Lady Gaga channels The Beatles' "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" on "So You Think You Can Dance."
We ought to get this right out of the way: Last night on So You Think You Can Dance, Lady Gaga showed up looking an awful lot like an Italian Sgt. Pepper, cried tears of joy while her makeup stayed sedentary, and then got so excited she took off her massive (and maybe dangerous) heel-less shoe and whipped it on the stage. All of these facts should be presented with no comment (really), but since that’s not our job, let’s take a look at the emotional, psychedelic, shoe hawking state of our current Lady of Gagadom.
Wearing a bell-bottomed, Italian-print jacket (looks like vintage Versace, [there are Medusas at her shoulders] but no confirmation), a massive bright red patent sailor cap, and her teal wig, Gaga sat in to judge last night's top 10. She took her cap off (maybe, because—and all reports indicate that this was not a hallucination—a fly was circling it) as the night progressed, but one thing that didn't make a move was her apparently waterproof eyeliner. When dancer Marko Germar did an exquisite performance to Jeff Buckley's "I Know It's Over", Gaga was tearstained, telling Marko, "I'm just so proud of you...There were so so many things I did wrong when I was younger and so many things I wish I could take back, and I felt every moment of that through your dance tonight." Marko cried. Gaga cried. We cried. But our moods soared when Melanie Moore and Sasha Mallory did a duet. Gaga was so impressed, she explained, "In the dance community when you do a really good job, what you do is throw your shoe on the stage." (As a once formally trained dancer, I have never heard of this tradition, but whatevs.) Then, in the most true of Gaga form, she peeled off her 12-inch, heel-less contraption of a shoe and whipped it on the stage. Audience members ducked, Sasha was almost taken out, but the girl caught the massive wedge. No report on whether Gags got her kicks back, but we kind of hope not.

UPDATE: Lady Gaga was kind enough to sign her shoes and leave them behind for the So You Think You Can Dance crew! Awwww. How cute.
