Kate Middleton

The Duchess gets bangs.
Photo: Getty Images

Black Friday was all about price cuts. This week, however, the fashion world is cutting more than costs!

Fresh Cut
Kate Middleton got BANGS, y'all!...Or at least that's what everyone's calling them. They're more like side-swept angled layers. But that's just not as news-worthy.
{via InStyle}

Diamond Cut
Bulgari on Fifth Avenue furnished its holiday windows with a brilliant, weaving, sparkling SERPENT. This wasn't your average spooky snake, however--thousands of LED bulbs made it look like the iconic diamond necklace slithering across the storefront. So. damn. frosty.
{via Bulgari}

Documentary Cut
HBO released a trailer for its upcoming documentary about the editorial genius at Vogue. What exactly does a fashion editor do? You're about to find out.
{via Fashionista}

Horses Cut
Treasure & Bond in SoHo installed a fake motel scene in the middle of its store. The display is a pop-up for Horses Cut Shop, a graphic t -shirt brand andddd incidental treasure trove of Americana.
{via Racked National}

Short Cut
Attention ASOS customers aka every fashion-y girl ever: you can now access Covetique, a site that sells previously-owned and politely-discounted designer clothes through ASOS! We're talking Alexander McQueen, Gucci, Chanel. Dead.

This isn't to say that the well-dressed men and women of the world are a dime a dozen, but when TWO sartorially savvy individuals come together in one supernova of couple FASHUN, it's hard not to sit up and take notice. Fine, celebs have other humans who concoct outfits for them and lend them all the runways' latest swag, and that makes the likelihood that we drool over their vestments that much greater. But duo looks that are both coordinated and NOT disgustingly matchy-poo? Well, that's a fashion unicorn, no matter your tax bracket. It's rare when two stars step out in a pair of looks that strike such a harmonious aesthetic chord as the following couple outfits that we've deemed the Best of 2011, so in their honor, we're glorifying the ish out of 'em. Enjoy!

SELENA GOMEZ AND JUSTIN BIEBER

We've been all over these Lovebirds Of The Year (a title awarded just now by me, the sole judge), Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber, for their adorable couple style from Day 1. But when Selieber hit the red carpet for this year's American Music Awards and turned it waaaaay out in these Gatsby-esque Old Hollywood ensembles, we just about lost it. From the pewter silk to the '20s evocative fringe, the tailored velvet to that SIDE PART, our eyes lit up like so many color-changing Lisa Frank hearts. The retro styling on pop music's latest teen king and queen created a red carpet step-and-repeat juxtaposition so refreshing that we can't imagine forgetting it next year either.

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge at the 2011 BAFTA Brits To Watch Event in Los Angeles, California, on July 9, 2011.
Photo: Getty Images

The BAFTAs, which stands for the British Academy of Film and Television Awards, may have been held in February but their "Brits to Watch Award" event, hosted by none other than Prince William and Kate Middleton during their whirlwind California tour, remind us that the folks from across the pond can hold it down on the red carpet against Hollywood's most sparkly ladies.

Dressed like a goddess in her cinch-waisted Alexander McQueen (who does soft and gentle as well as he does brusque and angular, and is almost the de facto designer for the duchess), Kate embodied royalty the same way that Princess Grace once did. Word on the street is that her neutral shoes are Jimmy Choos, which is an applause-worthy choice. Hollywood starlets could do black or even shimmery with this dress, but Kate’s pale turn is appropriately regal.

Blake Lively at the 2011 BAFTA Brits To Watch Event in Los Angeles, California, on July 9, 2011.
Photo: Getty Images

At first glance, Blake Lively, provided lively (erm) competition in the queenly realm (see what we did there?) but upon really studying her Marchesa gown, it’s clear she went for a totally different vibe. Sure, there is a femininity and composure to her swooped dress, but the one shoulder is subtly sensual. The draped trail and gauzy layer provide a drama that may not be fit for a queen...but definitely looks gorgeous on the red carpet.

Jennifer Lopez at the 2011 BAFTA Brits To Watch Event in Los Angeles, California, on July 9, 2011. Photo: Getty Images

Though maybe not appropriate for a visit to Buckingham Palace, Jennifer Lopez’s belly-baring dress reminds us that ladies do indeed run the world. The dress comes from the same collection as the green Pucci Beyoncé rocked with combat boots in her "Run The World (Girls)" music video. This full-length gown opts for cutouts that reveal glimpses of Jennifer Lopez’s legendary (and still bangin’) bod and one ornately sequined sleeve. J. Lo is still sexy without being over the top.

