If you were watching the Billboard Music Awards last night, chances are you spent the better part of your morning trying to reassemble the broken shards of your face because the night's performances melted them right off. If you didn't get a chance to watch the show because you were doing something else fabulous or you couldn't tear yourself away from/were forced to watch the Miami Heat vs. Chicago Bulls matchup, we understand, and luckily for you, we have a delicious two-part fashion recap for you starting with our favorite performance outfits! Stagewear is pretty much guaranteed to be out-of-this-world, and the performers from last night's BBMAs definitely didn't disappoint: Cee Lo Green wore a blinged-out bedazzled suit for his medley performance (which included a twisting suspended piano), the Black Eyed Peas kept things futuristic in angular and light-up vestments, and Ke$ha descended from the rafters in a massive feathered bodysuit. But the powerhouses who really rocked out at full fashion volume were Rihanna, Britney Spears, Nicki Minaj, and Beyoncé.

RIHANNA

Rihanna performs at the 2011 Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas on May 22.
Photo: Getty Images

Rihanna was all-white all night, from the red carpet to the stage. During her performance of "S&M," she wore a white bondage (appropriate) latex bodysuit, crystal-encrusted handcuffs, over-the-knee heeled spectator boots, and suuuuper subtle micro-fishnets (because sometimes you have to know where to draw the line, you know?). Her ever-changing scarlet hair took the form of a wavy, feathered bob, and the performance was everything you'd expect from the girl's song about kinky bedroom stuff (writing on the floor, stripper poles, yaddayadda), until...

BRITNEY SPEARS

Britney Spears performs at the 2011 Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas on May 22.

BOOYA! Britney makes a surprise appearance in a matching black bodysuit with mid-calf black boots, and a latex bunny mask (which gave me horrifying flashbacks of Donnie Darko, but that's more of a personal problem than anything else). She rips off the mask and the two take their respective Flashdance chairs. Finally, RiRi and Britney end their duet in a flurry of feathers from a black satin pillow fight and fuel the dreams of the country's teenage boys for another week.

NICKI MINAJ

Nicki Minaj performs at the 2011 Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas on May 22.

Nicki Minaj opens up her performance clad in all black-and-white, directing a choir of Barbies under black light. On top of her latticed cut-out mini, she wears an angular half-robot-half-armadillo inspired Gareth Pugh cropped jacket which is removed by someone in a chicken costume. (These parentheticals are to give you time to fully absorb the insanity that was that last sentence.) Beneath the jacket, we see her bondage-esque latex cone bra and the intricate webbing between the cups and straps.

BEYONCÉ

Beyoncé performs at the 2011 Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas on May 22.
Photo: Getty Images

Last night's Millennium Award went to the one and only Beyoncé Knowles after a heartfelt montage of praises from legends like Bono, Stevie Wonder, and Barbra Streisand, and the most face-meltingly AWESOME live performance I've seen on TV in a while. Robed (if you can even call it that) in a chain-web bodysuit or minidress or you know what it's technically called doesn't really matter because your brain can't even process simple things like letters and symbols when you watch this woman perform, Queen Bey goes so hard in her performance of of 'Run The World (Girls)' (as if her music video wasn't impressive enough) dancing in front of bananas animation that perfectly corresponded with the choreography and closed with a 30-plus girl-army of fierceness. Watch the performance for yourself below!

While we weren't personally amongst the sun-soaked masses in Indio, California over the weekend for Coachella, we were indeed skulking allover the Internet watching Kanye's streamed performance last night for a million hours (snippets and setlist can be seen here) and checking out party pics and celeb shots of all our favorite bold names and performers. Of the slew we saw, we particularly dug deez.

IN THE CROWD:

Katy Perry, Kelly Osbourne, and Rihanna at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in Indio, California on April 15 and 16.
Photo: Getty Images

A wide-brimmed hat definitely seemed to be the most popular sunscreen choice and if it wasn't the most protective, it was certainly the prettiest. Katy Perry, Kelly Osbourne and Rihanna all went for a lightweight straw chapeau and its versatility can be seen here. It was retro pretty with printed sundresses (gingham D&G for Katy and a beautiful Southern-looking '40s number for Ms. Osbourne) and yet aptly rugged paired with a camo M-65, denim cut-offs and a very serious expression on Rihanna.

