Beyonce on the cover of 'Out.'
Photo: Out Magazine

Ring the alarm. Beyonce is not only topless on her first magazine cover of 2014, Out, she’s also platinum with a bob à la Marilyn Monroe. We’ve seen a lot of different Beyonces over the years—case in point: We saw 17 of them just over the course of her visual album—but this is an entirely new look for Queen B.

Inside the magazine, we get a look at Beyonce’s revealing cover outfit: just two body chains and two tiny necklaces. But then again, those necklaces likely cost more than our clothes budget for the year, so you do you, Bey. Since she was in the midst of her Mrs. Carter Show World Tour during the shoot, she was probably pressed for time and needed quick outfits to wear. (I mean, she didn’t even have enough time to sit down with the writer for a face-to-face interview—they emailed.) To be fair, though, Bey does make a great case for an all-white suit when she pops up in a beaded eyelet tuxedo in another shot.

MAC Marilyn Monroe

When you hear the world "glamour," there's a fairly good chance what pops into mind immediately are images of old Hollywood starlets, and the most prominent one is probably Marilyn Monroe. An icon in every sense of the word, Marilyn embodies the high gloss femininity that so defines that golden age of Hollywood, and that so many of us modern ladies, while we might not want to go all out pinup glam, definitely want a little hint of in our day to day lives. That, friends, is where MAC comes in. We heard that MAC was going to be releasing a Marilyn Monroe line all the way back in February--early intel suggested it wouldn't be out until October, but lo and behold, it's going to be ready for purchase online on September 27th, mere weeks away! It still won't be in stores until October 4th, though, so if you want to give the shades an in-store test run you'll have to wait a little. The 30 piece collection includes lipstick, nail polish, and everything in between, all in classic shades that will have your skirt blowing up over a subway grate in no time (ok, maybe not). Check out the full collection after the jump.

This year has been a big one for the lovely Marilyn Monroe. From silver screen adaptations of her life to her unmistakable visage adorning the walls of pop stars' homes, the ultimate icon of Old Hollywood glamour has risen to a new height of ubiquity over the past 365 days. Always a classic and constantly lauded for her voluptuous womanliness and on-point beauty game, Marilyn is a fashion mainstay, but this year has been particularly good to her. Today, we celebrate her date of birth along with one of Monroe's biggest fans, Lady Gaga.

Ingrid Michaelson in

Ingrid Michaelson as Lady Gaga and David Bowie in "Blood Brothers."

Nope, that's NOT Lady Gaga or Ziggy Stardust. It's Ingrid Michaelson ,the girl responsible for the uber-catchy Old Navy sweater commercial way back in the day that we still can't get out of our heads. The New York singer and songwriter has come a long way since then, rolling out floaty indie pop singles like "Maybe," doing the a-capella thing with versions of megahits like "We Found Love," and making song cameos on shows like Grey's Anatomy and One Tree Hill. Now she's branching out into something a little different- but if you ask us, "different" is an understatement. The musician has undergone a total transformation in the video for her new single "Blood Brothers," getting made up into as seven of the world's most iconic celebrities, starting with Marilyn Monroe and finishing as David Bowie.

Thanks to a little movie magic (and not to mention some seriously talented makeup artists), Michaelson gets whipped into character in the clip below. First she's Marilyn Monroe with a poufy bleach-blond wig and signature beauty mark, before bro-ing out as John Lennon in his circular shades. Then it's a hair-bowed Lagy Gaga, a convincingly scary KISS frontman Gene Simmons, and a beehived Amy Winehouse (with her trademark sailor tattoo). The last incarnation of the singer shows her as David Bowie's Ziggy Stardust persona, a transformation so perfect we almost didn't believe it was her. Then again, since "Blood Brothers" is all about our shifting identities- isn't that kind of the point? Watch the spot-on video here, and tell us which version of Ingrid is your favorite.

Marilyn Monroe MAC Collection

Photo: Getty Images

We just got wind of the best beauty news we've heard in decades—MAC Cosmetics will draw inspiration from the legendary Marilyn Monroe for its next collection! The blonde bombshell was only one of the most desirable women of the 20th century and has been the subject of countless biographies, movies, and photo shoots. Though long overdue, the limited-edition collection will pay homage to the fair-haired muse with eye shadows, lipsticks, eyeliners, and nail polishes. Priced from $15 to $27, the 30-piece line will launch at MAC locations nationwide in October. The timing couldn't be more perfect because it gives us several months to shop for a billowing white dress, practice Marilyn's deep, breathy voice, and perfect our sexiest pouts. If the makeup can make us look anything like Michelle Williams (who was a DEAD RINGER for Marilyn Monroe on the cover of GQ), we'll be first in line!

