials, and that's just the beginning. But as we learn from Riccardo Tisci's recent interview with U.K.'s The Telegraph, punk is so much more than an outfit. The creative director of Givenchy is also the co-chair of tonight's (!!!) Met Gala, and he's been assisting Met curator Andrew Bolton for almost a year in research for the exhibit "Punk: Chaos to Couture," which officially opens May 9. Talking with The Telegraph in the months leading up to tonight's big event, Tisci shares his thoughts on punk's fashion influence, injecting a rebellious attitude into his clothing collections, AND why true punk style is lacking in society today. Find out what we learned below, and keep your eyeballs glued right here on MTV Style. We'll be covering the event all night long!

Rihanna Givenchy Tee

Serious question, y'all: Would you ever wear a T-shirt with your face on it? Believe it or not, this is an actual thing Rihanna had to ponder recently thanks to that custom Givenchy jersey she received back in February. In case you forgot, Riccardo Tisci sent her a black tee with a GIANT impressionistic painting of her visage on it (red lips and all!), and we've been dying to know when she'd bust that bad boy out to wear IRL. Well, we finally spotted RiRi sporting the tee in question at a Milwaukee Bucks vs. Miami Heat game yesterday, and it looked a lot less, uh, creepy than we imagined.

I love these two as a couple. What a festive way to celebrate two important events in their life. Mariah looks like a dream.
