Style has moved! come with us to mtv news »

We'll be the first to admit that trying to make plans for New Year's Eve stresses us out: the 12-month anticipation, the unavoidable crowds, the ever-important, gotta-be-stunning outfit of the YEAR. OK, so maybe we're being a ~little~ dramatic, but with less than a week to prep your look after a month of holiday hustle and bustle, sometimes you just gotta reach into your closet and hope for the best. Of course, you also want to LOOK your best, so why not start with one of your tried-and-true basics? Instead of going full-on Toddlers & Tiaras, take what you know and give it a new life by adding a few easy-to-find pieces from your local mall. (And TBH, this is how WE plan to roll, so don't knock it till you try it.)

The Little Black Dress: Chances are, you don't just have one, you have like, 100. It's the one wardrobe staple that every woman has been conditioned to own since the 1920s, when Coco Chanel made it "a sort of uniform for all women of taste." Give your little black dress a big night out on New Year's Eve with a Stevie Nicks-approved fringed kimono, velvet strappy pumps, a heavy metal statement necklace and a cross-body clutch for hands-free dancing.

Of all the foods typically associated with Christmas, gingerbread cookies—typically made from ginger, molasses, cinnamon, and cloves—are by FAR the best. Have you ever seen a fruitcake smile? I didn't think so. Gingerbread men are (1) adorable, (2) always dressed for the occasion (typically in a three-button onesie), and (3) permanently happy. How do you deny a dessert like that? These little guys are the perfect guests to invite into your stomach this holiday season. So, in honor of these tasty Christmas cookies, we've rounded up our favorite gingerbread man sweaters for this holiday installment of Food Friday.

It's raining men! HALLELUJAH! It's raining (gingerbread) men! AMEN! This sweater has it all: a flurry of cookie dudes, smiling faces, precious bow ties, AND buttons that look like berries from a holly bush. Festive.

NYFW

Solange, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, and Zosia Mamet at New York Fashion Week Events.

The celeb crowd attending New York Fashion Week shows and events keeps growing, and we're keeping tabs on all of them. Solange attended the 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target event in a navy and black tuxedo jacket—as a shirt!—and tan, abstract animal-print skirt from the collection. She dressed the Target collabo up a bit with tan and clear Givenchy sandals and a studded Fendi clutch. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, both very blonde, seemed more than ready to welcome fall: both were dressed in head-to-toe black. Mary-Kate accessorized with a small, furry bag and cut-out shoes, while Ashley added a monochrome bag and heels with ankle ties. Zosia Mamet hit up the Honor show in a fuchsia-y Honor, duh, dress. She paired the dress with NEON red-and-white Tabitha Simmons for Honor flats #practical. Peep the rest of the celebs hitting up NYFW shows after the jump!

Rebecca Minkoff and Taylor Swift.
Photo: Getty/Diet Coke

It all started with a t-shirt. Can you believe that something so ordinary is responsible for launching a career as extraordinary as Rebecca Minkoff's?! Well, back in 2001, the designer released her take on the iconic "I Love New York" tee. The top caused a fashion explosion, and 12 years later she has clothing, shoes, and accessories stamped with her name, and is one of the most well-known designers out there today. Now she's teaming up with Diet Coke and Taylor Swift to give another young designer the chance she once had, with the Diet Coke Young Designer Challenge. The competition asks young designers to put their innovative, creative spin on the iconic Diet Coke logo and packaging, for the opportunity to dream up a tee that will then be sold in Target stores all over the country. Not only that, but the winner will also get $10,000 and a chance to meet Taylor Swift herself. Pretty major prize, huh? Last week we chatted with Rebecca herself about the contest, what she'll be looking for, and her own inspiration. Don't think she's giving away any secrets, though—you're going to have to think up a boundary-pushing design all on your own. We know you can do it, though!

Valentine's Day is great and all, but you know what we REALLY love? Cute clothes. Bonus points if they're actually affordable, and even better if they're from one of our favorite designers, Prabal Gurung. All three of these incredible things collided last night at the celebration of the New York CFDA winner's newest collab with Target, a huge dream date-inspired affair featuring food trucks, indoor rides, and a performance by Ne-Yo (which, PS, if you haven't witnessed editors and It girls getting down to R&B love songs, then you don't know what you're missing!). Clearly the fashion industry's love for the singer is mutual— Ne-Yo told us on the red carpet that he'd just returned from Paris Fashion Week. "I went to the Givenchy and Versace shows in Paris and loved both of them," he said. "And I gotta admit, when I met Donatella Versace for the first time, I got a little crush on her!" Actresses Elizabeth Olsen, Carey Mulligan, Analeigh Tipton, and campaign star Olivia Thirlby also turned out on the red carpet decked out in Prabal for Target, Elizabeth pairing her dress with an oversized blazer, Carey with a leather coat, and Analeigh with her mom's vintage army jacket. The America's Next Top Model contestant-turned- Warm Bodies star told us she borrows her mom's stuff all the time now that she realizes how cool it is. Aww!

