This week's climactic episode of Gossip Girl both solved some problems and created a whole slew of new ones. Serena (Blake Lively) is still acting as the de facto Gossip Girl but Nate (Chace Crawford) and Serena's new half-sister Lola (Ella Rae Peck) have her number. No, wait, Diana Payne (Elizabeth Hurley) has the real Gossip Girl's phone number and uses that to get Serena to steal back the day planner that Nate stole from Diana's hotel room. In it are coded phone numbers possibly revealing the whereabouts of one Jack Bass (Desmond Harrington) who may or may not be Chuck's (Ed Westwick) real father.

Speaking of which, Sir Chuckles enlists his former love Blair (Leighton Meester) to help him scheme a way around Diana's codes. She agrees and Serena decides to help, too, once she discovers that Chuck needs to take down Diana in order to find out who his father is but not without trying to steal the day planner first. They all wind up at a mansion that is actually a brothel (told you this episode was bazonkers) with Lonely Boy Dan (Penn Badgley) in hot pursuit thinking that Blair is canoodling with Chuck again. But wait, there's more! Serena gets super close to finding out who the real Gossip Girl is then totally fails. Diana reveals her true colors and sooooo much more behind the closed doors of the mansion. And let's just say there are secrets in this place of the ghostly variety. If you haven't caught up yet, we won't spoil the rest for you. Check back here weekly for our fashion recap!

Elle Fanning at the 2011 Children of Chernobyl's Children at Heart gala and Chloë Moretz at the "Hugo" premiere on Nov. 21, 2011, in New York City.
Photo: WireImage/Getty Images

It could just be us, but it seems like Chloë Moretz and Elle Fanning could be best pals. Aside from being talented (and precocious) young actresses, they're both only a year apart in age (Chloë is 14, Elle is 13), and they vaguely look like sisters. We're also basing our BFF assessment on the fact that they recently showed up to two different events wearing similar outfits. At a Children of Chernobyl charity event, Elle wore a demure and age-appropriate pale pink dress cinched with pink bows near the waist. Miss Moretz also wore bows to the premiere of her new film Hugo. Her neutral Dolce & Gabbana ballerina dress featured a whole row of flattened bows down the bodice. Both dresses featured bare arms, too, and both ladies wore their blonde hair parted down the middle. But, seriously, why aren't Elle and Chloë hanging out braiding friendship bracelets right now?

Gossip Girl may have skipped a week last Tuesday, but we pick back up right where we left off, and the short break may have been wise because this episode was a DOOZY. Dan (Penn Badgley) is pumped up about the whirlwind success of Inside from secret publication to anonymous author reveal, script optioning, and NOW he's a top 10 bestseller. Serena (Blake Lively) and her boss Jane (Michael Michele) bring Dan in to discuss the paper-to-film transition, but the meeting turns sour as Jane tries to Glee it up and basically turn the story into Newsies. Blair (Leighton Meester), with her wedding day fast approaching, takes to the scheme board "one last time" for an elaborate bridesmaids gauntlet among select minions throughout the years and the tournament's dark horse, Charlie (aka Ivy) (Kaylee DeFer). Chuck (Ed Westwick) is seeing a therapist who has been paid off by Prince Louis (Hugo Becker) to "light his fuse" in hopes that Blair will be reminded of Chuck's monstrous side and never go back to him *cough*goodluckdude*cough*. Nate (Chace Crawford) gets huffy about his boss Diana (Elizabeth Hurley) and her unwillingness to come forward with Nate as a couple, and it aaaaall comes to a head guessed it! A PARTY! It's a big episode for longtime fans, so in case you haven't caught up yet, we won't spoil the rest, but check back here weekly for our fashion recap!