ON THE STAGE:

Robyn, Yelle, and Alexis Krauss from Sleigh Bells performing at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in Indio, California on April 15 and 16.
Photo: Getty Images

Skin-tight spandex was par for the course on Robyn, Yelle and Alexis Krauss of Sleigh Bells fame. Whether it was a printed two-piece flung on with ginormous creepers, or a full, leopard-print catsuit with strooooong shoulders (also with creepers, interesting!) OR paired with an awesome basketball jersey that pays homage both to Michael Jordan AND the "Bells" :) we loved this shellacked layer of goodness on the pretty pins of our favorite stage ladies.

ON BOY WATCH:

Penn Badgley, Kanye West, and David Macklovitch of Chromeo at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in Indio, California on April 16 and 17.
Photo: INFdaily/Getty Images

Dude style ran the gamut over the weekend and Penn was super-duper informal (and barely dressed; much to our amusement and unanimous swoonage), showcasing the classic al fresco festival fashion we all know and love with rolled-up shorts and sunglasses. Kanye West wore an unbuttoned (nehru collared?) printed blouse aaaaaaand sneakerheads went mental over the unveiling of the much-awaited Air Yeezy 2s on his feets and Chromeo's David Macklovitch (and sibling to none other than Fools Gold label founder/DJ/Duck Sauce member/forever hottie A-Trak) donned a perfectly cut, all-white suit looking completely overdressed and GORGEOUS. Om.

Whitney Port at the 2010 Coachella Festival in Indio, California.
Photo: Courtesy of Whitney Port's website/Photo Agency

OMG you guys. Coachella is TOMORROW, and if you haven't already made your head splode from thinking what permutation of shows you're gonna watch, there's a pretty nifty cheat sheet here. But if you're fretting about what combination of things to pack/wear/ditch to ensure utmost comfort without looking like some tragic, dehydrated, feral festival gross monster (remember last year's train wrecks?), well, lucky for you (and, let's face it, ALL OF US), our girl Whitney Port has broken down the math into WAY easy, followable rules. She's got a handy-dandy, sorta-obvious-but-not-in-the-throes-of-last-minute-spazz-packing guide. Here are our highlights.

COMFORTABLE SHOES: "Go with Converse or flats. Boots can be cute, but you'll end up with pretty embarrassing tan lines and they can often get a bit hot."

From left: Kimchi Blue Canvas Mary Jane, Converse All Star Stonewashed Canvas, and Marie Animal Print Pumps.
Photo: Courtesy of Urban Outfitters/Converse/Topshop

Our solution (from left): These floral lace-ups will securely stay on your foot whilst dancing, waiting for the facilities, DASHING from show to show.

Chucks need no introduction. Heavy co-sign 365. Reliable. Comfortable. Ubiquitous (for very good reason). Plus, if you don't presently have a pair in rotation (for shame) these are stonewashed so as not to be embarrassingly immaculate.

Animal-print pony flats go with EVERYTHING for any occasion.

FLOWY, LOOSE DRESSES: "These won't take up much room in your luggage, and they're easy to move around in. Plus they're good in the heat."

From left: Funktional Asteroid Dress, Savannah Tank Dress, and Striped Prints Strapless Dress.
Photo: Courtesy of Need Supply/Nasty Gal/Forever 21

Our solution (from left): This flowy, micro-Asteroid (NEED WE SAY MORE?) print dress has multiple points of interest. Looks just as good under a denim jacket or M-65. And is extremely memorable for "missed connection"-type scenarios.

A pretty, pretty, demure Peter Pan collar perfectly offsets your artfully beat up sneakers (see Chucks above). Plus, so evocative of the LEGENDARY baby-doll dress of grunge yore.

Yes, you and your boobs will be tugging at the top of this printed, strapless dress, and you definitely should pack a bandeau unless you're petite up top BUT you and your boobs will look AMAZING and funky tan-line-free for expert Coachella status.

COMFY SUNGLASSES: "Ones that actually shield the sun and that you're not constantly worrying about falling off. It's also not a bad idea to bring a cheap $10 pair that you wouldn't be too heartbroken about losing."

