Conchita Wurst, who came to international attention after winning the Eurovision Song Contest 2014, made news at Paris Fashion Week by walking in the Jean Paul Gaultier Couture show. Wurst closed out the show, a position usually given to the designer's favorite or the most famous model. Previous closers have included Dita Von Teese and Beth Ditto. Jean Paul has long been an advocate for so-called "unconventional" models. Early on in his career, he put out a listing in French paper Libération that read: “Nonconformist designer seeks unusual models–the conventionally pretty need not apply.”

Conchita is also the latest in a line of pioneers who are challenging mainstream conceptions of gender. This might be a reflection of fashion's fickle nature or it could mean that our perception of beauty has broadened; the fashion world is notoriously exclusive, and does not often veer from its rigid strictures of what is stylish, which is why we should not only applaud the casting decision, but also celebrate those who have come before. Below are a few other drag superstars who have made names for themselves.

The '90s ushered in the rise of the supermodel, and in 1992, it got its soundtrack, thanks to RuPaul's "Supermodel (You Better Work)." Soon after, in 1994, MAC Cosmetics tapped Ru to be the first face of Viva Glam, the line's campaign to raise awareness and outreach for those in the HIV/AIDS community, making Ru the world's first drag queen supermodel.

Well, Selenators, Selena kicked off her tour last night in Vancouver; after giving MTV News a sneak peek at the choreography, music, and wardrobe, we finally have a complete picture of what Sels will be doing, and wearing, on stage for her world tour. The singer's stage looks were created by Marco Marco; considering Selly wore the same Marco Marco dress for her performance at the 2013 MTV Movie Awards and in her "Come and Get It" music video, it's safe to say she's a big fan of the designer's duds.

Selena Gomez has been teasing us FOREVER (OK, like, a month) about the release her "Come & Get It" music video, but now we can officially start counting down the days until the premiere right here on MTV! Her video will air on Tuesday, May 7 at 7:53 p.m. followed by a live 30-minute "MTV First: Selena Gomez" chat on, and, psst, Selenators, you can ask questions during the interview, too. But guys, today Selena gave us a tiny teaser on what to expect next week, and, OMG, we can barely handle all the Bollywood-inspired amazingness! In the 30-second preview, she shows off tons of flowy gowns paired with oh-so-sultry makeup looks and even—gasp—an underwater scene. OooOOOh. One red dress in particular, though, should look REALLY familiar to y'all because Selena has already worn it before—at the MTV Movie Awards!

I think we can ALL agree that Selena Gomez hit a fashion home run at the MTV Movie Awards this Sunday, ruling the red carpet and stage in not just one, but two gorgeous traffic-stopping ensembles. In addition to that shimmery gold Julien MacDonald minidress she rocked during the pre-show, Sel heated things up big time for her sizzling performance of her new single "Come and Get It" in a Bollywood-inspired Marco and Marco number. But what's the real story behind this pair of eye-popping looks?! InStyle got the scoop from Selena's stylist herself, Basia Richard. According to Richard, that glitzy red carpet ensemble was originally intended for the performance (!), but "Selena fell so in love with this dress that it was instantly her first choice for the carpet." In the end, though, Sel went with a fiery red Marco and Marco piece that Richard customized with Swarovski crystals and gold details, which, heads up, we'll see again in an upcoming video!

Each day, through New Year's Eve, we'll bring you a list featuring some of the most unforgettable looks of 2010.

The red carpet gives musicians a chance to go glam, but the stage is where performers get to show off their true artistic style. And this year saw a number of fun trends in performance wear, including fluorescent colors from M.I.A., couture-like gowns from Florence Welch, and tons of leopard print and glitter from Ke$ha (who else?!). Here, we take a look back at the 2010 performance outfits that got us talking.

FLORENCE AND THE MACHINE: Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine performed at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards in a gorgeous, Grecian-inspired peach gown. The feminine frock had lovely pleating details throughout, and Florence looked almost Goddess-like in the romantic dress.

LADY GAGA: Oh, Lady Gaga. She never disappoints us when it comes to fashion, does she?! The singer looked like a star (a shooting star, specifically) at the Lollapalooza music festival in Chicago in her sculpture minidress.

KE$HA: Known for her "garbage chic" flair, Ke$ha rocked patterned tights, a retro tee, and leopard print gloves on stage at a New York City concert in August. Even though we'd never sport the outfit ourselves, we definitely give Ke$ha props for her boldness!

KATY PERRY: Katy Perry looked pretty as a peacock during a performance at Splash Bar in New York last August. The pop star hit the stage in an embellished white outfit, paired with "peacock feathers" attached to the back. Katy had several jaw-dropping performance outfits this year, but this was definitely the widest wildest!

USHER: One of our favorite hustlers, Usher, took the stage at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards in a head-to-toe black outfit. The futuristic look included a leather vest, padded pants, and flashy sunglasses.

RIHANNA: Rihanna flaunted her fab figure in a shoulder-padded sparkly, pink leotard during a New York performance at Madison Square Garden last August. She rocked the pantless ensemble with embellished black boots and fishnet tights.

M.I.A.: M.I.A. looked like a florescent rainbow at the Spike TV Awards in Los Angeles. The singer picked bright blue hair, a shiny yellow shirt (to match her canary-colored nails), and hot pink bottoms. Plus, check out her fuchsia lipstick! Color us crazy, M.I.A.

NICKI MINAJ: Nicki Minaj went for a superhero theme for her 2010 MTV Video Music Awards performance outfit. The singer chose a pink and purple outfit crafted by designer Marco Marco and repurposed Chanel boots that were reworked with pink leather trim at the thigh.

30 SECONDS TO MARS: Jared Leto, the lead singer of 30 Seconds to Mars, never bores us with his innovative looks. During a performance at the Lowlands Festival in the Netherlands, Jared opted for a white leather jacket, studded red gloves, and a "graphic" tee. He finished off the outrageous outfit with tribal face paint.

PINK: No one could have predicted what Pink would reveal when she started taking off her white hooded dress during her 2010 Grammy Awards performance. The singer stripped down to show off a nude bodysuit with patches of glitter and strategically placed white strips in what was one of the most talked-about performance outfits of the entire year.

Fashion is supposed to be fun. But sometimes, celebrities and musicians can take it to another level — an OUTRAGEOUS level, which is one of the best parts of the show! Check out the top 10 most outrageous outfits from last night's 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. See the list below!

1. Lady Gaga in Franc Fernandez
Lady Gaga closed the show in a MEAT dress that reminded us of artist Mark Ryden's "The Meat Show." To say the outfit was attention-grabbing would be an understatement. We couldn't stop starting at it! The pop singer sure knows how to steal the show with her sartorial choices.

2. Cher's "If I Could Turn Back Time" Outfit
We thought we were experiencing déjà vu when we saw Cher come on stage in the sheer, black number! It was a total throwback to the video for her classic hit, and we applaud Cher for still being brave enough to flaunt her fab figure!
