Haim gets ready for Chloe.
Photo: The Coveteur

Haim have always seemed like they’d be a blast to hang out and play dress up with, and now, we have confirmation of that, thanks to a recent shoot with The Coveteur. While our favorite sister-rock trio was getting ready to attend Chloe’s show at Paris Fashion Week, the closet photo blog captured the group’s wardrobe, provided by the French fashion house. Even though we usually see Haim in cut-off shorts, booties, and leather jackets, the band wears polished tailored pieces just as well. And, if you ask us, Chloe and Haim are pretty much the perfect pairing of sensibilities. They both have an enviable laid-back cool.

Rita Ora

Photo: Getty Images

Aside from the one-two punch of her being arguably one of THE most adorable girls on the planet and having a seriously killer set of pipes, we here at MTV Style are head-over-heels for Rita Ora because along with all of that, she, too, shares our deep appreciation for FASHUN and the unique ways it intersects with music. One of these such junctions is Elle magazine's annual Women In Music issue and is a cross section at which Rita sits at the epicenter. Miss Ora fronts the May 2013 issue alongside fellow lady artists Adele and Alicia Keys, but of the three cover girls, Rita is the only one to have also performed at the mag's celebratory Women In Music event in New York City, April 10th. Martha Wainwright and Kelly Rowland also took the stage that night, but Rita stood out amongst this set, too, having been the only act to switch up her look explicitly for her performance. In a great fashion Easter egg moment, we were lucky enough to carve out a little chat time with Rita and Jason Rembert, her long-time stylist and the man behind her Elle Women In Music red carpet and stage looks.

Katy Perry Miley Cyrus Rihanna

When the warm weather hits, all those summery striped pieces in your wardrobe FINALLY get their chance to shine, but this season we're seeing a slightly different take on the nautical trend. Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, and Rihanna all have been sporting a sexier version of the ol' standby by alternating their stripes with a panel of mesh. Oh la la! This takes the conservative (and totally preppy) trend to new heights, and we kiiiinda love it. Just last week, Katy Perry stepped out in a super goth striped ensemble at the 2012 Music Biz Awards. Even though she's technically totally covered up, the subtle flash of skin every so often is enough to transform this dress from modest to straight-up provocative. Also, hi purple hair. We still love you.

When spring sets in, we're always looking for fun, new ways to spice up our wardrobe for the new season. This year we're absolutely in love with the dainty detail of scalloped-edge shorts. The simple, round ridges along the hem add an extra touch of texture to any ensemble, and the treatment can be done on all types of fabrics. We particularly love when scalloped shorts are the statement piece of the ensemble in a bright, bold color, but if you opt for a softer hue, it can be a delicate, hidden treat! Check out three ladies who wore scalloped shorts in the most cop-worthy of ways, and we'll bet you'll want to try out this trend before you finish reading the post.

Florence Welch Vogue UK

Sometimes you spot magazine covers that stop you dead in your tracks and make you think, "Oh, wowwwowowow. She looks beautiful!" That's basically what happened when we peeped Florence Welch on the January cover of Vogue UK—well, that mixed with two straight minutes of creepy ogling and a few tinges of jealously. I mean, how can you NOT be slightly in love with Florence? She's got a powerhouse of a voice and killer style to boot. On the cover she exudes her typical ethereal beauty in a flowy light blue pleated Chloe gown, fiery red waves, and a serious smokey eye. But there's something to be said about a lady who IMMEDIATELY caught the eye of one of fashion's biggest names—she's a surefire style icon. Karl Lagerfeld has deemed her his "favorite singer of the moment," and told Vogue UK, "I think she’s a genius. She looks like a great English lady, but in fact is a very funny young girl." Florence recalls her first time meeting Karl in Paris when she was extremely hungover and says, "He was holding my hand and he was like, 'Ah, you'ff got zuch fantastic zkin, zere's not a pore on your face!'" Dang, girl IS funny. Like we need any more reasons to love her!

Actress Imogen Poots for the new Chloé fragrance campaign.
Photo: Courtesy of Chloé

It's officially fashion month, which means debutante faces for major designer fragrances will grace the ad pages of every September issue. One of our upcoming favorites? Imogen Poots and French model Camille Rowe Pourcheresse for Chloé. First of all, don't forget the name Imogen Poots, OK? It's easy to remember because it's a fantastically phonetic name, but, really, this lovely lass is about to be EVERYWHERE, including the reboot of this month's Fright Night. We think she looks so fresh-faced in these Chloé perfume ads with minimal makeup, neutral nails, and naturally wavy hair. Ditto for Pourcheresse, who channels a young Jane Birkin. So much blonde!