Ke$ha at the 2011 Billboard Music Awards on May 22.
Photo: Getty Images

Ke$ha dished out her top fashion favorites to SPIN.com. Her favorite store? West Coast thrift shop Out of the Closet. Favorite piece of clothing? A vintage Guns N’ Roses tee. Favorite items on tour? Blue lipstick. Oh, and of course glitter! {Spin}

Topshop offered Courtney Love a chance to design a collection for the London fashion chain, but Courtney refused saying she didn’t want her line "in the basement in Topshop on Oxford Circus." She’d rather have her collection appear in Browns or Selfridges. OK, relax C. Love. {Elle}

Kate Middleton's selling power is skyrocketing compared with Michelle Obama's. While both ladies are known for mixing high and low items, Kate increased Reiss' site traffic 500 percent after she was spotted in their bandage dress, and after Michelle wore head-to-toe J. Crew on The Tonight Show, the site traffic increased only 64 percent. Hmmm... math. {Fashionista}

• CFDA Lifetime Achievement award honoree Marc Jacobs reveals that his 1993 grunge collection was the most liberating of his life because it was "about a dismissal of everything that one was told was beautiful, correct, glamorous, sexy." (Ed note: And everyone who is old enough to remember all his GLORIOUS work immediately after his Perry Ellis tenure concurs heartily with maybe a tear in each eye.) {Telegraph}

Lady Gaga's Polaroid collection FINALLY debuts. The portable printer creates snapshots from any cellular phone, so you can document your daily outfits in a snap. {Oh No They Didn't!}

Kristin Cavallari at a Kiehl's benefit on April 7.
Photo: Getty Images

• Our beloved Hillzie Kristin Cavallari sat down with Perez Hilton to talk about her fast-selling shoe she designed for ShoeDazzle.com. All proceeds go to charity, but HURRY! She said she's already sold-out of sizes 6, 7, and 8. {Coco Perez}

• An unaired sketch of Justin Timberlake dressed as Mozart on "SNL" surfaced on the interwebs in which he mocks himself for, erm, not getting any awards for The Social Network and even the Biebs himself. Yowza. {Jezebel}

Lady Gaga graciously greeted her fans in New York in a barely there one-piece jumpsuit, super high ponytail, and super-crazy-awesome dramatic black eyeliner makeup. The best part? Her studded cutoff denim vest that reads "Born This Way." Can I haz one plz? {Washington Post}

Balmain is launching a more affordable clothing collection called Pierre Balmain, named after the house's founder. The men's and women's line will be out in September and is geared toward a younger range of buyers. Cue me silently weeping at my desk in joy. {Fashionologie}

Kate Middleton looked downright CHIC when she met with the Obamas in Buckingham Palace. But who would have known that the new Duchess of Cambridge wore a structured nude bandage Reiss dress that was only $340?! Reiss said the dress was still available to purchase, but currently their site is down for maintenance. {Telegraph}

So, the Royal Wedding occurred this morning and now it is over. BUT THEN. THIS. We present: Katy Perry's Prince William nails. Total callback to the time she put her husbandmanfriend Russell Brand on her paws for the VMAs. We particularly enjoy the fashion featured here. It runs the gamut from Wills with hair (aka Young Wills), tinybaby Wills with mother Diana *sniff*, popped-collar sportif Wills in a rugby, oh-right-England's-might-used-to-lie-in-the-navy-so-your-man-is-dressed-like-an-Admiral-or-something-IDK Wills, Casual Friday Wills in a V-neck and spread collar, Harry *omnomnomnom* on the pinky + Wills, and of, course, the dutiful nails that feature Kate Middleton seeing as Katy's a classy lady and did not want to advertise that she had any untoward designs in her... designs.

Also, the one where Wills is wearing part of the Union Jack on his vest/suit/thing like so much Spice Girls DVD cover is NUTS since he really does look so so so so so so much like his mom. Man, this photo-sticky nail things are incredible. You could get ANYTHING. What would you get? I would obviously get alternating whoopie pies/breakfast foods/and herbivore dinosaurs, but then again, I am boring and wholly predictable. OH, maybe you should get smaller nails that are painted with smaller nails that are then painted with even smaller nails with ever smaller nails. That would be SUCH a waste of time.

