Moms are great. They teach you how to do stuff. They tuck you in at night. They fix you soup when you're sick. And they bestow unto you the miracle of life (well, some of the time—adoptive moms, what up!). Moms are a lot of warm and fuzzy things, but "indisputably stylish" isn't a trait that's thrown around a lot. (See: mom jeans.) BUT if your mom is one of the following 9 celebrities, that's another story.

Aside from being super-famous before she was even born (*achem*), Blue Ivy Carter also gets to have one of the most fashionable women in the world as a mother. Mom Beyonce's wardrobe is just as Sasha Fierce as ever, just now with some added hints of maternal goddess.

Nicole Richie and Ben Lyons help their friend Erin Foster pick out a first date look.
Photo: AOL On

OH, the age-old "girl-cute" vs "boy-cute" debate. Especially among the more fashionably inclined, there's often a disconnect between what ladies and their friends think is super cute and what the boys that date them are into for their ladies. Whether you're a staunch follower of The Man Repeller herself, Leandra Medine, or more of a girly girl, you've surely been party to an "are overalls fun or fugly" convo or two. This makes getting ready for dates (be they first or otherwise) REALLY hard! Nicole Richie understands, and addresses this difficult, serious topic in her new episode of #CandidlyNicole. You want to look cool, but you don't want to look, you know, like an art piece or anything #balance. Also, harem pants. Don't do it. Nicole actually suggests waiting until a man is "legally bound" to you before you break out those bad boys, but we have to say, we think it's important that you show your partner your true colors before then because: honesty. ANYWAY, Nicole's friend, film critic and Extra host Ben Lyons is brought in as dude consult to help ladyfriend and fellow comedienne (who you may remember as Marissa Cooper's enemy Heather from The O.C.) Erin Foster pick out a look for a first date. Obviously, hilarity ensues.

Topshop At The 2013 Met Gala

It’s been almost 24 hours since the Met GalaPunk: From Chaos To Couture” red carpet began, and we’re still spinning from all the studs and safety pins. We saw a ton of Givenchy, some vintage Valentino, some significant Stella McCartney and then, bursting from between the throngs of these famed designers, we saw five different looks from Topshop. Yep. That’s right—the Topshop that you yourself can afford to shop at. The most surprising part? We couldn't tell the difference between the high end and the high street.

It was the question heard 'round the world (and the interwebs) ever since we first got word of 2013's Met Gala theme: HOW do you dress for "Punk: Chaos to Couture"?! Well, the rebellious rough-and-tumble inspiration for tonight's main event may have thrown some attendees for a loop, but that's OK, because we found more than enough style stars to stay true to theme and shake things up on the red carpet. Of COURSE mainstays like Debbie Harry, Donatella Versace, and Vivienne Westwood did it right—that much should have been given. But the ladies we're calling out below are the ones who surprised us by their unexpected loyalty to the theme, those who weren't afraid to go beyond the safety pins and a few statement studs. So let's all give a round of applause for the most creative, most committed punk-themed Met Gala outfits of the night, shall we?

If there's anyone we can count on to get down with a theme, it's this girl! Cara Delevingne may be a supermodel, but you'd better bet she went all-out punk tonight in a custom studded Burberry dress. Rocking that seriously plunging V-neck like there's no tomorrow and showing off her Genevieve Jones earpiece with a deep side part, we ALL wish we could make punk somehow look that...well, pretty? Sigh.

Katy Perry Nail Art Met Gala

By now you've probably peeped ALL the insane Met Gala red carpet looks, but have you seen the nail art?! Everyone from Katy Perry to Rita Ora to Nicole Richie sported super ornate manis that we NEED to discuss. KP matched her embellished Dolce & Gabbana ensemble with equally decked-out nails. She layered blue and pink glitter over gold polish and finished the look with gold pyramid studs and ruby gems. WERK.

Nicole Richie dons protective glasses as she awaits the laser.

