Converse has already rolled out several editions of designer Chucks, teamed up with musicians like M83, and remained an integral part of the Hollywood style star uniform...yes, even on the red carpet. It seems like the sneaker giant has transformed its classic slim silhouettes into pretty much everything already, but now the Chuck Taylor All Star is getting yet ANOTHER makeover just in time for Halloween. Converse teams up with a crew of San Francisco artists like Alán González and Kris Mestizo for a spooky-cool collection that's too good NOT to wear year-round.
And according to the artists, sneaker inspiration can come from pretty much all over. González said his bony black sneaks were inspired by X-ray glasses he was obsessed with growing up; "The kid in me came out and this memory inspired me to design a sneaker that would deliver exactly what those glasses claimed in the ads." Mestizo, on the other hand, went with a white pair of kicks influenced by The Mummy. "The Mummy to me was one of the scariest costumes I remember growing up. It seemed as if they were actually real, and I was so excited to design my version of mummies on a pair of Chucks!" Mission accomplished. The Converse collection will launch online at www.shoebizsf.com, with 100% of proceeds going to charity. You know we never need an excuse to go shopping, but when it's Halloween-themed AND it helps people? Consider that a no-brainer.