• Lucky for famed party photographer Patrick McMullan—Blake Lively's bright red 'do totally overshadowed the fact that the cameraman accidentally tore the Gossip Girl's gown at the Time 100 Gala this week. {The Cut}

Blake Lively at the TIME 100 gala in New York on April 26.

Gossip Girl Blake Lively stepped out for the Time 100 Most Influential People Gala yesterday with a headful of fiery red waves (just like Rumer Willis, Mandy Moore, and Drew Barrymore!). Why ditch her natural blonde locks? The actress is in a film called Hick where her character is a redhead. {Us}

• The IT dress in celeb circles is the Dolce & Gabbana white lace mini, which has been spotted on Kate Bosworth, Anne Hathaway, Blake Lively, Diane Kruger, and LeAnn Rimes. {People StyleWatch}

Olivier Rousteing, who is currently in charge of women's wear at Balmain, has been tapped as the label's new lead designer (replacing Christophe Decarnin). Way to climb that ladder, Olivier! {T Magazine}

• A proposed New York City bill would punish buyers with a year in jail or a $1,000 fine for buying knock-off bags. {Styleite}

• Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab has created a line of 16 perfume oils for Dungeons & Dragons fans—each scent is meant to evoke each aspect of the mythical characters that players create in the game. {Allure}

• According to a recent report, many editors snip out the size labels of clothes for celebrity shoots, particularly if the size is larger than what the star says they are. SNEAKY! { The Cut}

Balmain's $1,515 embellished flag-print silk tank is garnering a ton of attention. Some critiques say that the top, which is fraught with burn holes and is attached at the seams with safety pins, is antipatriotic. {Huffington Post}

Kristin Cavallari at Kiehl's in Santa Monica, California, on April 7.

• The Best Packaging category for the 2011 FiFi Awards was swept by celebrities, including Halle Berry, Eva Longoria, Avril Lavigne, Mariah Carey and Fergie. Soooooooo, who do you think is going to snag the honor? {InStyle}

MAC's new Surf, Baby! collection (inspired by the beach, of course) features four new lipstick/glass shades, two new crushed metallic pigment sets, and teal and frosty yellow-white eyeliner pencils. Do we really have to wait until May 26 to score this stuff? {Fashionista}

• Rightfully so, Kate Middleton's wedding gown has been getting all of the attention. But do you ever wonder what she's going to wear during her honeymoon? Turns out Kate may be keeping her honeymoon threads on the moderately priced side—the princess-to-be was spotted buying a $105 dress at Warehouse in London. {Us}

Abigail Breslin at the Hot Pink Party in New York on April 14.
Photo: Getty Images

• It's official. Abigail Breslin (aka Little Miss Sunshine) is a bonafide "young lady." She recently debuted a lighter hair hue that gives the 15-year-old a more mature look. But, she didn't ditch her rich brunette strands for fun--her colorist claims she went blonde for an upcoming movie role. {Us}

• Reports are now coming out that little-known designer Sophie Cranston of Libelula is definitely the designer tapped to create Kate Middleton's gown(s). But considering all of the dress drama and speculation to date, we can't be for sure-for sure until the princess-to-be walks down the aisle on April 29. {Huffington Post}

• How does someone look this poised, relaxed, and GORGEOUS at the 26-mile London marathon? Oh yeah, it's supermodel Agyness Deyn. Explains it. {Vogue UK}

Urban Outfitters contributes its recent decreases in store sales to bad weather and lackluster clothes. What do you think? {The Cut}

• Ask and you shall recieve. That's what one down-on-her-luck Twitterer learned after asking for shoe donations from LeAnn Rimes who tweeted earlier in the day that she'd just done some major spring cleaning and organizing of her shoe collection. Rimes shipped a handful of shoes for the struggling fan. So. Sweet. {People StyleWatch}

• WHOA! In a Teen Vogue interview, Nicole Richie admitted to owning north of 200 pairs of sunglasses. Well, then. We thought our 20 pairs was a lot. {Us}

Miley Cyrus shows off her latest tattoo in a Twitpic. The windcatcher body art under her arm is still growing on us. But, at least it's not a rhino or an icecream cone on her face. {Oh No They Didn't!}

• Florida state legislature is currently mulling over a bill that would make it illegal for teens to wear saggy pants in school. {Styelite}
