Let's face it. This time of year it's impossible not to get caught up in all of the glorious hype surrounding prom. Whether you're a freshman going with a hot upperclassman or dancing the night away with a big group of girlfriends at your last dance, prom is nostalgic and wonderful and overrated all at the same time. And if you're like me, where your senior prom was in an events center that held a livestock show a few hours before (yes, it still smelled like cattle and hayfeed), the lights kept brightly on the whole time and the "DJ" "spun" from an iPod set up, prom certainly was a night to remember. (Shout out to my Nebraska youth!) But no matter, because luckily, network television always delivers an excellent prom night with dramatic king and queen announcements, outrageous themes and a pretty sparkling bow on the high school coming-of-age sitcom. We've sorted through the gowns and corsages of our favorite TV proms EVER, including the glory days of The WB line-up (oh yeah, we went there). Get ready to relive it all.

Rachel and Finn win Prom Queen and King at the dinosaur-themed prom in 'Glee.'

We don't have to go too far back in time (literally) to remember the prom of Glee's McKinley high school, but we do have to go back several million years to embrace Brittany's "Dinosaurs" theme. Although fossilization and spiked punch don't seem to go hand in hand, the Cheerio cheerleader-turned-class president selects the theme and institutes a "no hair gel" ban, targeting dear Blaine who has never made a public appearance without slathering his normally frizzy fro with product. In protest, Kurt, Blaine and Rachel decide to throw an anti-prom, but gathering in a damp and dirty motel with nothing to do and no good Bravo TV to watch the crew quickly turns around and heads to the Mesozoic era with the rest of the kids. Of course what's a dinosaur themed prom without some modern day pop song performances? The girls perform the Selena Gomez anthem "Love You Like A Love Song" while the boys croon 1D's "What Makes You Beautiful." We conclude with a "Take My Breath Away" ballad as Finnchel (Finn + Rachel) take the title of prom king and queen and ride off into a Brontosaurus-filled sunset.

Lea Michele L'Oreal

It's just been confirmed that Glee star Lea Michele is the new face of L'Oreal Paris, joining the likes of Beyonce and Gwen Stefani, who have also been spokeswomen for the brand. In a statement to People magazine, Lea said that she is "overjoyed" to be working with the company, which is the largest beauty company in the world. Pretty major, if you ask us. She went on to say that she is not only a fan of L'Oreal because of their products, but also because of their message, "I’m so thankful to be a part of a television show that promotes inner beauty and self-worth," Lea said, referring to her starring role on the groundbreaking Glee, "now to be a part of this amazing family [L'Oreal] that expresses the same amazing message is such an honor.”

Here at MTV Style, we know that the sudden appearance of cats in the fashion world is NOT breaking news. Dog-lovers out there might still contest that cats are just fluffy home fixtures, lacking in personality what they make up for in laziness. But guys, cats are EVERYWHERE, so we’ve dedicated the first weekly installment of Trending Topics to our favorite iterations of the kitty-craze. Here we go!

We Want These Drawings To Be Real Clothes!
Hannah Metz, please hear us loud and clear: we love everything about this drawing. The femininity of these sketch sisters is just modest enough to let the loudness of the amazinggg CAT SWEATERS steal our focus. We’re digging the way this photographer/stylist reimagines the “cat lady” with a touch of retro glam. Plus, there’s even more where this came from on Hannah’s Tumblr. The only question is, how do we get our hands on the real thing? What’s a girl gotta do? {via Hannah Metz's Tumblr}

Think of the Peter Pan collars, the costume jewelry, THE CHARLOTTE OLYMPIA KITTY CAT FLATS!

Heather Morris visits "The Late Show with David Letterman" in New York.
Photo: Splash News

Heather Morris was a full-on accessory CHAMPION while visiting The Late Show with David Letterman this week. Although she wore a subdued black blouse and brown skirt for the actual show, we were delighted by the accessory-laden post-show ensemble she debuted on the streets of NYC. Yes, all it takes is a delightful Japanese animal hat and we're SMITTEN. You see, we have a thang for kicky animal chapeaus (they topped our Best Accessories of 2011 list) as well as the lovely ladies who wear them (hi, Kreayshawn). But this particular plushie noggin warmer is special because it's KORILAKKUMA. For the uninitiated, KORILAKKUMA is a little white bear who likes strawberries, apples, her radio-controlled duck, and listening to really loud music. Could Glee's Heather Morris be trying to tell us something with the choice of this hat—namely that she has a penchant for forest berries and deafening volumes—or is she just really into cute Japanese Cosplay characters?