Nicole Richie
is HILARIOUS. She got her start on reality TV alongside bestie Paris Hilton on The Simple Life, and has proven her on-screen style savvy as a mentor on NBC's Fashion Star alongside Jessica Simpson and John Varvatos. Not that we had ANY questions about Nicole's style smarts—she is the design mastermind behind House Of Harlow 1960, Winter Kate, AND an eponymous Macy's line, not to mention a street style staple. Combining her gifts for humor and sartorial flair, Nicole is back on the small screen with her new AOL webseries #CandidlyNicole, based on her irreverent Twitter feed, and we have to say, it has us in stitches. In the first episode, Nicole pays a visit to Dr. Tattoff (not his real name, but don't tell Nicole that), to inquire about having an unfortunate piece of body artwork removed. Listen, we're not going to judge anyone's youthful indiscretions, but we agree that maybe a cross tramp stamp isn't the look a stylin' mother of two is going for. Nicole chats with the good doctor, as well as with some of her fellow prisoners of bad decisions, who are in the market to remove tats as classic(ally bad) as twin cherries or as confusing as a neck tattoo that says "TIMETRAVELER" but "everyone thinks it says 'Timberlake.'" Ummmmmm, good luck with that. Nicole actually has NINE tattoos, but she isn't looking to get all of them removed "just the embarrassing ones."

With so many winter awards shows running, it's hard to stand out from the crowd. While we'll always have a soft spot for that little music event in February, the Golden Globe Awards are absolutely one of our favorite shows because the worlds of film and television merge for one magical night of sartorial one-upping. From silver screen starlets like Anne Hathaway to small screen sweethearts like Sarah Hyland and even soundtrack songstresses like Taylor Swift, the PYTs turned it out for the Globes step-and-repeat, and while it was a lofty task, we've whittled it all down into our list of the top 10 best dressed ladies of the night.

The lovely, doe-eyed Anne Hathaway shone bright in winter white Chanel couture. The dress, surprisingly resurfaced from the label's Spring 2009 archives, featured a sleek strapless neckline cutting straight across the chest and the look of being two pieces. The Les Miserables star won big tonight not only for her award as "Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture," but also with her strikingly simple column dress.

Nicole Richie Macys

Nicole Richie is slowly taking over the fashion industry, y'all! WWD reports that the Fashion Star judge is expanding her already burgeoning style empire (which currently includes her accessories brand House of Harlow 1960 and clothing line Winter Kate) by designing a capsule collection for Macy's. YUS. The line, called Nicole Richie for Impulse, will cater to Millenials (a.k.a. a term mostly Baby Boomers use for anyone between their teens and late '20s) and hit 100 Macy's stores and e-retail starting in mid-September. Nicole is well-known for bohemian chic meets cool '60s mod girl street style, characterized by tons of bold prints and bright jewel tones. The 24-30 piece collection will be heavily influenced by Nicole's personal style, but when it ACTUALLY came down to it, she said her biggest design inspiration was—GASP—music!

Long Printed Dresses Drew Barrymore Nicole Richie Florence Welch

Go big or go home! Florence Welch, Nicole Richie, and Drew Barrymore proved that more is more when they showed off their bold, all-over print maxi dresses. We're REALLY into this head-turning trend, which all three ladies sported in slightly different ways. Florence showed up to an after party in Las Vegas last night wearing this AMAZE black and forest green Tadashi Shoji fall 2012 number. Her scalloped edges add a touch of daintiness to her daring look, and she wore no accessories (save a few rings) to take away from her statement dress. She twisted back her shiny red tresses into a low chignon, and we love how her hair complements her green dress perfectly. She matched some burgundy eye shadow to her deep maroon nails for a totally put together look. Nicole Richie showed support for her dad Lionel Richie by wearing a dress from her own Winter Kate fall 2012 line earlier this month. We know bright yellow is incredibly hard to pull off, which is why we give Nicole MAY-JUH props for looking like a vintage vixen in her bold rose print dress. We also love the side swept bangs paired with a bouffant and larger-than-life lashes.

Nicole Richie Street Style

Nicole Richie out and about this week.
Photo: Getty Images

In case you missed it, last night was the premiere of Fashion Star, a reality competition show where designers fight to get their pieces bought by some of the biggest brands in the game (think: Saks Fifth Avenue, H&M, Macy's). To give the designers some sartorial guidance, celebrities with mega fashion lines came out to give their two cents, including Jessica Simpson, John Varvatos, and Nicole Richie. Personally, we've always backed Nicole's expanding fashion empire—everything from her fun accessories at House of Harlow 1960 to her boho chic Winter Kate clothing line—so it's no surprise that we were seriously digging her street style as she was out and about promoting her new show this week. Get those pens out because it's time for us to take some notes!
