Whew, a lot happened on The Carrie Diaries last night. Like, A LOT. Carrie confronted Weaver, Bennett searched for a new job, Maggie had pregnancy complications, Mouse tried to spice up her relationship with West, and Sebastian continued to be a beautiful angel on Earth. Carrie also won a trip to Paris, but wasn't there to claim her prize and will forever be known as "the girl who didn't go to Paris." JK, that nickname was doled out to Lauren Conrad long ago. As usual, we got the deets on Carrie's wardrobe from the show's costume designer, Eric Daman, so check them out below!

The episode opens with Carrie checking out The New York Post and--surprise!--finding out that Weaver called her "diminutive," "phony," and, worst of all, "suburban" to Page Six. Eric told us, "Carrie reads The New York Post's 'Page Six' every day, but wasn't expecting to see herself being called diminutive. I wanted her look for this scene to be anything but. I was really looking to have that idiosyncratic Carrie style shine through and let her look keep a sense of whimsy while her mood darkened. The photorealism "Funland" print pencil skirt from Topshop fit the bill (and fit AnnaSophia Robb's cute curves like a dream!). By pairing it with the Opening Ceremony navy polka dot crew neck, the look stays chic and just serious enough to balance the fab T&J turquoise, floral statement necklace."

After a brief hiatus The Carrie Diaries returned with Carrie still dating Weaver (#hey), but also still fostering feeling for Sebastien (#hey). She's also enrolled in a big time writing class at The New School, so her need to look stylish in the city is at an all-time high. As we've done all season, we chatted with Eric Daman, the show's costume designer, about Carrie's looks from the episode and the decisions behind her costumes.

After being hounded by Weaver about writing all week, Carrie is like, "BYEUH Weaver you're annoying/not supportive." Though he's QT, she made the right decision, IMHO. Eric gave us the deets on her look: "We wanted to keep Carrie's big break up moment a surprise, so I opted for a really fun, playful and iconic Carrie look. The bustier shoe print dress by Eva Franco was perfect! Shoes?!? All over a dress!? Carrie LOVES shoes and I love this dress for this classic walk-and talk SATC style stoop scene. The lime green and pink Kate Spade cardi with plastic flower embellishment was the ideal layer to keep AnnaSophia Robb warm on a cool night and look cool and colorful for the scene."

Last night's episode of The Carrie Diaries was full of romance and, of course, on point '80s steez. We caught up with Eric Daman, the man in charge of the cast's clothes and accessories to get the deets on Carrie's wardrobe as she carefully navigated her Sebastian-filled high school halls and spiced up her new romance with Weaver in New York.

As usual, Carrie looks sleeker for study hall than most people do for black tie events. Eric explained, "Carrie's school style is making statements this season: she is a senior, after all, AND interning at Interview Magazine! This outfit is school girl chic and sexy, the black Maeve blouse keeps her artsy edge but the soft 3D floral detail on her collar and sleeve keeps her fresh as a daisy. Punchy red earrings from Etsy are totally on trend 80's and very Carrie. Her Polka dot Kate Spade kitten heels are hallway appropriate for this stylish student on the go! Teetering in 5" Manolos is a high school no-no!" It should be noted that I did not design Carrie's incredible 3D shirt, despite the shared name. I'm going to start gluing flowers to all my of clothes, though, because they look awesome.

After the tragic Sebastian/Carrie breakup last week, young Miss Bradshaw is back at Interview, pitching stories and trying to move beyond her role as personal cappuccino fetcher. She also strikes up a hot new romance with a young playwright (we will mourn her relationship with Sebastian a little bit less because #HEY Weaver), and meets her dad's new girlfriend for the first time. Carrie changes a lot throughout this episode, so we got the costume deets and backstory for a few of the outfits from the show's costume designer, Eric Daman.

When she's at Interview, of course, CB is spending time in New York rather than Connecticut, so she needs to stand out. Eric described his reasoning behind Carrie's polka dot dress during the episode's opening montage: "This ModCloth dress had me seeing spots and made Carrie a stand out style star on her lunch break. I gave her a vintage belt and beads for some B52's/80's inspired retro realness. Her Jessica Simpson color-blocked sandals are perfectly in tune and keep the look aspirational AND affordable!"