Amanda Seyfried at the "In Time" premiere in London.
Photo: Getty Images

How many stylists are screaming in agony over Amanda Seyfried's daring choice to wear (GASP! CRASH NOISES! LIGHTNING BOLTS!) shorts for the red carpet premiere of her new film In Time co-starring Justin Timberlake? This is just not done, people. Do you have any idea what kind of phosphorescent curve ball this throws into the space-time continuum that is red carpet uniform dressing? Not only did Miss Seyfried—who we might add, looked lovely and lit from within—wear shorts, she wore a short SUIT, and not just any short suit, an electric blue H&M one with black piping and a black button-up shirt underneath. It was like she was giving the finger to cocktail dresses everywhere, especially the expensive ones. Also? She decided to up her rebel game by buttoning her shirt all the way up to her upper throat region as if to offset her super short shorts. But we're not complaining. Oh no, we're rejoicing because someone finally had the cajones to try something DIFFERENT.

When we think of "Ladies Who Lunch," we usually think of stiff skirt suits and wide brim hats (is it just us?). A far cry, indeed, from the fashion fete that we spotted during the 2011 Academy Awards Nominations Luncheon, which was held yesterday in Beverly Hills. Celebs, including Michelle Williams and Amy Adams, came decked out in pretty pocketed frocks, look-at-me pumps, and the cutest clutches we've seen in a while. Here are all of the midday looks that caught our eyes...

MICHELLE WILLIAMS: Michelle Williams stepped out in Chanel—a black silk blouse and a beige tweed skirt—plus, black Sergio Rossi shoes.

NATALIE PORTMAN: Mama-to-be Natalie Portman showed off her growing tum in a Lanvin satin teal kimono dress, which she paired with Charles David red satin pumps.

HAILEE STEINFELD: Hailee Steinfeld rocked a little black dress with black heels from Aldo, which we are beginning to think is the tween actress' fave place to stock up on shoes.

JENNIFER LAWRENCE: Jennifer Lawrence buddied her black-mini purse and Roger Vivier satin sandals with a white Chloe chiffon dress.

AMY ADAMS: Amy Adams slipped into a white ruffled Valentino dress, which she teamed with gold platform pumps and a white cuff bracelet. Perfection.

Amid the weird UES return of Damien (the drug-dealing misfit who helped Jenny, um, ruin her life), Gossip Girl's 13th episode of season four, "Damien Darko," showed Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) looking fierce for her first few days as a fashion intern at W magazine. It didn't matter that her main duties included stapling, filing, and stuffing gift bags—Blair rocked a Valentino cardigan with pink short-shorts and patterned tights one day and a Bensoni print dress with DKNY tights on another day. But when Dan Humphrey (Penn Badgley) "the sixth W intern" rained on Blair's parade, proving that he can indeed tell the difference between Marc Jacobs mustard pumps and Louis Vuitton lemon stilettos, the two butt heads. The bickering culminates at a W party where the two race to impress the higher-ups first, but they both wind up getting the ax after their boss catches them fighting on the floor (Blair in a slinky BCBG dress and Dan in a Theory suit). Classy. Meanwhile, Raina Thorpe (Tika Sumpter) of Thorpe Interprises, who can seriously work a Jay Godfrey shift, continues to sleep with the enemy, Chuck Bass, amid continuous company controversy. Double classy. Who do you think looked best?

Kristin Cavallari and Christina Aguilera at the 'Burlesque' premiere on Nov. 5 in Los Angeles.
Photo: Getty Images

Kristin Cavallari of The Hills and Christina Aguilera both chose bright emerald strapless dresses for Burlesque premiere in Los Angeles last night. Kristin chose a fun Zuhair Murad fall 2010 rhinestone-covered mini, which she paired with nude Sergio Rossi shoes (she owns the same pair in black!). Meanwhile, Christina arrived in a floor-length fall 2008 Elie Saab gown and accessorized with minimal jewelry and a tousled half-updo. We love that both girls rocked jewel-toned dresses just in time for fall, but we're liking Christina's floor-length gown better. We love how she kept her look minimal, as opposed to the sparkly embellishments of Kristin's dress, proving that less is more. But what do you think?

At the 2010 EMA in Madrid, Spain last night, some stars went for full-on glam, like Rihanna in her statement-making gown. Others, like the band members of 30 Seconds to Mars, kept it street in sneaks and denim (but still classy ... and HOT). Here are the top eight looks — from both ends of the spectrum.

