Holland Roden Adam Lamber Ashley Benson Jaden Smith Audring Patridge Nylon Young Hollywood Issue Party

Whew, if there's one event we'd want to squeeze into all year long, it'd definitely be last night's Young Hollywood party hosted by NYLON! I mean, literally all of our favorite people arrived decked out in the most effortlessly-cool ensembles, and, oddly enough, they all seemed to stick with one particular trend—the head-to-toe monochrome look. Holland Roden, Adam Lambert, Ashley Benson, Jaden Smith, and Audrina Patridge sported outfits devoid of ANY color (like, not even on the shoes or accessories, y'all), and considering it's almost summer AND they're in California, this feels pretty out of character, dontcha think? Luckily, us New Yorkers love a good ol' gothy ensemble, so we're obsessed with their dark take on typically springy trends.

Leighton Meester, Kristen Stewart, and Audrina Patridge shine on the MTV Movie Awards red carpet.

OMG, guys! It's almost here! The 2012 MTV Movie Awards are THIS SUNDAY, and we couldn't be more excited. Over the course of the past week, we've taken you through some of the biggest fashion trends to flock to the golden popcorn, from mini-dresses to prints and patterns. Our absolute favorite red carpet fad of recent years, though, has to be sparkles, sequins, and shards - the glitzy, embellished frocks that caught, reflected, and refracted light down the step-and-repeat. Still a relatively new trend (our first example is Sarah Jessica Parker's glittery black mini from 2008!), we've seen it explode over the past year with a whopping nine starlettes showing up to the 2011 Movie Awards in shimmery shifts.

Audrina Patridge Makeunder

Holy makeunders! *squints, rubs eyes* Is that really ex-Hillsie Audrina Patridge in that heathered zip-up American Apparel hoodie? Hair crimpy and undone, nude lips, and nary a false eyelash in sight? Yes, Stylettes, underneath the brow highlighter, bronzer, and setting spray lies a living breathing REAL GIRL, and we owe it to the folks at XOJane, namely stylist Cat Marnell for this deliciously refreshing transformation.

Nicki Minaj, Amy Heidemann, and Audrina Patridge wear the best shoes of the week.
Photo: Getty Images

Okay, we're still nursing our 2011 American Music Awards hangover, still going over the pics, reliving the mems (that's short for "memories"), rehashing our fave momes. Tuesday rolls around and it's time to recap the best shoes of the week. Well, two and two makes four, and all of the above amounts to an AMA-themed Shoe Update brought to you by performer and winner Nicki Minaj, newcomer (and also winner!) Amy Heidemann of Karmin, and red carpet host Audrina Patridge. Real talk, though. We should make it perfectly clear that even though these well-heeled ladies and their respective footwear and all having stepped out in their finest to the same event do wrap things up oh so tidily, make no mistake that we did, in fact, scour through the entire week's shoes, Tuesday to Tuesday, and these three were head and shoulders (or shall we say heels and ankles?) above the rest.

Audrina Patridge's dark brown hair on Sept. 13 and her new ombre hair on Sept. 28.
Photo: WireImage/Getty Images

The cool thing about Audrina Patridge is that she's always switching up her hair color. From light blonde highlights to soft black strands, Audrina has gone through the entire hair color spectrum multiple times. But when she turned up to a Bongo event yesterday (she's their spokesmodel!), she debuted a 'do even WE haven't seen on our Hills girl—ombre! We've spotted tons of celebs sporting this dark roots to light tips look as of late, but never on Ms. Patridge. Before she went blonde, Audrina sported shiny golden chestnut brown waves that really brought our her hazel-brown eyes and tanned skin. Now, her hair looks like a true West Coast girl who spends her days on the beach soaking up the California sun. But we did notice something PARTICULARLY interesting about Audrina's new 'do—it looks kind of familiar. In fact, it looks like the hair of someone she used to spend a lot of time with, and even used to be her roommate! Can you guess who it is?

Audrina Patridge Bongo

Sure, Lauren Conrad has an empire and Whitney Port has her own line, but Audrina Patridge—belle of The Hills—has a whole lotta sass. And it's clear in her new ads for Bongo, which features Audi (that's what we call her when she calls us up for fedora-wearing advice, which is, like, always) looking like she's got her confidence at an all time high. Instead of going sans-bra, The Hills-y dons a black hat and sky-high pumps and cocks her hip like a pro for Bongo's fall 2011 line, which lets her get down to her most animalistic with leopard print, zebra stripes, and a pretty fierce tiger shirt. In fact, this new, attitude-laden Audrina, is kind of doing it for us, and after checking out her "behind the scenes" shots, it's hard not to put your hand on your hip or your foot flirtatiously behind you.