From top to bottom: Look Of Love Sunglasses, Charlie Sunglasses, and Monroe Cat Eye Sunglasses.
Photo: Courtesy of Modcloth/Fredflare/80sPurple

Our solution (from top): We live and DIE by cheapo sunnies and love this floral variation on the classic Lolita theme.

Tortoiseshell in a very RIGHT NOW silhouette. For 12 bucks.

Gigantic, incognito frames for late nights and squint-faced mornings after.

STATEMENT NAILS: "Getting my nails done since I'm leaving tomorrow for Coachella and I need to get something crazy!"

Aaaaaaand, if you're so organized as to have extra fash-time to add a little something to the ensemble as a whole, definitely get your nails done in an appropriately outdoorsy theme. Peep Ms. Port's nail post, too.

Robyn, Sophia Bush, and Kate Voegele at 'Elle's 2nd Annual Women In Music event in Hollywood on April 11.
Photo: Getty Images

We think a memo went out to all the gorgeous attendees at the Elle Women in Music event, which went down yesterday in Hollywood. How else can you explain the fact that Robyn, Sophia Bush, AND Kate Voegele each showed up wearing the perfect pop of neon in their ensembles? Maybe spring is in the air. Oooooor microscopic particles pumped out by neon purveyors the world over that encourages starlets and their stylists to skew towards the ultrabright hue... Hmmmmmm... OK, enough with our conspiracy theories. Regardless of how inspiration struck, we lovelovelove it. Robyn teamed a khaki colored sheath with peep-toe flat forms and an oversize neon yellow clutch. Meanwhile, Sophia's pink pumps perked up her shiny blue Chris Benz mini-shift in a big way. And, you have to look closely, but Kate's futuristic dress pattern features swipes of highlighter. We're the type that color-blocks in mega-loud brightness and will amp it up that much more with NEON, but what about you? Do the sparks grab your attention? Are you ready to add mega-wattage to your springtime fare?

Fergie in the audience and performing at Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards in L.A. on April 2.
Photo: Getty Images

Wow. Fergie certainly looked fetching this past weekend at the KCAs, and while we adore this skintight, vibrant, all-over print Dolce & Gabbana sheath on the left (it is cramaaazing), her performance frock knocked it out of the park, bounced on a car, tottered down the street, ate a jelly sandwich and surreptitiously won the lottery shortly after curing cancer because UM, HI, IT IS MADE OUT OF LEGOS!!???? We can't imagine the man hours and eye strain required to train those little plastic bricks to scale curves like Fergie's (that sweetheart neckline is NO JOKE... if you're picking up what we're puttin' down...) but judging from one of our favorite fashiony Frenchman, JC de Castelbajac's LEGO-inspired collections of yore, his fingers are as nimble as they come. Which one do you love more? We're horrifically torn. The D&G to wear. The LEGO jump-off to pull out and stunt on friends, haters, people you love but could stand to be hated by? UGH. I can haz ALL??!! Hurts our feelings...

Miley Cyrus, Taylor Momsen, and Selena Gomez at Nickelodeon's 2011 Kids' Choice Awards in L.A. on April 2.
Photo: Getty Images

Instead of the cookie-cutter red carpet frocks (possibly form-fitting, possibly with a slit, possibly strapless) that are customary at many awards shows, celebs stepped out onto the Nickelodeon’s 2011 Kids' Choice Awards orange carpet in ensembles that gave us a glimpse into their personal styles and their unique psyches. BECAUSE even though they were all born in '92/'93 (great years, by the way), there’s a BIG difference between Selena Gomez, Taylor Momsen, and Miley Cyrus. And it all starts with their clothes...followed behind their contrasting photo poses. So the question is whose closet could you hang out in for an hour or two?

Miley Cyrus
Miley (who took home the award for Favorite Movie Actress) wore a floral maxi gown by Dolce & Gabbana. At first glance we get girly—all-out feminine, flirty, and romantic. It's exactly what her tween/teen fans (and their moms) would want to see her in. But upon closer inspection, we see Miley's edge in the form of a long layered silver chain. And is that a four-finger knuckle ring on her right hand? Yes. Yes it is.