Rihanna performed "Only Girl (in the World)" in a flower-covered dress, combat boots and a princess crown. The whole look was very "Rihanna." Pre-show, however, she sparkled in a cream-colored, one-shoulder Marchesa gown from the label's spring 2011 collection with tons (and tons) of glorious ruffles that looked fantastic with her flaming red hair.

As the official host, Eva Longoria Parker wore many outfits during the 2010 EMA, including walking the red carpet in this stunning look — a short-short-REALLY-short baby dress with puff sleeves and a sheer V-neck by Georges Hobeika from the designer's spring 2010 couture collection. It really showed off her killer legs.

Eighteen-year-old singer/songwriter Emily Osment accessorized a body-conscious BCBG Max Azria dress with black platform pumps, a studded clutch and a hint of blue eye shadow. The mix was perfectly age-appropriate, bright, and fun, not to mention ... attainable!

Every once in a while you find a dress that needs no pomp or circumstance. Such was the case with Shakira, who opened the show with British rapper Dizzee Rascal. For the red carpet, the Colombian singer teamed her gold and black shimmering dress with, well, not much. And she still looked gorgeous.

When it comes to style, the 30 Seconds to Mars boys are a triple threat. Save for Shannon Leto's blue shoelaces, each band member interpreted a monochromatic, gray and black palette to their liking. The result? Cool and classy ... times three.

Katy Perry lets her dresses talk for her, as was the case last night when she walked the red carpet in a statement-making (literally) beaded red dress with the words Admit One written on it. The dress is from designer Jeremy Scott's spring 2011 collection, and it was cute and fun, just like Katy. We do love her extra touch — a pair of blue Sergio Rossi slingbacks, since blue shoes are so hot right now.

Miley Cyrus wore a tiered white dress with a black tie by D&G for her EMA arrival, which she paired with a stack of gold bracelets. The look itself was mature, covered up, and grown up, which is probably why we like it so much, considering she wore basically nothing during her performance.

Goodbye, orange hair! Hayley Williams of Paramore showed up to the EMA with a new bright magenta hair color, and it looks great on her. Her makeup looked like she was going for alien/otherwordly inspiration, but that's just Hayley, and why we love her out-there style. As for the outfit, she wore a mix of sheer top, black pants, and knee-high lace-up combat boots. This combination wouldn't work on just anyone, but Hayley made it look great.

Alexa Chung in Chanel. From top: Ciao Bella boots, Sergio Rossi Metallic Disco Bootie, and Clone Silver Ankle Boots.

Alexa Chung’s space-age pearl-studded booties by Chanel were the perfect footwear to pair with her her structured Valentino trapeze top and flouncy skirt at GQ’s Men of the Year Awards in London on Tuesday. In a perfect world, we’d snag our own pair of pearl-accessorized booties (are you reading this, Karl Lagerfeld?), but no such luck. However, what we can get are similar pairs for a fraction of the price, like these pointy-toe boots by Ciao Bella ($94.99), which feature ruched detailing in the front. Or totally bling out with these mirrored booties by Sergio Rossi ($199.95). They'd pop perfectly if you wore them with black matte tights, and they're like little disco balls for your feet. We're also digging a pair of two-tone silver and gold booties by Clone ($148), which have a shiny black and silver heel for extra oomph. As if wearing metallic shoes weren't enough oomph for you already.

Jessica Lowndes in Report Signature and Sergio Rossi.
Photo: Getty Images

Jessica Lowndes, star of 90210, stormed right onto our Shoe Radar this week with her collection of satin pumps. On Aug. 27, she wore a pair of champagne-hued heels to a pre-Emmy party in West Hollywood. The shoes were by Report Signature and featured a silver crystal buckle and bow on the outer edges, near the ankles. What a nice touch! Then, just last night, Jessica Lowndes attended another Hollywood party wearing a pair of gray satin shoes with a tiny peep-toe in the front by Sergio Rossi. Jessica Lowndes definitely had the best shoes of the week!
