If Sky Ferreira put "become the face of a major hair-care brand" on her Christmas list this year, then she must have been RULL good, because that's exactly what she got! (Ugh. Why didn't I think of that?!) Ferreira, who's been tearing up the airwaves with her debut studio album, Night Time, My Time, just announced on her Tumblr that she's officially the new face of Redken. In order to prepare herself for the first campaign, the singer/model made a drastic move by taking her hair from bleached blonde to dark brown! Her eyebrows made the ol' switcheroo, too, but with a twist: Her formerly dark-brown brows are now blonde! V edgy.

Some might find the partnership surprising, as Ferreira's not exactly known for her healthy-looking locks. (She does intentional bed head like nobody's business, though.) But the singer/model is well aware that she has some work to do before her hair is ad-appropriate, which is why the color change came about in the first place. "I [dyed] my hair dark & [got] it trimmed so it could get healthy again," Ferreira wrote on her Tumblr. "Hopefully it’ll be long soon. Lots of Vitamin B, Omega 369, Aminos, Viviscal, deep conditioning treatments, Redken All Soft & Diamond oil. JUST SAYING."
And according to Ferreira, Redken love runs in her family and has for as long as she can remember. Sky told Style.com that her grandmother, a hairdresser with an in-house salon who boasted Michael Jackson as a former client, initially introduced her to the brand as a child. "She used to chase after me with a brush [and one of the brand's spray bottles]," she says. (That sounds kind of terrifying to me, TBH.) Thankfully, it left a ~positive~ lasting impression on Ferreira. Redken's repackaged styling line, with Sky starring as their "muse," is set to launch in March 2014.
