For someone who usually sticks to a black-and-white color palette, Janelle Monae has found an impressive amount of ways to keep her outfits fresh. Point in case: the gigantic pearl ring and necklace she wore to the Chanel Cruise 2015 collection in Dubai. Janelle posted photos of her accessory game to Instagram and it's like nothing I've ever seen before. These pearls are, like, the size of golf balls! Fine, the three in the ring are maybe more like ping-pong balls.
Nope, that's not a typo. This here is a glistening set of GRASS knuckles brought to you, world, by Icelandic design company HAF by Hafsteinn Juliusson. The four-finger ring is part of HAF's Growing Jewelry collection which features two styles of single-finger rings, two multi-finger rings (including the above knuckles in question), and two necklaces. HAF explains that the aim of Growing Jewelry is to "redefine modern values" via their "clash of jewelry and gardening couture and organism." Basically, they think people, especially city-dwellers, should be closer to nature "as nature [is] the presupposition of life."

If there's one thing we love to talk about here at MTV Style, it's ENGAGEMENT RINGS. *eye twinkle* Ever since we broke the news that Miley Cyrus got engaged to Hunger Games star Liam Hemsworth, we've been waiting SO patiently to hear more deets about the ring, and EEP. IT'S FINALLY HEREEEE! People magazine broke the exclusive news, and, man, they got every last detail on this bad boy! It turns out Liam chose jeweler Neil Lane to help him create "something unusual" yet "something really beautiful and romantic" for his special lady. (OMG, are you crying yet?) The end result was a GORGE 3.5-carat cushion-cut diamond ring, which is handcrafted in 18-karat gold. The band has carved floral motifs and the stone is from the 19th century! Whoooaaa.
Fingernail rings in action.

Seriously, our jewelry box is getting out of control here, you guys. It reached overflow status about a year ago, and now that we've added yet another obsession to add to our stash, we're going to have to call in for backup. Check out these brilliant fingernail rings, courtesy of online shop Gwaan. The basic version gets the Honey, I Shrunk The Kids treatment with these miniatures that won't slip past your first knuckle (an even smaller version of the midi rings, if you can believe it...). Lady Gaga's done it, Rihanna's worn them, so isn't it about time we hop on board? (not that we really needed a reason to try...)
2 Chainz and Dope Couture brass knuckles.

Just yesterday, rapper 2 Chainz was arrested in New York's LaGuardia Airport for carrying a pair of "brass knuckles" in his bag, according to MTV News. After the "metal knuckles" inside his carry-on set off an alarm, police took 2 Chainz into custody for misdemeanor possession of a weapon in the 4th degree. When news spread about the rapper's arrest, friends Big Sean and DJ Drama took to Twitter to clarify what they think what was really in 2 Chainz's carry-on.
According to some, the brass knuckles in question were ACTUALLY just a four-finger ring. Big Sean tweeted, "2 chainz ain't have no brass knuckles, it was a 4 finger ring that spelled hood. We had a shoot yesturday n he was rockin em." DJ Sean even Instagramed a picture of 2 Chainz wearing the four-finger ring, which shows the word "DOPE" etched along the front.

Intergalactic cats, dapper bunnies, pensive pugs, and unicorn princesses. Welcome to the wonderful whimsical world of Locketship, an L.A.-based accessory company specializing in animal-themed pendant jewelry. Founded by designer Maria Ewing, Locketship is all about adorning your ensembles with a bit of imaginative flair. When we first spied the label's Floating Cat Ring featuring a tabby kitten tumbling through a star-laden galaxy, we were completely smitten. We spent ages perusing the vast array of rings, necklaces, and earrings Locketship offers, squealing with delight at everything from a giant Persian cat face ring to one depicting a Brussels Griffon pup snarling in a pink sweater. Sold through its online shop and on Modcloth (as well as in shops in Belgium and Japan), the line is becoming something of a MUST for any accessory fan. Who wouldn't want to accessorize with an asteroid bunny? We spoke to designer Maria Ewing about how she started her own line, why she's so into animal faces, her accessory hero Katy Perry, and what to expect from her next collection.
Selena Gomez at the Women In Film Pre-Oscar Party.

Selena Gomez got inked up with a wrist tattoo last week, and we preeeeetty much flipped our ish. Not in, like, a bad way. The girl is 19 now and more than allowed to get some permanent body art. She could get a full SLEEVE if she wanted to! We're just intrigued, and frankly a little excited, that between the ink and the punky blue and purple hair, the squeaky clean Alex Russo of Wizards of Waverly Place is notably toughening up her image. We had originally reported that Sel went under the gun for a tiny black heart, but Selena told Access Hollywood at the Women in Film Pre-Oscar party on Friday night that she was actually drawn up with an itsy bitsy music note!
We're less than 24 hours away from that annual eruption of hearts, flowers, plushy animals, and all pink everything. Well, here in Uncle Sam's United States, anyway—it's already Valentine's Day in Australia! And it seems our favorite pint-sized power couple (Justin Bieber + Selena Gomez 4EVA) is getting a head-start on the lovey-dovey festivities. Yes, it looks like our man Biebs may have taken a cue from Beyoncé and "put a ring on it." OK, not THAT kind of ring (do note that we're looking at a close-up of Sel's RIGHT hand, not the left), but a jewel-laden ring nonetheless.
We don't know about you, but we're not really into the whole dressing in all over red or pink on Valentine's Day. Not that we begrudge those who wish to shout their love spirit in color, mind you, we just sometimes feel we can celebrate in a more subtle way (like maybe just with a pint of ice cream, some festive bangle bracelets, and yet another viewing of The Notebook). Whether you're celebrating with a loved one, your pals, or in an independent who-cares-about-this-holiday (but maybe I do still kind of care?) sort of way, here are some Valentine's Day-inspired accessories to get into the heart pumping holiday spirit.
LOVE HEARTS AND TINY KISSES
We're big fans of this Jonathan Adler Pink Heart Sunglasses Case which recalls vintage Lolita and a happy place in retro Palm Springs where there is sunshine and the possibility of love. These NW3 Lips Earrings are cute on their own and don't even need a holiday to accompany them on your ears. Pair 'em with an all black outfit and a stack of ASOS Neon Love Rings. The Kate Spade Meet Your Match bangle is also subtle and able to be worn year-round. But if you want to be more overt and put LOVE around your neck like a tattoo on an arm sleeve, we suggest the Tatty Devine Enamel Love Necklace. Need more ideas? Right this way!

Accessories are having a serious moment right now. From Lady Gaga's gold-dipped hands to street-style stacking bracelets and watches, if you aren't sassing up your nails, then you're mos' def getting your multiple accessory game on. What's interesting is we've been noticing that these trends are all starting to blend, and that's a beautiful thing. We've spied ladies wearing rings on their mid-fingers (a trend the fine folks over at Refinery 29 have also weighed in on) and sometimes stacked together near the knuckle. We've also seen rings being worn around fingertips (thanks to Beyoncé's "Run the World" video). Lucky for all of us, the high street stores have taken notice, too, and are ready to give us what we want (nay, NEED) and all at an affordable price. Thus, as we prepare to usher in the spring season—wayyyy earlier than is climatically possible—we urge you not only to change up, but MOVE UP your accessory game...albeit just on your fingers.
Favorite Brooklyn jewelry shop Catbird is already in on the midi-ring game and offering Silver Alphabet Rings (heart-shaped ones, too, just in time for Valentine's Day). The key to wearing this look is to stack thin, delicate rings, like the ASOS Pack of bow rings, which are just dainty enough. You can also go for an accordion ring, which does the work for you by connecting a regular-sized ring to a midi ring.