Dianna Agron and Darren Criss in retro swimwear.
Photo: Dianna Agron's Twitter

There's nothing that screams "HOLIDAY!" more than a pair of red and white swimsuits. Wait, what? Seriously, stay with me here. The holidays are all about festive attire in every imaginable incarnation—from ridiculous Christmas sweaters to wooly mufflers and capes—but in some parts of the world swimwear is a totally legit option for this colder holiday month. I'm talking places like Southern Cali or onstage with The Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall. Another place where these two examples seem to crisscross in candy cane-striped harmony? The set of Glee. Dianna Agron recently posted the cutest pic evah to her Twitter feed with the caption, "Today at the pool. You would think we were filming a classic movie with @DarrenCriss." Funny, that's exactly what I was thinking, only the classic movie I was seeing in my head had sparkly floating icicles, synchronized swimming snowmen, and Darren and Dianna singing "Baby, It's Cold Outside" to each other while dancing around an ice floe with gigantic candy canes. Seriously, though, what's going on in this adorable retro-inspired photo?

It's been quite a year for the young cast of the hit TV show Glee. From their headline-making storylines involving teen bullying to their collective fashion debut on the pages of Vogue magazine (not to mention cast shakeups, new additions to New Directions, and rumors involving what will happen when some characters graduate), it's been one heck of a season thus far. We here at MTV Style always get excited when we spot a "Glee-ite" on the red carpet too, especially when it's for a good cause. Cast members Darren Criss, Dianna Agron, and Kevin McHale recently attended the Trevor Live event benefitting theThe Trevor Project, an organization that provides crisis intervention for LGBTQ youth. Aside from stepping out in their Sunday best for an important cause, the trio took some major fashion risks too.

Heather Morris

It's because of Heather Morris (well, her character, Brittany S. Pierce on Glee) that "unicorns" have reentered the vernacular. If you're a Gleek, you'll be familiar with the terminology (or if you're into hair, you'll *fist pump* in adulation of the recent hair horn trend). UNICORNS are all about being magical and knowing it, kind of like Heather on the November cover of Seventeen magazine. Her sunny smile, flawless skin, and color party outfit are infectious, and how UH-MAZE does she look striking that dancer pose, too? (Egads, we need to hit the GYM.) Sporting newly dyed hair tips, a gagillion neon bracelets, and a touch of pink makeup, we'd say Heather's confident glow is all about harnessing her inner-UNI. Either that, or she's just jazzed about getting to wear those Jeremy Scott for Adidas panda sneaks we're still dreaming about every night.

Deena, Jane Lynch, Snooki, and Sammi after taping a segment for the Emmy Awards show.
Photo: PictureGroup

The Emmy Awards are this Sunday night and they'll be hosted by Jane Lynch (aka Glee's favorite cheer coach Sue Sylvester), who's gearing up for all kinds of CRAY-NESS to make the broadcast fun, fun, FUN. What better way to get everyone excited for all of the zany hijinks and self-mocking laughter that's about to enSUE than to join forces with the cast of Jersey Shore? Lynch did just that when she posed for a photo recently dressed as a GLEE GUIDETTE (Glee + guidette = Gleedette! You heard it here FIRST!) with Deena, Snooki, and Sammi. Interestingly, unlike Anderson Cooper, Lynch appears to have NOT hit Snooki up for a spray tan tutorial. (Seriously, what's with the anemic glow, Lynchi? You best trade those white tights and get yer SPRAY ON! *Fist pump*) Still, we think she looks JUICED UP and hungry for meatballs (with a side of slushie!), like any GLEEDETTE would.

Tune in to the Emmy Awards on Sept. 18 at 8 p.m. ET/5 PT on FOX and check back with us for live fashion coverage of all the red carpet looks!

Lea Michele and Jenna Ushkowitz for "Glee."

The new season of Glee premieres on Tuesday, Sept. 20, and yet it still seems light-years away. Alas, while we wait Gleek-fully in anticipation, here are some new official photos to tide us over! In terms of the returning cast members, nothing looks too out of the ordinary in these new Fox promo shots other than there's some colorful fashion going on up in ol' William McKinley High; in fact, we'd say the members of New Directions (as well as the Dalton Academy Warblers, thanks to new full-time cast member Darren Criss) are feeling the stripe and polka dot trends pretty hard-core. With the cast set to co-host Fashion's Night Out during New York Fashion Week with—c'mon—VOGUE, we're assuming we might be seeing even more fashion on the hit show.

I love these two as a couple. What a festive way to celebrate two important events in their life. Mariah looks like a dream.
