Sure, the Oscars at the beginning of the month brought an end to traditional awards season, but Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards usher in the 2014 spring/summer season—one marked by shorts and miniskirts, bright colors, and beachy waves. The temperatures might still be lurking in the high 40s on the northern east coast, but the PYTs on the KCAs orange carpet are helping us get inspired for warmer weather.

Nick girl Ariana Grande paid homage to the network with a little orange shift dress. Rather than exactly matching the carpet (and the awards blimps!), the latter half of "Sam & Cat" opted for a lighter tangerine. Her dress wasn't the only part of her outfit repping for Nickelodeon: Her quilted Chanel purse, which she tweeted a closer picture of, was customized with iconic Nick cartoon characters from Rugrats, Hey Arnold!, Catdog, and Aaahh!!! Real Monsters.

Most pop stars work hard to cultivate a style all their own. For Lady Gaga, it's wigs and over-the-top #ARTPOP. For Miley Cyrus, it's a platinum pixie cut and pantless leotards. And for tiny diva Ariana Grande, it's long waves, half-up/half-down, and flouncy A-line skirts. No matter the occasion, be it a performance, a magazine cover, or an Instagram selfie, Grande has pretty much worn her hair the same way since she started topping the charts last year. "So what?" you say. "Who cares?" Well, some people, apparently. Which is why the singer has finally decided to get something off her chest, er, scalp.
We've been taking the month of December to pour over the best, biggest, and most '90s fashion moments of 2013. Should old acquaintance be forgot and never brought to mind? NO. Hence all the reminders. But a fresh start never hurt anyone. As we bring 2013 to a close, we've enlisted our old friend Jarvis Derrell of #shehashadit to help punt the past 365 days clear into tomorrow. Kweens, may we present to you: #2013hashadit.

Ariana Grande on the cover of 'Teen Vogue.'

The new year hasn't even started yet, but Ariana Grande already has two very different magazine covers under her belt. While her Cosmopolitan joint features Ariana in a black crop top and skirt, her Teen Vogue cover incorporates tons of light, airy pastels in pink, purple, green, and blue. It's no secret that Ariana loves a good headband, so accordingly, Teen Vogue embellished her signature half-up half-down 'do with a twisty gray band. (I know what I'm wearing on my next bad hair day. That thing covers the entire top of her head!)

If you're not familiar with the curtain skirt, that's probably because it only makes sense to wear one if you are a female pop star performing on a stage. Like, I'm pretty sure not even Miley Cyrus would wear one in public. As a matter of fact, I'd say the curtain skirt is definitely more of a costume piece than a functional garment, because IMHO, it isn't even an ~actual~ skirt—more like an unfinished peplum. The curtain skirt is usually worn with a bodysuit and can vary in length and coverage, as demonstrated by both Ariana Grande and Iggy Azalea this weekend at Wild Jam in San Jose, California.
Ariana and Miley get in the holiday spirit for Jingle Ball in Minnesota.

Deck the halls with crop tops and high-cut leotards, y'all. Minnesota's Jingle Ball happened in St. Paul last night, and BOY, did things get festive. Now I like an ugly Christmas sweater just as much as the next person, but Ariana Grande and Miley Cyrus took holiday cheer to a whole new level with their uber-yuletide outfits. And, as you might expect, one of them was naughty and the other was nice. (Although we're sure Santa appreciates the sentiment, regardless.)
Selfies were errywhere this year. Oxford Dictionaries named selfie the word of 2013, which, based on celebrity Instagram accounts, makes total sense. Celebs love taking selfies and we, as bloggers and breathing humans, love looking at said selfies. We've come to rely on them to tell us what our faves are wearing, where they are, and who they're hanging with. It isn't until you look through every Instagram of Rihanna's from the past year that you truly appreciate just how much the badgal loves sharing her face/her new hair color/her products with the rest of the world. But Ri's not the only one doing it. We've rounded up our favorite selfies from the past year so you can peep 'em and refer back when taking GPOYs of your own. Enjoy!
NICKI MINAJ: MOST SELFIES NOT FOCUSED ON HER FACE
Nicki Minaj shares her selfies with two special guests.
For most people, selfies are all about the face. Obviously, Nicki Minaj is not like most people. Her selfies tend to draw attention to the two assets that sit below eye level and could easily stay out of frame. Nicki got bolder about baring as the year went on. While she began 2013 with some heavy cleavage, by the end she was straight-up giving us full-frontal pasties. Her Halloween costume, in case you couldn't tell, was a police officer. It's been a while since we've gotten any Instagrams from her Minajesty, so we're hoping she's planning to make up for lost time in 2014.
When we realized that the 2013 American Music Awards would showcase a whopping 16 live performances, we knew we were in for a grip of exciting brand new performance outfits. What we forgot about (momentarily) was that the stacked set list ALSO meant the red carpet would be full of high-octane #FASHUN. The stars turned it our for the AMAs step-and-repeat, and we're breaking down our favorite looks of the night.

Taylor Swift may have skipped the stage this time around, but she still won big. No, not just by looking drop dead in that glittering gold Julien MacDonald minidress. T.Swizzle also took home the award for Artist of the Year as well as Favorite Female Country Artist and Favorite Country Album.
The MTV EMA have been host to some amazing fashion, from Selena Gomez's parade of host outfits to Lady Gaga's Paco Rabanne moment to a slew of other memorable performance looks, and tonight's Amsterdam red carpet was no exception. Here are our favorite 2013 MTV EMA looks from the step-and-repeat!

Talk about a knockout! Iggy Azalea is slaying it in all directions with this Dilek Hanif Couture gown from the Turkish designer's Spring 2011 collection. (Side bar: exactly how many years have to pass before you can consider something "vintage"?) That asymmetrical neckline. Those side cut-outs. The red platform accent heels. THOSE MASSIVE NAVEL-HIGH SLITS. *pauses to catch breath* Also, a little P.S.A. from us and The New Classic herself: she is, in fact, wearing underwear.