As you know full well, MTV Style's 2011 Prom Coverage has been barreling full steam since Monday, to where you couldn't even believe how thoughtful and considerate we were to collect these thoughts, stories, and galleries for you. We unveiled the 12 most memorable movie prom dresses and showcased the 20 best prom dresses for under $100. We presented you with the fashion credits and crying-while-you-laugh DRAMZ of MTV's feature-length film, 'Worst. Prom. Ever.' Today, we got more GEMS in do-it-yourself hair so if you blew your whole budget on shoes, it'll still be smooooooth (or cute-wavy) sailing.

The last thing you want your prom hairdo to remind people (mostly your hot date) of is a poodle or a maid of honor at an unfortunate wedding in the 1950s or Marge Simpson (which is OK if--and only if-- you're Nicki Minaj) or some sort of curlicue breakfast danish. So, here's an idea: Skip the stuffy updos altogether--and save buckets of bucks for things like killer shoes or a strawberry-scented facial instead--with one of these super-simple DIY mane ideas. Problem solved. Plus, you won't be plucking painful pins out of your head for HOURS after the Big Night.

If you were as obsessed with Barbies as a kid as we were, then you know how to braid. Put your skills to good use by creating a loose, side braid in your locks for prom night. Start by curling your hair (at least shoulder length) with a large barrel curling iron. Then make a deep-side part and finger-comb all of your hair to the opposite side of the part. Braid your hair over your shoulder and tie off the end with an elastic that matches your hair hue. Don't freak if pieces fall out around your hairline--it will give the style an instant dose of romance.

There are so many other things to worry about on prom night. Have you learned how to "Dougie" yet?!? Instead of wrestling with frizzy strands all night, make them a part of your look. Grab a jar of aloe gel (it's the most moisturizing kind) and rub a little through your palms. Then, slick strands into a smooth ponytail. But, leave the tail HUGE/PUFFY/GLORIOUSLY FRIZZY. Spray the slicked part with a little anti-humidity spray, then forget about your hair and DANCE.

Soooooo you spent all of your prom-planning time plotting out your dress, shoes, makeup, nails, corsage, restaurant reservations, transportation, etc.; leaving you with 1.4983 seconds to plan your hair? Instead of trying to figure out what to do with ALL of your hair, focus on your bangs only. And, believe it or not, your options are limitless... If you don't have bangs, pull out a pair of scissors or those clip-on joints. If you have long bangs that part in the middle, change it to a side part. And if you have short, brow-skimming bangs, sweep them to one side and spray them with light hold hairspray so that they stay put.

When you don't know what to do with your hair or what kind of jewelry to rock, meld the two together with hair accessories. Slip on a Swarovski crystal headband, a glittery brooch (which is so old/new school by the way), or a metallic ponytail holder for a bit of instant sparkle. But don't go overboard--one bauble will keep your look interesting, but not over-the-top tacky.

Tousled, beachy waves are easier than you think. Plus, there aren't 50 million fussy pins to mess with! Start by separating hair into 2-inch sections. Spray each section with a light hold hairspray, before wrapping it around a curling iron and holding it there for 10 seconds. After you've curled all of your hair, spritz your roots with a salt-water spray to create piece-y texture, fluff to style, and BE OUT.

Lauren Conrad from her Kohl's collection lookbook.

• Lauren Conrad added new pieces -- and SHOES -- to her spring collection for Kohl's. That's it...HEY SPRING, WHEN YA GONNA SPRUNG??? We're so ready!

Sammi Sweetheart and Kim Kardashian looked eerily similar this week, which made us wonder -- is Sammi gearing up for Italian haute couture for Jersey Shore season 4?

• LC and Sammi weren't the only MTV stars making headlines this week! Snooki, surrounded by four HEAVILY MUSCLED men, debuted a old Hollywood glam look WHILE hawking a tee for charity. And we showed you where to find Audrina's dresses from the promo shoot for her new show so you can be just as glam.

• We checked out all the biker-babe studded looks from Brit Brit's new music video, "'Till the World Ends" and gave props to her dance moves. Girl can still work it!

Lady Gaga hypnotized us with her makeup artist's insane brush skills in her latest Gagavision video. Plus, she contemplates being a nudist and more deep inner Gaga thoughts. No word yet on if she'd wear a dress made out of 1,200 pens.