Back in October, we fell head over heels with the first look from Prabal Gurung's collection for Target. The collection, which the designer described as being inspired by "a girl’s journey through the different stages of love and the clothes she wears during each milestone—from the first date to meeting the parents to the engagement," is whimsical and bright, with strong lines and playful accents, and it was a challenge to pick just five favorite pieces. Versatile and wearable, these are pieces that could take you from brightening up your office to as Gurung intended, a first date, with ease. While some of the pieces are a bit too bright to be accurately and honestly called 'practical,' the line's affordable price point, starting at just $12.99, makes it totally ok to have a little bit of fun! So, without further ado, our 5 favorite pieces:

FLORAL CRUSH

Ok, we're kind of about to cheat with this one, cramming all three pieces in. I mean, how could we not. An all floral crush shorts suit? yes please. The blazer is $49.99 and could totally dress up jeans at work or be paired with a skirt (maybe even in a different pattern? Hello springtime!). Under it, the long sleeve tee is $19.99, and while this might not be one of our favorite pieces on its own, it's a great way to add a pop of floral to an outfit. Finally, THOSE SHORTS. At $26.99, the shorts in floral crush print are very close to the top of our list (although we're not putting this in order on purpose). We could wear them all spring and summer long.

Karlie Kloss in the Neiman Marcus And Target Collaboration Commercial.
Photo: Neiman Marcus' Youtube Channel

We love a good collab, that's for sure. Not only because they allow us to snag some of that pret-a-porter style at a more reasonable price point, but also because designer collaborations allow us to see our fave clothiers stretch their muscles in a new way. The Neiman Marcus and Target CFDA holiday collection is basically the ultimate collabo, with some of our fave selections being cookie cutters from Band Of Outsiders, an Alice + Olivia bike, and a Derek Lam skateboard, and that's just scratching the surface. It also features our favorite (or rather, one of our TWO favorites) model Karlie Kloss in the super cute campaign, bounding around both print and film and generally looking like a holiday elf-goddess. We showed you the behind the scenes from the shoot, but now we have the full commercial for your viewing pleasure. Karlie is the classic sweet girl, what with her midwestern charm and cookie-making side hustle, so it makes sense that she would front a campaign so filled with good cheer. And yeah, it also helps that she's one of the biggest supermodels in the world. Watch the full commercial after the jump and tell us what you think!

Almost as early as we've been curating our holiday wish lists, we've been waiting in anticipation for signs of the Neiman Marcus and Target Holiday collaboration, announced wayyyyyyy back in the heat of July. Just to refresh your memory, the collection is designed by 24 CFDA designers. We're talking all the heavy hitters (Marc Jacobs, Proenza Schouler, Jason Wu), who have worked on 50 products, from ornaments to yoga mats to skateboards. The products will finally be available December 1, and to make our wait a little less agonizing we get a sneak peek with a behind the scenes video of the campaign starring Karlie Kloss!

Prabal Gurung's Target collection is floral and feminine.
Photo: Target

Here's the thing about designer capsule collections: you have to be committed. At this point, it's a given that if you want to pay retail for items sold in one of Target (or H&M's) designer collaborations, you're either going to have lightning fast internet and a whip-quick clicking finger, or be willing to brave insane shoppers and even more insane lines at a retail location. Otherwise, you'll quickly find that the items you've been lusting after since the collab images were released are going for 10 times their original price on Ebay. There are some collections that are just too good to be ignored, though, and Prabal Gurung for Target is one of them. The designer, who has been called "this generations Oscar De La Renta" and has created jaw dropping red carpet looks for the likes of Jennifer Lawrence, awesome nail strips with Sally Hansen, not to mention consistently cutting edge runway collections year in and year out. His collection, which is inspired by "a girl’s journey through the different stages of love and the clothes she wears during each milestone—from the first date to meeting the parents to the engagement," Gurung told Target for their official press release, and pieces are priced from $12.99 to $199.99. It will be in stores February 9th.

I love these two as a couple. What a festive way to celebrate two important events in their life. Mariah looks like a dream.
