Katy Perry Blue Floral Dress

We've been obsessed with Katy Perry's springy ensembles as of late. Whether she's hangin' at the White House Correspondents' Dinner or attending a Smurfs 2 premiere, girl continues to ba-ring her sartorial gorgeousness with every summery frock she wears. But we have a bone to pick with you Ms. P—what's up with all the blue?! Last week, she wore three blue dresses in one day; Tuesday she sported an all-blue ensemble while shoe shopping with Tommy Hilfiger; and yesterday she wore two floral blue frocks in a single evening.

Ke$ha Brocade Suit

Last month we were tipped off to Ke$ha's love for brocade (see: her wearing two different baroque-inspired pieces in just one evening), but as it turns out, we severely underestimated the singer's obsession. She was spotted in Japan yesterday wearing—GASP—the exact same suit from before! The garment in question? A black velvet and gold foil 7 For All Mankind suit that is so '70s rocker chic we can barely handle it. In her most recent look, she paired the velvet ensemble with a black lace, bell-sleeve button-up, layered pendant necklaces, a floppy hat, and Ray-Ban aviators. She left her long platinum hair down in gorgeous ringlets and finished the look with black tassel loafers. #WERK

Katy Perry Miley Cyrus Rihanna

When the warm weather hits, all those summery striped pieces in your wardrobe FINALLY get their chance to shine, but this season we're seeing a slightly different take on the nautical trend. Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, and Rihanna all have been sporting a sexier version of the ol' standby by alternating their stripes with a panel of mesh. Oh la la! This takes the conservative (and totally preppy) trend to new heights, and we kiiiinda love it. Just last week, Katy Perry stepped out in a super goth striped ensemble at the 2012 Music Biz Awards. Even though she's technically totally covered up, the subtle flash of skin every so often is enough to transform this dress from modest to straight-up provocative. Also, hi purple hair. We still love you.

Gabe Saporta

Sometimes life just isn't fair you guys. :'( Those were the thoughts swirling in my broken brain/resulting in worrisome <3 beats when I was invited to spend a rainy afternoon at the dream-on-toast Gabe Saporta's East Village bachelor pad on his day off. When the crazily charismatic Cobra Starship frontman kindly offered me a glass of water, I obliged because, TBH, this gay needed a cool-down. *Gulp* The over 6-foot-tall piping hot glass of Smart water himself lives quite the jet-setting rockstar life, (DUH), as seen in the just-released video for Cobra Starship's latest electro banger, "1Nite", in which viewers get their groupie voyeuristic thrills on as the band brings their fist-pumping friendly act around the globe and makes the coolest home-video EVS, involving an underground Japanese rave replete with pelvic-thrusting dancers, no less.

Taylor Swift nautical dress

Photo: Splash News/Gorman

Ever since we spotted Taylor Swift on MTV Buzzworthy in her too-cute-for-life nautical striped dress, we've been DYING trying to figure out where she got it from. (Do you know how tired your fingers can get from all that endless scrolling on Modcloth's website? SO TIRED.) When we became weak and sunken into the utmost despair, we turned to our last fail-safe option—Twitter. We asked our go-to dress ID gal, Ms. Courtney Justice, and, like pure MAGIC, she came back with a solid answer. Taylor Swift is wearing an Ipanema navy and white striped dress available at RIGHT NOW for $169. *cries in happiness* She paired her summery frock with a red and brown Lauren Merkin crossbody bag, classic Ray-Ban Wayfarer sunglasses, and vintage-y red Frye slingback heels. She matched her lips to her shoes (which we love!) and pulled back her hair into a no-nonsense ponytail. We could see a million ways and one ways to wear this fun wardrobe staple all year long, plus the modest hem gives you extra room to be breezy and comfortable on hot summer days. But tell us—are you going to buy Taylor's dress?

Only three short weeks until the 2011 MTV Movie Awards, and MTV Style has all the fash-obsessed coverage of this year's nominees that you could ever ask for! Earlier this month, we brought you the most-memorable style moments of the Best Female and Male performance nominees. Today, we have a Polyvore set inspired by the onscreen style of the triple-nominated movie, Easy A!

An 'Easy A'-Inspired Polyvore Set
Photo: Screen Gems/Polyvore

So when I was in high school, teachers gave out summer reading assignments that were due the moment the bell rang on the very first day of the new school year. AND I had to walk uphill both ways in the snow to get to and from school. JK, I didn't walk, I drove or took the bus. And there wasn't any snow. But there WERE a few hills, and there were DEFINITELY summer reading assignments. Before my junior year, my class was assigned Nathaniel Hawthorne's The Scarlet Letter. Considered to be the greatest work of Hawthorne's writing career, this 19th century romantic novel is set in colonial Boston and tells the story of Hester Prynne, a young woman who is ostracized by her community for her illicit actions. SAUCY, right?! Easy A is decidedly NOT the film version of The Scarlet Letter, so I wouldn't watch it if you're looking to get out of reading the book (and shame on you for even contemplating such blasphemy! School is cool, guys!! *pushes up glasses*). But it's preeeetty close in a contemporary super-loose adaptation kinda way à la 10 Things I Hate About You.

Emma Stone is totally funny and smart and cute as Olive Penderghast, a teenager who starts a series of white lies about her weekend escapades in an attempt to up her social cred around her high school. The rumors fly, and Olive is labeled the school-skank. Instead of withering in persecution, Olive embraces her new identity, starts dressing more provocatively, and uses her new reputation to help some of her fellow dude classmates whose popularity could use a boost. The above Polyvore set is an homage to Olive's more scandalous wardrobe centered around a black All Saints corset and a pair of black J Brand '912' skinny jeans and an Alexander Wang multistrap shoulder bag for Olive to tote her books around—she is at school after all. (Side note: OK, so there are probably 0.000001 percent of girls toting Alexander Wang satchels to school, but like, realistic schmealistic, this satchel is FABULOUS, so there). The outfit is finished off with Jeffrey Campbell platform wedge heels, black Wayfarer cat-eye shades (a bad-girl staple), pearl earrings, a slick of bright red lipstick, and a scarlet letter. Easy A is nominated for a whopping THREE Movie Awards this year: Best Female Performance, Best Comedic Performance, and Best Line From A Movie. The Movie Awards are only a few weeks away, so don't forget to vote for your favorite performances here!
