What do you think of when you see/hear the word "Fashion Week"? Clothes, models, runways, celebrity sightings, etc., etc.? And how many nouns do you ramble off before your brain lands on "DJ"? Probably quite a bit, right? Well, you better change that ASAP unless you want your fashion shows and parties scored by silence because Fashion Week DJs are some of the most VITAL mood-makers of this whole weeklong affair. We sat down with DJ Chelsea Leyland to talk about the seven-day soiree in her (fabulous) shoes.
Chelsea speaks candidly for us about her New York Fashion Week as being "constantly on the run," as she attends shows, DJs events, and even spins for the Naeem Khan show, sound-tracking floor-length evening gowns with Marilyn Manson. Describing her style as eclectic, punky meets vintage (think heavy-metal armor elements mixed with frilly lace frocks) Chelsea explains how it actually mimics her taste in music as well. She admits that, unlike most DJs, she doesn't think about comfort when deciding what to wear, and you'll believe it when you check out the video of her closet tour (YOWZA heels + hours of spinning records = OUCH, but also fabulous, so IDCare *hair flip*).