Last week, the second season of The Carrie Diaries premiered and we were treated to behind-the-scenes fashion deets from Eric Daman, the show's costume designer. The second episode kicks off with Samantha, Carrie and Walt's "temporary" (though she's been living in their apartment for 3 weeks) roommate, walking around in the buff and working as a phone sex operator. Walt urges Carrie to ask her to leave, which she tries to do via phone, wearing this magenta animal print dress and crystal necklace, both from Topshop.

The Carrie Diaries

A still from The Carrie Diaries Season 1, Episode 1: "Win Some, Lose Some."
Photo: The CW

In case you were unaware, The Carrie Diaries is back! We watched the preview, peeped the poster, and now, we're ready for Carrie to be back in our lives for a second season! Obviously, the on-point '80s fashion is critical to the show, Carrie's character, and her future, adult self, which is why we're so excited to share our interview with Eric Daman, The Carrie Diaries' Costume Designer. Check out the full interview below, and if you want more Eric in your life (and, I mean, after reading this, how could you not?), you can follow him on Twitter (so many BTS photos!), or check out his website.

MTV STYLE: You worked with Patricia Field on Sex and The City for three seasons, how has that experience influenced how you dress teen Carrie on The Carrie Diaries?

Eric Daman: I draw from SATC every day, trying to create "buried treasures," or as Amy B. Harris (creator/producer/writer), calls them, "Easter eggs," that hopefully will resonate with the audience as a-ha moments, leading them to think, "A-ha! That's where the inspiration for the Carrie necklace came from!" Like, Young Carrie wearing a signature '80s style C necklace by Alex Woo. It is an intentional process that hopefully is nuanced enough to feel fresh and new, but integral to who Carrie is stylistically. I am elated and honored to have been asked to carry on and breathe new life into such an amazing fashion torch. Ultimately, I hope to do right and pay homage to the fashion icon we know and love as well.

The Carrie Diaries

In case you haven't had it marked in your calendars for weeks like we have, The Carrie Diaries is back on Friday! We'll finally see how Carrie's summer in NYC went (spoiler alert: she ends up there as an adult), as well as how her job at Interview is going (spoiler alert: she ends up as a newspaper columnist). Seems like young Carrie has adult Carrie figured out prettttty well. In a new preview, we see that the gang is (largely) back together, Samantha makes her grand entrance, and Carrie is dealing with heartbreak. Boo Sebastian. Boo Maggie.

How is Carrie coping with her feelings? A new look, obviously! Carrie debuts a shorter and sleeker 'do in the preview and admits that the sting of defeat is made "easier by an awesome new look." We agree, CB, we totally agree. Carrie's fabulous '80s fashion is also back in full-force: there are a lot of prints (we see you, polka dot shirt and leopard print shorts), bodycon dresses, and overalls this season.

The Carrie Diaries

Style yourself like Samantha.

Rejoice: Young Carrie Bradshaw will finally meet young Samantha Jones! The Carrie Diaries doesn't return to our TVs until October 25th, but The CW released a poster for the second season, and we are so excited to see that it features Carrie and Samantha. All our old fashionable friends are back together! Actually, they're meeting for the first time (since The Carrie Diaries is a prequel to Sex and the City), but whatever. We are verrrrry excited to see what Samantha dressed like in the '80s: if this poster is any indication, we're in for some serious style.

WWCW: What Would Carrie Wear?
Photo: Splash/Nasty Gal

It's hard to imagine Carrie Bradshaw pre-Manolos (see also: "I've spent $40,000 on shoes and I have no place to live? I will literally be the old woman who lived in her shoes!" – SATC, Season 4). But as costume designer for The Carrie Diaries, Eric Daman (who, BTW, apprenticed with Pat Fields and basically bathed in a haute closet doing costumes on Gossip Girl) has done a totally ~radical~ job at doing just that. Like, totally. For sure.

Oh SNAP, y'all! The more we find out about The Carrie Diaries, the more excited we're getting for its premiere! While there's still no firm premiere date that we've seen, The CW has announced that the awaited Sex and the City prequel series will make its on-air debut this coming fall. As card-carrying SATC die-hards, we're dying to watch how little Carrie comes of age in the Big Apple and befriends little Miranda, little Charlotte, and little Samantha. What makes our eyes pop out of our skulls, though, is the prospect of having the fashion-centric prequel's wardrobe department live under the wing of the very same network that brought us Gossip Girl. (!!!!!!!!!!) Can you just IMAGINE?