Taylor Momsen
Sooooooo, this is the third or fourth time we've seen our wild child Taylor wearing leg-covering pants. Usually, she'd be rocking this same outfit sans the trousers. But this was the KIDS' Choice Awards, so goth girl better have covered up her goodies. OK, we're off our soapbox. Slacks aside, Taylor kept her badassssss demeanor intact by donning leather, sky-high platforms, smudged liner, hip-length extensions, a chocker, and a scowl.

Selena Gomez
Singer/actress Selena (who won the award for favorite TV actress) took the casual route by wearing a Christian Cota organza top and shorts set with pale blue Camilla Skovgaard shoes and a Lauren Merkin purse. What this look says to us about this awards show reg: "Sure, I have a closet full of cute cocktail dresses and floor-skimming gowns, but sometimes I just want to wear shorts and a tank top, DANG IT." We can relate. Kinda.

So, would you have gone summer dress-shorts, black jeans and leather, or über flowy (I mean, that frock boasted a train...) floral maxi? Tell us your thoughts in the comments and rep who you liked best.

Donald Glover on the red carpet and on stage at the 2011 mtvU Woodie Awards in Austin, Texas, on March 17.
Photo: PictureGroup

Unlike many other award show hosts who have a bajillion costume changes in the span of a few hours, Community star Donald Glover, who hosted the mtvU 2011 Woodie Awards last night, had ONE wardrobe change. Or more like a wardrobe alteration. He went from wearing a black suit with a pinkish shirt to losing the jacket for a gray striped skinny tie. It was perfectly in keeping with a MAJOR dude trend from last night because whippet-thin neck adornments were the silhouette. Check the army of skinny tie-wearing celebs, including New Cassettes, Chiddy from Chiddy Bang, and 3D Friends. Here's the thing, the Woodies are a mad casual affair (check Donald's long-day-in-the-lab rolled-up sleeves). Not like these fellas would walk up in there with dirty sweats, but jeans (clean ones) and untucked button-ups are totally acceptable. Meanwhile, a skinny tie (not a regular tie, which would just look douchey) in a messy knot is a genius way to dress up everything from scruffy hair and leather, to five o'clock shadows, while staying easy breezy. Unruly skinny ties 4 life!!

Oh man, some of us are EXHAUSTED from watching our colleagues bust their asses putting the 2011 Woodie Awards together for you. We fell back to do what we do best, which is to train our crosshairs on the red carpet (or I guess, "Black Carpet"?) to laboriously hunt for our favorite outfits of the night. We gotta say, the dudes looked great, but it's the ladies who took the cake, stuffed it in their prettily painted faces and made us fall desperately in love with EVERYTHING they were wearing. Check out some of our favorites below.

ZOE KRAVITZ:

Zoe Kravitz on the red carpet at the 2011 mtvU Woodie Awards in Austin, Texas.
Photo: PictureGroup

Actress, Alexander Wang muse and undeniable fashion plate Zoe Kravitz looks effortlessly chic as always with just the hint of color both in her hair and blouse. The accessories and three-quarter rolled-up sleeves complete the look. Plus, we always enjoy how she manages to strike the perfect combo of bored body language but smizing her face off.

OH LAND:

Oh Land on the red carpet at the 2011 mtvU Woodie Awards in Austin, Texas.
Photo: PictureGroup

Yayayayay! We love Oh Land. The Danish singer and former ballet dancer and current awesome-looking lady always dresses with a hint of kook that we find completely irresistible. Her self-titled debut album came out this week so definitely check it out. Besides, hi, who can deny a beautiful woman in a rakish hat and a dress festooned with GALAXIES? Only bad people.

GINGER SLING:

Ginger Sling on the red carpet at the 2011 mtvU Woodie Awards in Austin, Texas.
Photo: PictureGroup

If Ginger Sling looks slightly familiar to you, it's because you may know her as the touring bassist for none other than music LEGENDS Smashing Pumpkins (they ALWAYS had the badass-looking bassists, right? Talking to you D'arcy Wretzky and Melissa Auf der Maur.). What we're digging about this whole situation is that she could have so easily OD'd on micro-floral but kept every other aspect black and unfussy. Plus, it's all un-prettied with combat boots. Well played.