While there are definitely negatives to trotting around in heels all the time (blisters, tumbles, late-night foot cramps, the paranoid suspicion that blood is pooling in your toe box from standing in a pair for too long...), it's safe to say that just about every girl loves the look and feel of putting on a pair of heels. They perk up the posture and make your feet look tiny and unobtrusive (AS FEET SHOULD BE. JK. We are feminists who love big feet!). And the leg elongation is the best. That's why we let the love-hate relaysh (that's short for "relationship") go on. PLUS, there are so many kinds of heels (even ones that are, dare I say, comfortable) that we could never swear them off entirely. In this week's Shoe Update, the sweet model-turned-actress Brooklyn Decker, divalicious songstress Jennifer Hudson, and always bubbly Blake Lively demonstrate the full range of heel sizes and shapes.

Lindsay Lohan at a courthouse hearing in Los Angeles on March 10, Jennifer Hudson performs at the 2011 Nickelodeon Upfront Presentation in New York on March 10.

Well, here are two celebrities we never expected to dress alike, let alone to include their names in the same sentence. Yet by some mysterious force, Lindsay Lohan and Jennifer Hudson both wore nude-hued short leather dresses on Thursday. Who knew that LiLo and J. Hud had such similar taste? For a courthouse appearance in Los Angeles, Lindsay donned a Raquel Allegra dress, which she teamed with Chanel booties and Dior shades. Meanwhile, Jennifer, who performed at a Nickelodeon event in New York City, went sans sleeves in her caramel-colored A-line Chloe shift. Choosing between these is a toughie, but we're going to have to go with Jennifer, who's been looking off-the-charts-amazing, and her amethyst platforms are KILLER. Plus, we gotta give the songstress props for looking good without a court order. Sorry, Linds.

Olivia Palermo at a photo shoot in New York on March 8.
Photo: Getty Images

Oh swooooooooonsies. Doesn't Olivia Palermo look gorgeous here? Maybe it's the hair or the lush lashes or the flack jacket or just the all around breezy ease but there's something oh so Jackie O. about this windswept look. Plus, and we are slightly stunned about how viscerally we're hit by this, we maybe desperately want some bell-bottoms? Perhaps it's jeggings fatigue (likely it is because they're comfortable but way-too-everywhere), but give us some throwback trousers. Remember waistbands and structured crotches (#retro)? Blessedly, the runways are super promising for some trickle-down, price-point goodness later this year.

Models walk the runway in the Chloe Autumn/Winter 2011/2012 Paris Fashion Week show on March 7, in the Marc by Marc Jacobs Fall 2011 New York Fashion Week show on Feb. 15 and in the Burberry Prorsum London Fashion Week show on Feb. 21.

When we think of "Ladies Who Lunch," we usually think of stiff skirt suits and wide brim hats (is it just us?). A far cry, indeed, from the fashion fete that we spotted during the 2011 Academy Awards Nominations Luncheon, which was held yesterday in Beverly Hills. Celebs, including Michelle Williams and Amy Adams, came decked out in pretty pocketed frocks, look-at-me pumps, and the cutest clutches we've seen in a while. Here are all of the midday looks that caught our eyes...

MICHELLE WILLIAMS: Michelle Williams stepped out in Chanel—a black silk blouse and a beige tweed skirt—plus, black Sergio Rossi shoes.

NATALIE PORTMAN: Mama-to-be Natalie Portman showed off her growing tum in a Lanvin satin teal kimono dress, which she paired with Charles David red satin pumps.

HAILEE STEINFELD: Hailee Steinfeld rocked a little black dress with black heels from Aldo, which we are beginning to think is the tween actress' fave place to stock up on shoes.

JENNIFER LAWRENCE: Jennifer Lawrence buddied her black-mini purse and Roger Vivier satin sandals with a white Chloe chiffon dress.

AMY ADAMS: Amy Adams slipped into a white ruffled Valentino dress, which she teamed with gold platform pumps and a white cuff bracelet. Perfection.

I love these two as a couple. What a festive way to celebrate two important events in their life. Mariah looks like a dream.