Miley Cyrus, Taylor Momsen, and Selena Gomez looked supercute as they worked the orange carpet at the Kids' Choice Awards. Plus, we went to PIECES when Fergie wore a dress made out of LEGOs!!!

• Cheer up, Keanu! We took a peek at Mr. Reeves' dark wardrobe and realized he just might be a Prince of Darkness in training. On the other hand, Vanessa Hudgens, Kim Kardashian, and Fergie all swiped some dark polish on their tips -- we declare a trend! Who said black nails were just for goths?

• SHINY THINGS!!! Jordana Brewster, Ashley Tisdale and Victoria Justice made our inner magpies come out as we feasted our eyes on their sparkly shoes. And cute style bloggers caught our eye with a little shimmer in their sequined skirts!

• We took a peek into Giorgio Armani's notebook to see the designs and executions of Cate Blanchett's wardrobe in her new film, Hanna. Menacingly beautiful suits and coats... mmmm...

• You KNOW we love magazines. And celebrities. And FASHION. So when the three collide into awesome artsy goodness on glossy covers, we just can't get enough. Hellllllo Nicki Minaj, Gwen Stefani, Katy Perry, Olivia Palermo, Haley Williams and Ashley're coming with us on the subway ride home.

• This week, we melted over Matthew McConaughey's Southern charm, watched Zac Efron's many stages of mustache slowly evaporate, and got all Nancy Drew when we solved the mystery of Ed Westwick's mystery man friend bromance. Plus, we gave Mr. President and the big cheese at Facebook (Mark Zuckerberg, duh) a denim makeover. You're welcome, guys!

• Stylish celebrity kids! Selah Marley, Lily Collins, and Zelda Williams all may have famous 'rents, but they can DEFINITELY turn a head by themselves in the fashion world!

Jessie J? Jesse Jo? Both ladies are equally stylish and pleasant to look at. Educate yourself to keep 'em straight!

Have a very stylish weekend!

Audrina Patridge.
Photo: VH1

If you thought that after The Hills Audrina Patridge would just live out the rest of her days curled up on her couch in her PJ's eating Little Debbie cakes (not that there's anything wrong with that), think again. On April 17, Ms. Patridge will premiere a brand spankin' new reality show on VH1 called Audrina (OF COURSE!). The show follows Audrina through life with her family sharing the spotlight. We CAN'T WAIT to learn more about her verrrrrrry different younger sis Casey (below), who is a mom of two, wife of a pro dirt biker, and a tattoo addict. (Remember when she was spotted on season 4 of The Hills dishing out advice to Audrina about Justin Bobby and Lauren?! Yep, that's her!) But, until then, we scooped some of the show's promo shots, plus...PLUS found out where to score a few of the cute frocks that Audrina is wearing in them. There's the cute strapless DVF mega-tiered dress ($556.50, that she's wearing on the couch (sans oatmeal cream pies), which—P.S.—would make a killer prom dress. And for the days you're feeling saucy, try the See by Chloe Strapless Two-Tone Dress ($395, Audrina is showing off with her come-hither-hands-above-head-hip-popped-out stance. Our personal fave shift is the Alice + Olivia Diana Leather Peplum Dress ($495, she's wearing while posing with her younger, way-more-tatted sis.

Black patent leather and peep toes go together like peanut butter and jelly...chips and dip...ham and cheese...bacon and peanut butter and banana and honey and deep fried with ice cream and... What?! It's past our lunchtime...sorry. Anyways, the point is that this shoe style is a classic that alwaysalwaysalways works no matter what the occasion. The Hills alum Audrina Patridge, who—P.S.—has a new reality show debuting in April, posed in a pair of Christian Louboutin pumps that showed off her fresh maroon pedi. We're still debating the dress (the color? and the belt? ehhhh...), but the strappy Miu Miu patent stilettos that actress Kristin Davis stepped out in were undoubtedly sexy. And while it was hard to look away from British singer Leona Lewis' horsehair frock, we're so glad we did. That's when we spotted her swoon-worthy platform heels. Yum. It's near impossible to go wrong by keeping it simple and flipping it with a little sheen (if you don't own a pair, hop to it), but whose shoe game do you think stood out this week?

+ What's behind the jump? See JWOWW, Alison Brie, Louise Roe in Christian Louboutin, and MANY MORE in our Hot Celebrity Shoes gallery, which is updated weekly. You are SO welcome.

I love these two as a couple. What a festive way to celebrate two important events in their life. Mariah looks like a dream.