SKYLAR GREY:

Yelawolf and Skylar Grey on the red carpet at the 2011 mtvU Woodie Awards in Austin, Texas.
Photo: PictureGroup

Were we the only ones totally stoked to see what the songwriting hook master (Dirty Money, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Lupe) Skylar Grey looked like? We lovelovelove when the payoff is THIS rewarding. The Grammy-nommed artist is cramazing-looking from her gargantuan hair to her obliques (aka D'Angelo muscles) to her brazen tartan harem pants. Yelawolf is not so shabby either. Ahem.

ALEXIS KRAUSS:

Sleigh Bells on the red carpet at the 2011 mtvU Woodie Awards in Austin, Texas.
Photo: PictureGroup

Brooklyn-based noise pop twosome Sleigh Bells have got easy-peasy cool-kid steez on lock, and of course this pic of Alexis Krauss does little to quash our RAGING GIRL CRUSH. We <3 leather jackets with gonzo leggings.

LIZ LEE:

Liz Lee of "My Life As Liz" on the red carpet at the 2011 mtvU Woodie Awards in Austin, Texas.
Photo: PictureGroup

MTV's own Liz Lee does midriff tee just right with an asymmetrical hem that's mirrored by her perfectly raggedy jorts. A patterned bolero adds to the seemingly blithe (but def in no way coincidental) proportions without swallowing up the My Life As Liz actress.

BLACK CARDS:

Black Cards on the red carpet at the 2011 mtvU Woodie Awards in Austin, Texas.
Photo: PictureGroup

Pete Wentz's side project that's been described as "sparkly synth and bubbly dub" looks just as delectable on the red carpet, but it's the lady-boner inspiring Bebe Rexha who is slaying us with her ensemble. Shoes, bra, skirt all solid black, which expertly counters the more ornate lace detail in the middle and her textured tights. You'll see an added echo in her lace, fingerless gloves, but it's the strips of fishnet matching the front panel of her dress that make us stand up for the *slow clap*.

Whitney Port shows her Whitney Eve Fall 2011 line at the Directives West 'First.LA' show in Los Angeles on March 14.
Photo: Getty Images

Hair bumps were all the rage at the Whitney Eve Fall 2011 runway show, which was held on March 14 in Los Angeles. And as a whole, the sorta-eponymous collection was ALL Whitney Port. Like, if we spotted The City-alum rocking the distressed legging/mini-harem(?) pants and multicolored one-shoulder top from her fall line while sipping an ice coffee in Bev. Hills, we wouldn't be surprised. As a matter of fact, we can see the 26-year-old designer wearing EVERYTHING from her new Africa-inspired collection. Seriously—tube dresses, wrap minis, knotted maxis...that's Whitney all day! But, surprise (or not so much) she's no stranger to being her own No. 1 fan—that cute striped, one-button blazer that she wore during the show was from her Spring 2011 collection. Walking advertisement. The thing we love about the line is that it's vibrant, well-cut and seriously wearable. And given that it's a fairly new brand, the likelihood of someone else wearing the EXACT patterned wrap dress is slim. Plus, the price point is decent (with discount codes regularly updated on their Facebook page), and we just have to respect a small company like this that already has a direct e-commerce element to its site WITH a fair return policy. Thanks, girl. LOVE YOU; MEAN IT.

Lela Rose, Halston Heritage, and BCBG Max Azria Wedding Dresses available at Shopbop.com
Photo: Shopbop

When we first heard that one of our fave online retailers, Shopbop.com, was the latest to get in on the bridal game, we got all googly-eyed. Big dreamy designers like Lela Rose! Halston! BCBG Max Azria! All at a click's reach ranging from the VERRRY affordable $195 to the reasonable-for-a-wedding-dress-but-still-sorta-expensive $5,000 in short, long, fashion-forward, and classic styles. But then we backtracked. Not because we're not exactly, technically, anywhere near an engagement (idle dress dreaming is innate for the ladies regardless of whether you've nabbed a ring. #thatsanotherdaydream), but because who would agree to buy the "most important dress of your life etc. etc." online without EVER trying it on first?! That's a pretty big gamble. So unless this is a Vegas-style impromptu throwdown, we're guessing it's one most people aren't willing to take. Then again, any gown will need major alterations. So is the risk worth saving some bucks and snagging a big name designer within five to seven business days? What say you? We're torn. Chime in in the comments!

+ Would you buy your wedding dress online? Or would you ONLY say "Yes to the Dress" in person?
