That didn't last very long. A mere month ago, a flaxen-haired Sky Ferreira was announced as the newest face of Redken and quickly opted to return to her brunette roots for the occasion. (Well, mostly. Her brunette eyebrows got the bleach treatment. #rolereversal) But now, according to some behind-the-scenes photos from photographer Eli Schmidt, Ferreira's hair will be back to its bleach blonde ways for her first official commercial. (Her eyebrows, however, are brown again. If you're getting confused, just imagine how her scalp feels.)
The BTS shots (of which there are MANY) show Ferreira doing what she does best: making grunge look glamorous. And if these candid commercial pics are any indication, Sky's first ad will be a far cry from the likes of Redken's squeaky clean, perfectly styled competitors. True to her off-set look, the singer/model rocks flannel shirts, baby doll dresses, combat boots, and one VERY adorable panda bear T-shirt (likely via The Mountain). But they tap into her glamorous side, too—especially in one black-and-white shot which we could have SWORN was actually a snap of 1980s-era Madonna. (Seriously. Go watch "Express Yourself" right now and tell us we're wrong.)
Ferreira's hair also gets a few baby-pink streaks (LOVE) and a wavy pompadour that appears unaffected by gravity and kind of looks like a mullet. (Don't worry, Rihanna—if mullets become a thing, you'll get full credit.) No matter how they have her styled, though, the girl looks GOOD, and we can't wait to see what the first full commercial has in store.
