Rappers dropping fashion references in their lyrics is certainly no new thing, but as a species that thrives on the intersection of music and fashion, each new style name-drop-laden track is just as exciting as the last. The latest addition to this extra-special breed of song? Wiz Khalifa's "Old Chanel" which features Smoke DZA. The hook, as expected, reps the iconic Karl Lagerfeld helmed label (though we're not sure why Wiz didn't opt for "vintage" as opposed to "old"), but there are even more fashion shout-outs on this heavily vibing, head-bopping track. Peep our five favorite references which we illustrated below (and are perfect for Tumbling)!

Rita Ora may still be relatively new to our ears stateside (the girl hasn't even released her debut album yet!), but she's already secured herself a comfy place in Jay-Z's Roc Nation crew...not to mention, major MVP status on our iPods. We haven't stopped playing "How We Do (Party)" ever since the singer first debuted the single way back in February. And once we discovered that the 21-year-old has style that's just as crazy-cool as her music, she's become one to watch in the fashion world, too. So is it really any surprise, then, that NEXT Models- the same agency that reps Lana del Rey, Ellie Goulding, AND Alice Glass- has now snagged Rita for their roster? Between Lana for H&M, Solange for Madewell, and Azealia for Alexander Wang, it's been a summer FILLED with music-fashion mashups...and it's only a matter of time before Rita hops onboard.
Listen, we don't want to harsh your fun summer vibes, but the cold truth is that school starts in less than a month. *does Home Alone-style scream* But hey, it's not ALL bad! Now is the time of year when you can finally jazz up that wardrobe with fun fall pieces and pair those fresh duds with an even fresher summer glow. Hot! We figured the best way to get into the swing of things is with a super cool varsity jacket to throw on over any ensemble. They're totally on-trend but also act as the perfect transitional piece from summer into winter. Let's dive right in, shall we? WE SHALL.

Forgot the old go-to varsity jackets, these bad boys will instantly make you the coolest girl in school with their fierce statement-making patterns. Personally, we love the silk galaxy print number from Tideland ($75) and the F/W 2012 Jeremy Scott x adidas leopard zip-up that will hit stores later this summer. WERK!
Kat Graham wears bold Joyrich prints at a charity event with Bing and DoSomething.org.

Our love of Kat Graham is not one we express too subtly here at MTV Style. Her sartorial acrobatics and unabashed wielding of all the hottest beauty trends are things we applaud on the DAILY around here, and this day is no exception. Kat was scheduled to appear and perform for a charity event with Bing and DoSomething.org this week, and for said event, Miss Graham skipped her trademark sleek ponytail for a short, sassy, curlicue 'do. She also wore not one, but TWO boldly printed ensembles that together make for a kind of work-to-weekend scenario.
Rihanna on June 3 and June 2.

If you didn't already know, Rihanna wears high heels ALL. THE. TIME. Like, no matter where she is or where she's going, she'll typically throw on stilettos with her jeans and T-shirt ensembles. (See: Here and here and here.) As of late, though, RiRi has been sporting sneakers non-stop, and we're really digging her comfy-chic look. Just this past weekend she wore a Jeremy Scott x adidas oversized printed T-shirt dress with THE Jeremy Scott leopard teddy sneakers and finished her look with a hot pink Joyrich snapback hat covered in shiny gold dollar signs. She kept her beauty game simple by wearing minimal makeup and letting her waves run free, but, um, she KILLED it with those neon yellow nails. HOT.
Rihanna's fashion-filled birthday weekend in London.

Looks like Rihanna had a SUPER eventful weekend. Not just because it was President's Day, which means long weekend, which means automatic no-questions-asked license for hard-core IDGAFing. It was RiRi's BIRTHDAY yesterday! Celebrating your life debut is no time to sit besweatpantsed on the couch with a bowl of cereal. It's a time to throw on some slick togs and enjoy the world. Robyn kept herself busy this weekend, churning out a new remix to "Birthday Cake" and rehearsing for tonight's performance at the 2012 BRIT Awards, and all the while not skipping a street-style beat.
For her actual birthday, Ri wore a leather-sleeved letterman jacket with plaid paneling over a graphic tee, a '90s grunge-esque waist-shirt, denim cutoffs attached to black over-the-knee socks with bright red fasteners, and a pair of patent creepers. Her beauty game was simple with a bold scarlet lip and laid-back head scarf. To ring in her birthday, though, Rihanna attended Stella McCartney's London Fashion Week presentation. Her nighttime outfit was very simplified Eqyptian regal, with a silk evergreen wrap dress, high slit up to THERE, and touches of gold.
Back in November we told y'all everything you needed to know about Japanese-by-way-of-L.A.-based clothing brand Joyrich that's infiltrated the wardrobe closests of celebs like Lil Wayne, Keri Hilson, Jessie J, and Nicki Minaj. Here, in an MTV Style EXCLUSIVE, is a preview of the SS2012 lookbook and VIDEO LOOKBOOK. Click here to see it in all its bright, mixed print, fully accessorized glory.
Leah & David / Joyrich Clothing, L.A.

Joyrich is one of those brands that if you haven't heard of it, you're definitely about to and if nothing else, you've CERTAINLY seen it. With major presence in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Japan and, of course, here in the U.S., the label's vibrant graphics and ultra-saturated palette are gloriously frenzied when worn head-to-toe and perfect for accent pieces as well. Plus, seriously, check out their blog if you haven't already. Such good feedin'.
ANYWAY, while we were in L.A. we (editor's note: well, only Rory went and returned with a KILLER TAN and leopard print EVERYTHING) caught up with the folks responsible for the aesthetic, Leah Schmidt and David Melgar (known as Leah & David [no surnames needed]) who took us behind-the-scenes at their Spring/Summer 2012 lookbook shoot. We got to spend some QT with the dynamic duo who design, blog, run the daily operations whilst being CUHRAZY entertaining and looking fantastic. Obvi. So stay tuned and learn a thing or seven.
Lil Wayne at the MTV 'Unplugged' concert and Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival.
Last night marked the premiere of Lil Wayne's long-awaited MTV "Unplugged" special. In a music environment that gets more and more flack for mounting production levels, phase vocoders, and other audio black magic, an artist as celebrated as Weezy doing an "Unplugged" set is a BIG effing deal. Of course, being the diligent stylettes that we are, MTV Style found added joy in the fact that rolling with Wayne is always taking a little style adventure—and not just due to the shirtless reveal of rippling delts and forearms. (Though that was definitely a highlight. *discretely wipes drool from corners of mouth*)
No joke, Lil' Tunechi was on his A-game. The graphic font sweatshirt, pristinely soled sneaks, deliciously retro/punk acid-wash jeans (which we're, like, 80% sure are by Cheap Monday), and smart red 59Fifty got us thinking back to his other great past style moments. Remember when he wore those Jeremy Scott x adidas teddy bear sneakers? Could he possibly predict that the sartorially inclined would palpitate so? Or that vintage Nieman Marcus promo sweatshirt? *heavy sigh* How could we forget?! He has the whole hip-hop-meets-skater look on such a serious lock we almost think Odd Future should be paying him royalties. His Bonnaroo stage outfit with this canary yellow Gonzz California Girls tank and Joyrich x Keith Haring backpack (the contents of which we're DYING to uncover) and grey-and-black zebra pants is the stuff hipsters build shrines to in the deepest thickests of their hearts (Please note: hipsters never actually worship altars because true hipsters don't submit themselves to long periods of physical exertion).