Artist Claire Milner's Swarovski Marilyn Monroe portrait commissioned by Rihanna.
Photo: Splash News

If you haven't been clued into the style world of Rihanna lately, let's just say you have a LOT of catching up to do. First of all, our multifaceted gal just landed a fashion reality show that will air in the U.K. this summer (no word on whether we'll get it stateside), and she also acquired a new "Thug Life" tattoo. It seems like she's truly enjoying her adopted hometown of Los Angeles too, as she's taken to attending Lakers games and Cirque du Soliel shows wearing American flag T-shirts and head-to-toe leather. It's also been reported that she's currently zhuzing up her L.A. pad and recently commissioned a $160,000 Marilyn Monroe portrait made entirely of Swarovski crystals. Created by U.K. artist Claire Milner especially for Ri-Ri, the art piece took four months to finish, measures 5 by 5 feet, is covered in 65,000 crystals, and weighs 182 pounds. Let's discuss, shall we?

Emma Watson

Emma Watson attends the U.K. premiere of "My Week with Marilyn" in London, England.

Miss Emma Watson has turned into quite the ingenue. After graduating (with HONORS) from the Harry Potter movies and enrolling in college here in the U.S., the former Hermione Granger has made a new name for herself as a bona fide fashion STAH. Not only has she landed multiple coveted magazine covers like Vogue and British Elle, she's fronted a fragrance campaign for Lancôme's Trésor Midnight Rose perfume and has been working on many a new movie. Her major role in the upcoming The Perks of Being a Wallflower is getting a lot of buzz, but we'll see her in a supporting role first in the upcoming My Week With Marilyn, in which she plays a wardrobe assistant (love it already). No stranger to the fashionable glare of the red carpet bulbs, Miss Watson turned it out in true class-act style for the premiere of Marilyn and toted the COOLEST Perspex leopard clutch.

A portrait of Marilyn Monroe, Lady Gaga in Sydney, Australia, on July 10, 2011, and Thing One from Dr. Seuss' 'The Cat in the Hat.'
Photo: Getty Images/Courtesy of Seussville

Some days when you look at Lady Gaga's outfits, you figure she and stylist Nicola Formichetti consult runes, set fire to chicken bones, or else pluck their eyeballs out and pour absinthe into the recesses in order to get the glimmer of inspiration for another gonzo ensemble. Other days you take one look at Monster Madre, concede that she "nailed it," and know in your heart that she's paying homage to an iconic yester-lady like Marilyn Monroe, except with a twist, given that she is nothing if not twisty.

The curveball here is, OH DOY, the addition of aesthetic cues from Dr. Seuss' Thing 1! Or Thing 2...? Regardless, she looks marvelous in a robin's egg blue curlicued coif, saturated red (ZOMG IS THAT CHINCHILLA? *dies*) fur, and diesel, artfully penciled brows. Check out the rest of the all-red 'fit after the jump.

Marilyn Monroe filming 'The Seven Year Itch' in New York on Sept. 15, 1954.
Photo: Getty Images

Let's think of the great dresses of all time: You've got the LBD from Breakfast At Tiffany's. There is the Diane von Furstenberg wrap dress. Or the Bob Mackie number Cher wore at the Grammys. We'll even give Gaga's meat dress a place in the historic annals of dresses-we-shall-not-forget. Up there, if not topping the list, is the white dress with the massively plunging neckline that Marilyn Monroe donned during the *air quotes* scene in "Seven Year Itch." You know the *air quotes* scene...the air grate moment where Mar is standing above a subway air vent on Lexington with her dress blowing through the wind, which is supposed to stand in for the "itch" that the married Tom Ewell gets in his monogamous marriage (especially when he has a neighbor that looks like the Blonde Bombshell). It is the ultimate symbol of temptation, flirtation, and all of the reasons that gentlemen do indeed prefer girls with that particular shade of hair.

Which is why--no surprise--over the weekend, the dress sold for a whopping $5.2 million price tag from actress Debbie Reynolds' personal collection. Hey, even in a recession, a dress like this is worth the seven-year itch it may inspire.
